Its easier than making a new one for each shot?

well yeah.. making a starfield is piece of cake.

Ady said that this is the same starfield with the ANH:R.

I dont have problem with that.. just wondering :)

... Is Culture and Creativity narrowing ?

I have nothing against digital paintings that I happen to use myself but the lazyness of mind that comes with it is sometimes quite... Obvious.

Guess again :P

I googled Googie and not Dubai for reference :P but thanks because i was looking buildings like these in dubai :D

I really don't see why we need to change the background buildings in that scene, they could use some of Ady's colour correction, sure, but I don't see anything wrong or outdated about them.

The sky and *some* of the buildings in the back do scream matte painting, but I really like their designs. And I think that changing them with generic buildings would take away from the beauty of this shot.

Actually in older posts the coloring in GOUT was better from 2004 or adys from the point of view that it had more natural light and shadow behaviour.

Now i still support ady's coloring because the CG flyby doesnt match not even close to the GOUT colors.

I mention in earlier posts with the help of Imp fighter that the blending from the flyby and the static shot(leia's window) the buildings are in the wrong place as well many other elements.

There is nothing particural wrong with the buildings as i mentioned but as you can see ILM managed to make new CG buildings and mostly ignore the other architecture that appears in bespin. So from matter of continuity get rid of them if you can.

Thanks for the analysis on bespin savmagoett!:D:D:D

Well, sorry for that. I'm lurking this thread since a couple of weeks and I must admit I don't quite catch who's involved, and I'm still  wondereing if people making mock-ups like Vaderios does are only here to show their skill or if they are really working on the Revisited project.

I found a great opportunity to keep and improve my skills through these boards because its a good motivation. Like 005 said i never make anything for showing off. I can still name my self as visualizer of the ideas that floating here. so yes I sort of work for the edit. As everybody else here who are helping ady with their ways.

In the first case it would be a huge loss of time and a pointless spent of skills...

Most of the work i do in these topics i put them to my portfolio for future jobs.

I didn't mean to convince anybody here about what I'm able to do. Now, I find funny that I'm on these board sharing something dedicated to sound restitution since a time from now while I never shown any of my personnal nor professional visual works that could attract or interest many people there. The reason is simple and I'm sure I don't need to explain about it: that's just private.

Well i believe neither ady wanted to show what he is able to do but he is sharing his passion. i m doing it too. and yes my private other genre art(works) are not placed here.

Just for fun, and to give my words a little credibility will I let you see some 12 years old paintings I've reproduced from SW shots or matte paintings (my only SW related picture works). These will not show you any of my creative skills, but rather my first steps as a learner a "long time ago" :). These were acrylics on woodboard, were all about 1,20m long and were direct copies = not layered, so please be gentle (these are scans of paper photos, sorry for the dust and grains). The time for execution was between 1 and 2days with one exception. I don't use acrylics anymore but oils, though I'm familiar and (even) good with 2D and 3D cgi too.

I admire your paintings and you know it ;) no need to start a digital / traditional debate kind of art.

Now move on

Well I'm not complaining about the walls, I just meant that maybe the buildings could be more like the originals?

But the originals has nothing to do with the new SE ones that ady kept in his edit.

Im even considering to suggest again like someone else did in the past to remove the originals in some other backdrops that makes no sense :P

While I love the colour correction, I'm actually inclined to think that the original buildings and sky in the background look better.

It's not a technical detail, but I just think that the original designs of those buildings together with the beautiful blue sky and pearl-white clouds look more inviting than the soft-white buildings from the new shots.

Maybe it's because it looks more surreal (fairytale-like) but I just don't like this new background much.

I'm not saying that the original background couldn't use some sprucing up, but maybe you will consider leaving it more as it was before?

The new color of the walls were done to match the rest of the shots.

The new buildings were placed to match the architecture and to fix the bad perspective.

The sky was replaced to match the new bespin shot that luke arrives(as we see in trailer) before.

I never liked those "just because we can" "photoshops" to make it look more open anyway.

"Just we can" "photoshops" give jobs and money to some people ;)

Well i thought you mention the above image..

I checked the movie and the arent white bottom haze effects.. can you show a pic or two?

Also  funny fact, in the next shots when luke sees boba and stormies the sun actually is in the position that i place it in the matte shot :D

Makes it a possible option :)

Yeap!

Also judging from the real set i post above the details on the light section are wrong in the matte. scaling problems

I like how ady can impress us with the set/matte continuity errors fixed.

I hope that the mattes that being addressed will take a consideration or a second thought :)

well, assuming from the original set he must be somewhere in that building or somewhere like this building:

Makes some sense..

Also the buildings in the outside makes this building be really top from the others.

And, due to the lighting on all the object in the scenes, it's impossible to change the direction of the sun. But you forget that Bespin is a planet, but cloud city floats above it so therefore could possibly have a slight rotation to it making the direction of the sun the same at sunrise and sunset.

Assuming and only, cant be this fact established to the exterior shots?

What's the current thread about already ?

Thanks for that ABC :)

In fact, the matte/set limits are still visible ady.. will you fix them in the final cut?

Also something else:

We ve seen from trailer that the sun position when our heroes arive and leave from bespin is from the same direction.. only with different darkness.

Any chance make the sun be from the opposite side in one way or an other to create variance?

Or assuming that the city is turning in its central axis make this impossible?

I use Megaupload. You should be able to grab the links tho, np.

Awesome!

Mostly want a review story wise. I know all the effects are not complete. Lightsabers are changed but not completely perfect.  A few audio transitions are off also. But feel free to comment on as much as you like. Cause maybe there's something you'll mention that I didn't intend to deal with.

I will give a full feedback with what i saw/experienced ;)

Keep it up bob ;)

Now this is funny..

Considering this shot, i came to some conclusions.

If the sun is under CC so the light must come from inder the hypothetical horizon line..

So for the sake of making this less symetrical i add some sun behavior to the left wall as well some buildings with a better lightning behavior.

also some slight color values to make that shot match the mood as ady set as establishing shot :)

subtle but whatever good looking :P

and again this building has no logical architecture sense :P as for the many buildings in SW...
