This edit, and this series of edits, will create each separate season of Game of Thrones into one movie each - in the style of Lord of the Rings.

[1.1] PROJECT INFO AND EXPLANATION

Game of Thrones - A Feast for Crows is the third film in this series of Game of Thrones movies. The project is meant to have the same structural pace and tone as the Lord of the Rings, while maintaining the story and characters of Game of Thrones, to create a suspenseful, truthful-to-material, one-time adventure in which - instead of watching 10 hours of episodes, you watch one condensed 3-hour long movie with the story fundament of Game of Thrones and the pure adventure and tone of the Lord of the Rings.

Except for the shorter running time, adventurous feel of LOTR and GoT combined, and more condensed storyline, half the idea is also that it will be much easier to watch this with a nay-sayer friend than to ask him to watch 10 hours of episodes with you. Also, much easier to do a Game of Thrones-marathon.

The series’ soundtrack is completely removed and replaced with that of Lord of the Rings, using different themes for the different houses (Rohan for the Starks, Gondor for King’s Landing etc), as well as the entirety of the score of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies where suited.

A Feast for Crows, the third film, has been worked on simultaneously with Film II (which recently was finished). This was to create a good and confident bridge between the two movies, as Season 2 and 3 function as the same story with their respective character arcs. I hoped to release them both before the Season 8 premiere, but it was too much work.

I’ve been thinking about making a fanedit series, named “Edited to be Wrong”, in which I take a movie and make it “wrong”, with the runtime about 20-30 minutes.

It’s been well-received by friends - but that’s cuz we share the same humor, so it might not be as liked online. But I thought i’d give it a try.

Sigh. I give up on Star Wars as of right now, and hope for the love of good that Benioff and Weiss can do miracles with their upcoming film.

J.J. Abrams re-did A New Hope to critical acclaim because we got fanservice from high and low and kept to a safe formula. Rian Johnson tried to be too bald and ruined storylines and mysteries presented in TFA. And now, these asshats are trying to win back the fanbase by re-introducing Palpatine - completely undermining ROTJ’s ending and even the new trilogy itself, making it clear it can not (and never have) stood on its own legs. Just failure from left to right. We’re all just taught and expected to like these movies now to the point that we fool ourselfs that we still want them. I think, after this one, it will be clear in a year or two how weak this trilogy really was and is (“but man, you haven’t even seen Rise of Palpatine yet” - one film doesn’t make a good trilogy).

Working at a cinema, I don’t have to spend a dime. TFA was cool. TLJ was… weird, but refreshing - but overall a disappointment as you let it sink in. Rise of Disappointment will fly by me, and I’m happy to watch it all end for free. Maybe they can pull of a decent movie at best.

I won’t do soundtracks from other places as of right now (for film II at least), but I might consider it in the future. But It would of course have to match the same musical structure as Howard Shore’s.

A lot of people has asked me about V2 and Star Wars, and I’ve thought a lot about the Star Wars community as a whole. This video, from Ahmed Best - the actor of Jar Jar Binks, has completely changed my mind about a lot. And especially the Star Wars community.

I did not know or ever choose to think about what love, passion and care there has to be, both involved but also shared, among a lot of certain individuals to create a character like Jar-Jar Binks. How much emotion and love you put into something you expect to be loved back only to get crushed in the most emotional and heartfelt of ways.

I have never been a monster towards anything Star Wars related. I’ve criticized - maybe even been a little rude at times, but I’ve never attacked the actor or the director or anyone who has ever poured their soul into the making of a film, or a project, or a “thing”. Seeing now, as an adult nonetheless, how the SW community is acting towards the creative people involved in the making of Star Wars - just like back in 1999 and onwards, and how much the monster backslash might hurt the actors, the costume designers, the lightning technicians, and the smaller people involved is a terrifying thought. Some research into the topic and you will find horrifying articles. And I’m not speaking about criticism. I’m speaking about personal attacks, death threats - hell, even stalking and harsh, verbal language (and/or mocking) both in private as well as in public.

Fanediting for me has always been about either improving or altering something to what I consider to be a better, more interesting and perhaps more emotional product. The Ancient Lore adopts this exact philosophy.

I have for many days thought about discontinuing The Ancient Lore and Star Wars overall. I do not feel passion for the universe going forward (faults of both the community as well as Disney). I do not support the fanbase at all as most of them have turned into a mob - and I do not support how I am a continuing force of negative critique of the Prequel era, and importantly The Phantom Menace, be it inside the fanediting community or beyond.

I choose to leave Star Wars behind, proudly doing so, keeping what fond memories I have from EP I - VII. I also applaude every Star Wars fan that both love and care for the universe with decency and respect, regardless of how you feel about the movies from the past, present or maybe even future. Having our voices heard is crucial, but the manner of how you speak can sometimes be even more important than your message.

I simply choose to distance myself from the toxic community it has become.

The Ancient Lore will still be be obtainable out of respect for the work done, and V2 will come to finish it down the line - but I hope that with this post I at least make my intentions clear. I have loads of respect for Ahmed Best and everyone ever involved with TPM and so should you all. This edit was only ever intended as a love letter to a movie I always felt had much more in it. Thank you, to George Lucas and LucasFilm and all the brilliant people involved!

Please view this work as a sign of respect and love for the universe, and not as a hate speech (which so many unfortunately seem to think it is).

is the second film entry in my Game of Thrones film series, a high-paced and intensely structured 3 hour epic of the second season, featuring the musical and stylistic structure of the Lord of the Rings movies to create a wholly epic experience. After the immensely positive feedback and encouraging words from fellow faneditors and viewers from both Fanedit.org and OriginalTrilogy.com upon the release of the first entry; A Tale of Kings and Honor, I have now settled on seeing this project through, and it is my wish to create something really unique, inspiring and fresh to the world of fanediting. I hope this future saga can bring just that to the table!

PROJECT EXPLANATION AND DETAILS

• Project Started: October, 2017.

The project is meant to have the same structural pace and tone as the Lord of the Rings, while maintaining the story and characters of Game of Thrones, to create a suspenseful, truthful-to-material, one-time adventure in which - instead of watching 10 hours of episodes, you watch one condensed 3-hour long movie with the story fundament of Game of Thrones and the pure adventure and tone of the Lord of the Rings. It will be much easier to watch this with a nay-sayer friend than to ask him to watch 10 hours of episodes with you, as well as to do a Game of Thrones-marathon.

The series’ soundtrack is completely removed and replaced with that of Lord of the Rings, using different themes for the different houses (Rohan for the Starks, Gondor for King’s Landing, Arwen theme (and later when dragons; DoS Dragon theme) for Daenerys), as well as the entirety of the score of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies where suited.

Unlike A Tale of Kings and Honor, which settled on a flattering 2 hours and 38 minutes, I soon realized well through the heavy and struggeling parts of editing the first rough cut that this endavour would be well towards a proper, long epic. The amount of traveling and growth for each of the key players is immense, not to mention the inclusion of new characters that has to get a small, but growing voice of their own, and an end-battle that very much resembles Helm’s Deep - all earning their spot in the spotlight.

THE NARRATIVE: STORY AND CHARACTERS

CHARACTERS WE FOLLOW: Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark, Arya Stark, Jamie Lannister, Theon Greyjoy, Tyrion Lannister, Lannisters, Stannis Baratheon and Jon Snow.

Other main or side characters in season 2 are visited through the presence of our key players that we follow for Film II, such as Sansa Stark, Joffrey Baratheon/Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Renley Baratheon, Gendry, Littlefinger, Varys, Brianne of Tarth etcetc.

The story for Film II does revolve around escaping the claws that the characters found themselfs in at the end of the last film, often failing to do so, and trying to get to a better and more just place. It’s also about the war of the five kings, and how the kingdom is slowly growing more and more violent and shredded. The film ends with all the characters finding themselfs in even worse places than when they first started, leaving a small victory - once again - to the family of the Lannisters, and a growing tension among all the key players.

Daenerys Targaryen is not featured in the second film entry, A Storm of Swords, due to three main things;

• her storyline is rather boring and uninventful for S2, with little character growth or narrative expansion.
• an already filled up narrative, with little to no room for more.
• the ability to see her in Film III having grown past her previous struggles, and having created friends and oppurtunities for herself during this time period.

I’ve never compared my edits to LOTR or their color grade with the sole exception of how those films feel grounded in reality. But that is taking many things into account; such as musical continuity and tone and pace. That is a red thread that goes all the way from Fellowship of the Ring and til the end of Return of the King. They feel like one and a whole, rather than single pieces in a puzzle. That is what I’m going for with the musical continuity, tone and to an extent the color grading.

This is what I wrote:

When Alfonso Quaron took over the helmet in the Prisoner of Azkaban he gave the series what they so desperately needed: a gritty, realistic atmosphere in an elsewhere magical fantasyworld. He grounded the series, much like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy grounded Tolkien’s fantasy books for the big screen; in what could have been an ancient, forgotten world.

I only compared Cuaron’s work, not his color grade (?), to what Peter Jackson did for the Lord of the Rings. PJ made the Lord of the Rings feel real, and so did Alfonso Cuaron for Harry Potter. Harry Potter 1 & 2 were brilliant in their own right, but they felt more like childish adventure stories (which the first two books were) sprinkled with some menacing cherries on top. But as additions to the movie franchise they felt completely misplaced due to the massive changes in both tone, cinematography, themes and even - unfortunately - actor replacements. Therefore, when you also take into account how much color there is to Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets compared to, say, Fellowship of the Ring - since you thought I compared them - Harry Potter 1 & 2 still feel and look like a disney fairytale compared to LOTR, PoA and the HP entries onward.

Therefore, the best way to make the franchise fit as a whole - which is and has always been my goal with these edits - I made the musical continuity, tonal approach, themes and pacing the sole focus of every one of the eight film entries to make them feel and flow like one, complete whole.

And also, for the sake of this debate:

What is the second clip you refer to? The Half-Blood Prince Great Hall sequence?

As one of my friends has said, it would be quite a sight to have seen Harris in Goblet of Fire, i.e. the post naming of the champions scene.

Oh man, absolutely. As much as Gambon’s Dumbledore is brilliant, serious, confident and caring, Harris’s warmth and comfortable presence would have been a sight to behold going forward. I have a hard time imagine Harris agreeing to Dumbledore’s yelling and maddening demeanor.

At first I was unsure of the inclusion of Richard Harris, whom I’ve become unsure of due to my preference towards Michael Gambon and how much of a continuity issue the recast is, but, your editing abilities alongside Lily’s theme rid me of any doubt.
Good stuff, and I’m truly glad you’ve used the theme in your edits.

Thank you, brother! I feel the same as you about Gambon and the recast, and although they were left with no choice it still reminds you that what you’re watching is a movie with a continuity issue.

However, including him in the ending arc of the franchise helps in completeing the full circle of the series and properly setup the last stand against Lord Voldemort and what has been lost since the beginning and what is left to salvage.
