Anjohan's The Rings of Power - The Film Cut [FINISHED VERSION]

I’ve gotta say, isn’t Vranir just the guy? What an excellent set of feedback.

Anjohan, I’ll take a copy please, and I’d also be interested to see a bit of a description for how you’ve split the content across your edit and which major plotlines you’ve cut most heavily.

The content of the beginning Acts is;

-> The Elven storyline is the intro and the main-main characters. This is Galadriel and Elrond. They occupy, with the intro/prolugue, the first 11 minutes of the film. This is to establish all things important and give the main players the time deserved and needed to both care for their story as well as develop their relationship.

-> We then are introduced to the Southlands Plotline at the 11 minute mark, and are given six minutes with Arondir to establish his character and get an understanding of who he is and what his goals are. We are also introduced to Bronwyn. As the Elves are told they are abandoning the Southlands due to the declerance of peace, by orders of the King, we go back to Galadriel and Elrond.

-> Elrond and Galadriel have their emotional farewell during the night time celebration, and we are introduced to Celebrimbor at the end of the sequence.

-> We are now back in the Southlands, and get to develop Arondir and Bronwyn further. Their scene ends as they go to investigate the strange things happen further East.

-> Galadriel is seen traveling across the ocean, her farewell to Middle-Earth split in two with a scene with Elrond and Celebrimbor in-between to keep continuing his story arc as well so we know what he’s up to (being established as a main character and all, I need him to be kept present and interesting throughout Galadriel’s departure)

-> Then, we move onto a sequence of heavily edited scenes as Galadriel escapes the boat in the last minute, Harfoots Nori and Poppy are introduced along with The Stranger arriving, and Galadriel seeing the ports to “Heaven” close before her.

-> And now, all important main characters are introduced and the story established. So now I start to juggle the main plotlines with eachother, with a main focus on each plotline building upon the other, with a coherent team as we build to suspense and action and then the reveal of the Orcs. The rest I want for you and others to discover, as I prefer my edits to be viewed without any expectation of what’s to come besides (hopefully) a good Andreas edit.

About time! I reckon you’ll get all eight films done by the end of the year or into the next! 😀

Is there something wrong with the audio in the PoV preview clips, though? 🤨

Haha, for my own sanity I hope not! xD But it’s me, so maybe they will be.

And kind of. The files were rendered in 5.1 and streamable has made a really low-audio stereo file out of it. So turn your volume high!

Great news! Congrats 👏🏻 Will we have to wait as long for parts 9 & 10? 😬🤞🏻

Part 9 not so much, as it’s only audio transitions left to do and some minor re-scoring. As for Part 10 - well, that one is quite a beast. I have the “worst parts” done, like a major Bran event, but the ending parts of the “Good Ending” Version needs more work.

I might release The Dark Ending before The Good Ending tho’ (and i’ll give them better names xD )

Hey, could I get a link please? I am very interested in a digestible version of the Rings of Power.

PMs sent.

Minor Update:

I updated the file due to a minor mistake near the end (a little unintended shriek sound) and two transitions I wanted to finetune even further. It’s nothing major, but if you haven’t watched the film yet I recommend re-downloading for an even better experience.

HARRY POTTER: Revisited [Updates and Info]
Time

So, as for Prisoner of Azkaban - The Ultimate Edition, it is getting very close and it’s time to give out an update.

Prisoner of Azkaban has no narrative changes or lots of fancy new establishing shots or VFX, but what it does have is a sole focus on keeping some of John William’s Original Score for the first two entires alive in PoA. This is to keep a strong continuity with the previous two films and to carry over the emotion of previous events. I also want to keep Prisoner of Azkaban feeling less like a “one-off” movie with a soul more seperate to the other entries in the series.

The Major Focus on Prisoner of Azkaban is to remove some of it’s more individualistic traits (like constant fade-ins and outs) as well as a soundtrack that’s seperate from the rest of the series (which is true for the films here-on and out, but not for this fan edit series). But I also have to keep the film’s Original Score in place and keep it profound to the film, as it is a part of its identity.

Another important focal point is that PoA use music more subtly as well as more sparingly, and let scenes breath with dialogue and ambience rather than out-blown soundtracks. And this I really like. Therefore I can’t just simply copy&paste soundtrack into the scenes. They have to be edited, slowed down, pitched down to resemble a darker tone and have the right beats to them. So what I’ve been doing (besides SFX work) for the last weeks (before i went abroad) is to literally create my own narrative of Williams music for some of the scenes, putting together hours of content to befit the scenes they’re in as well as the tone. Only at the rarest of occations would a short musical montage straightly pasted into the scene actually work and only for what would be a second or two of a beat.

Video Examples will follow down below.

Major Changes:

 • Prisoner of Azkaban’s Original Score is kept intact (beautiful and alive as it is), but the William’s OST from the two previous entries also gets a place in the story to keep with the continuity of the previous entries and to keep building on the emotional weight of moments of prior.

 • Color Grade slightly more colorful and vibrant, to accompany the continuity with the two previous entries. However, as the story gets darker (mainly the end of Act II) the color grade reverts back to it’s original grading (with less color and vibrancy).

 • Tremendous amount of SFX work, with new ambience and foley for key scenes - many of which are exampled below.

 • Fade Ins and Outs (including those that make it clear that we end/begin Act I, Act II and Act III of the film) are all but removed because this is the only film to do so. In keeping with continuity, these have to go to make PoA feel less like a “different” entry of the saga. The only ones kept are the opening one and the Dementor one.

 • New Establishing Shots for what feel like “missing footage” to work with. Here I mostly reference the opening, in which Aunt Petunia says “Harry, Harry… open the door” over the span of 8 seconds to a black screen. Now, we instead have two freshly-made Exterior Shots of Private Drive whilst it’s raining to accompany the dialogue.

 • Removed some shots of bad acting, such as Harry’s first look at Hermione whilst crying about the reveal of Sirius.

 • Paced the Final Act better, as the time travel plotline loses momentum on repeat viewings (for me). The Third Act is kind of where I “lose interest”.

 • … and more, but mostly nitpicks here and there.

Anjohan's The Rings of Power - The Film Cut [FINISHED VERSION]
Time

Due to the brilliance of Vranir and his amazing feedback and ideas, I deem the Harfoot plotline resolved and satisfactory for what will now be a full release. His idea was to have the Harfoots stay in one place, rather than travel the world, and this actually solved a lot of narrative problems in juggeling their (less interesting and important) plotline opposite the far more urgent and climactic ones.

I did indeed have to do narrative changes beyond this to create some tension and build some heart to their story, but I feel I’ve done a good job at this. And with that said, all the plotlines should now build upon one another and come to a satisfactory conclusion at the end.

Along with some few new updates and better-of-life improvements, many of which Vranir suggested up above, I am now rendering and releasing what I feel is a very strong film cut of the series.

The runtime is a little longer than I’d like, but still shorter than the previous workprint version and two of the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition versions. So it fits into the LOTR film slot quite well that way. When season 2 hits the streaming platforms and we get a clearer vision of what we have to work with for a sequel, it will also be easier to know if certain things can be omitted from Film 1 to keep it to a shorter runtime.

Thank you to all for brilliant feedback the last year (and especially vranir) and I hope the full release will make many a disappointed fan slightly less agitated towards the new iteration of Tolkien’s world.

The Mandalorian - a general discussion thread - * SPOILERS *
Time

I am happy that the very calm, collected and adult people on this forum, that write long essays and use nice words (to nut hurt the creators of a media product), could educate the bad apples of this forum. We really needed to be told that short, strongly-worded feelings and opinions from the top of your head are not welcome on a forum about a fictionate universe and its fanedits and that we are all part of a YouTube mob I didn’t even know existed.

As for The Mandalorian season 3, I agree that it is amazing laughing material and someone should make a fanedit with the sole purpose of turning it into an even greater spoof or parody.

Also, I hope Ahsoka is very good because nothing would please me and many others more. And perhaps I then write something really thoughtful and nice and mean it and we can all swim in positivity!!!

Also, the pictures up above are a nice find and clearly show that the creators had very different things in mind - probably most if not all without Grogu’s interference. Perhaps the droid was meant to be the new sidekick?

Now that Pedro Pascal confirmed he’s hardly on set anymore and its mainly just voice work, it makes total sense how easy it was to sideline his character in season 3 when the actor doesn’t have to be there/doesn’t care anymore and can’t approve or disapprove of his character’s arc in person.

It’s just a very easy paid gig for him right now and I applaude it. May the mandalorian season 4 never happen and Disney fail spectacularly.

Indiana Jones might be the nail in the coffin/beginning of the end for these hacks at this point.

Everyone but a rare few are totally against them at this point, and all the legacies are exploited and ruined.

No idea, friend. I’ve hardly watched anything sequel-releated because they can’t fix the films for me, but if you want something radical I suggest watching something made by someone not doing simple «cut and move/remove» editing. Someone on the forum can probably recommend something more «extreme» for you.

Thank you for the kind words ❤️

Right. Confused your name with another user. My bad.

I re-read your review now and thank you once again. I am thrilled when people like this project in paticular, since it’s my passion project. These are the edits I definitely take the longest time to finetune as I want them to be near perfect and exciting for each release.

Very soon. The film is actually done. The only obstacle is that I have one or two things to sort out with FILM IX that need to work within the continuity of the final three films so that nothing ruins the continuity of certain things that will and need to happen in the story.

I hopefully have it sorted out pretty soon.

How did you find the films? You recently watched them I suppose having sent you a PM recently.

The Expanded Universe - The Movie Structure [Because Disney Can't Satisfy Me]
Time

The Book of Boba Fett is done, and I changed some things on the way.

It is retained and kept as Boba Fett’s story, with Din Djarin as a side character, and all the plot about Luke, Grogu etc. are kept for The Mandalorian Chapter III.

This honors both their individual stories way better, and gives them both more urgency and meat for their respective storylines.

This has of course forced me to re-arrange and alter existing footage to make it work, but after going down this route and getting my hands on Mandalorian Chapter III I’ve found a satisfactory solution to reunite them without the Book of Boba Fett storyline.

TBoBF

As for Boba Fett’s film, running at 2 hours and 4 minutes, I think i’ve done a decent to very good job at tackeling it as a movie with three arcs. I think it is now captivating, intense - even a slight bit emotional - and I think it really works.

For myself at least, I’ve taken a series I would never return to and made it into a film that I will now for sure watch over and over again with my family.

Major changes:

 • The storylines are chronological.
 • The Tusken Storyline is now the meat of the emotional weight of the story, at 32 minutes of The First Act.
 • The Present Day stuff is dumbed down, focused and high-paced - with a bit of Rancor love and humour sprinkled throughout.
 • Numerous close-ups of unmasked Boba, as well as some… questionable acting, is removed and/or heavily trimmed. I want Boba to feel the same, although with a new story and some change of heart.
 • Offensive CGI is trimmed, altered and/or tightened.
 • The film now presents a different way of Boba Fett overtaking Jabba’s palace.
 • It is heavily implied that The Tuskens kept Boba Fett’s armour in their camp. Jawa’s are gone. For those who watched Mandalorian Chapter II, you will know that Din Djarin never had his armour.
 • Din Djarin’s story is introduced after the overtaking of Jabba’s Palace, and his story tightened and kept relevant. Storylines that don’t serve the greater picture are removed (and some kept for Mandalorian Chapter III).
 • The Third Act is heavily restructured and, imo, improved. Both for emotional weight as well as keep the story tight on the relevant characters.
 • Restructured some of Cad Bane’s scenes to make him feel more pivotal to the overarching plot.

Star Wars Episode III: Labyrinth Of Evil (Released)
Time

The audience (first-time viewers) will have a hard time accepting that Anakin has killed younglings when it is not shown, which will benefit the film’s increasing tension at this point. It will add an extra element of unconfirmed horror - the good ol’ The shark is scarier when you don’t see it.

And then, you could, for the ultimate WTF gutpunch moment, show brief glimpses of the Youngling’s deaths / murders when Padme confront Anakin at Mustafar: “Obi-Wan told me… you were killing younglings”. Anakin reflecting on a closeup, then BOOM - horrific, short flashback glimpses, some swelling horrific soundwork, followed by back to present and a conflicted, but firm, “Don’t listen to Obi-Wan” from Anakin. The ultimate confirmation that Anakin has gone totally bonkers and is beyond redemption.

The stakes are at an ultimate high right before the choking of Padme and the ultimate duel of the fates, and the “Anakin… you’re breaking my heart” hits on a different level.

In this paticular instance I think it could benefit the story.
