also, the ROTJ matte with han and lando. the mattes are never that bad, except for the segmented feeling of background and foreground. it would be awesome to have legs added to han and lando and have them more set in the scene, but failing that how about having people in the background interacting with it?

True! Like I said because of lazyness (!) i took a random space battle scene. Wich is more intense than it should have been.
Plus in ROTJ many of the other windows have not starfield or any DS surface, it could be add a more "tower" feeling.

Yes the lights will be good addition and will add more detail.
Still ImpFighter the glow of Luke is to bright and is not only shows the matte lines but is a bit fake.
If you want to see it with its deeper meaning dark versus light then Vader has to have the advadange over luke.

Aprox all the shadow parts in ROTJ especialy at the space ships shot has a red tint (!) Seems this movie is made fast.
Lets avoid the part that the matte will change in ROTJ:R at least it can look a bit better

After all the edits of the prequels is not a silent walk to the park. Like OT edits, PT needs an extreme makeover.
TPM needs to be more more II and III style and the whole PT needs to be A LOT as the OT!

id like to see the pt as if it were made with technological inhibitions. personally i really like the desaturated PT, but wouldnt apply it to a whole film. the droid factory is definitly the best, and i like the emperors office being gray enstead of purple
True. After all even i believe some shots is too dark. Maybe i was in rush and didn't pay too much attention. Still heavy contrast needs to simulate the OT.

Someone said the battle of endor to be more like ROTS opening battle, so we can see from the throne room the battle outside.
Ive noticed that in some parts there is not enough space to see outside so i cut some metal to extend the view.
Sorry for the crap battle pic but i was too lazy to make one from scratch. Notice the death star surface :)

The program i use is Photoshop.
I dont know what prgram do you use and if it has the options of the PS

For the factory scene:
I will explain what i did in PS and then figure out in other programs :P
Duplicate the background
Get rid the reds: Hue-Saturation choose the REDS and reduce the saturation and change it slightly from RED to become yellow. Close the H-S
You should have a less red and more flat yellow result.
Duplicate the layer and desaturate it. Play with the levels add more dark spots- eliminate the many whites. Change the transfer mode to soft light. Play with the opacity.
Now you can desaturate the yellow that look too colorfull with your tastes.
Merge the layers.
Duplicate the result and desaturate it. play with the levels so only the bright spots will be visible (lights).Duplicate the layer and add Gausian blur to it ( play with the values) Set it to screen. merge it with the below layer and set again for screen.you have know the light glows. Play with the color corection to add some color if you desire to the lights.
Make a new layer. Paint with a soft brush and black color around the spots that is useless to be seen.Play with the opacity.
Make some final adjustments if you need
Done!

Possibly! Besides that scetch made in rush. In the other hand if this scene flipped ( with the two wings or whatver they called) it makes more sence the eye focused on the closed object. Also you mention something about Luke and fliping the shot. Maybe now is possible :)
