I do rather like North by Northwest...... Look to it, I charge you.

Possibly a top ten for me.  I've been a huge North By Northwest nerd since before you were born.  Even silkscreened my own North By Northwest t-shirt many years ago.  I put this artwork an a shirt;

And here is a picture of me wearing it, back in 1981;

"My secretary is a great admirer of your methods, Mr. Kaplan."

Regarding the topic;  I could never come up with a single favorite film. Truth is,  I'd be hard pressed to nail down that Top Ten list.

I left once
Time

Back in 2005, I think.    We had an uber-troll around here that really disrupted the board.  No one was off limits to this guy and it seemed like he wasn't going to be dealt with. I seldom have an issue with trolls and have no problem letting them wear themselves out.  But man, this guy made us his full-time gig.  I bailed for a few months.

Most of the regulars around here were very bummed completely unaware that I'd left.   When I checked back a few months later, he'd been dealt with.  Don't remember his name, but his signature was a weird, poorly-drawn cartoon of a wookie in a red robe.  Must have been a few versions of the software back, because I don't remember an ignore feature - which I'm fairly quick to pull the trigger on.

I agree that the idea to retcon an easter egg is stupid, however, I don't see it as universe shrinking (one could say that Vader being Luke's father is universe shrinking too).

Paging Anchorhead...

Swear, as soon as I read Alex's post, I started to log in.  ;-)

Vader being Luke's father was the start of the Incredible Shrinking Universe.  It wasn't originally part of Star Wars (my signature).  Lucas had writer's block and shoe-horned a plot twist into the film.  For me, the Vader-as-Father change was the beginning of the end.

Paid Music vs Free Music

 I on the other hand am content to be a discriminating consumer of music, and I value the work of professionals.  If, some day, one of your compatriots has a chance to open up a gig at the Mercury Lounge for someone I go see, maybe I'll come to realize its great.  But without such reliable hallmarks of value (to me), I won't pursue what I'm virtually certain will be a waste of time.

I've only messed around with two that I can remember.  One was a motorcycle game by Microsoft, back in 1999.  The other was in 2001. It was some sort of game where you slowly build a caveman society into a modern metropolis.  Only a couple of times each on those. Never really been a big video game person.

His body of work is beyond impressive.  I have more than I can mention without forgetting a few.  That said;  These in particular are in regular rotation for me, depending on mood;

Regular
Jaws
Star Wars77
Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade
Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
Memoirs Of A Geisha

Seasonal
Home Alone
The Olympics (those seasons are far apart)  ;-)

On just my work machine alone, I have over 9 hours of his work.

In fact, now that I'm thinking about it...*cues up Memoirs*

I thought the commercials in general were pretty bad.  And the continued trend of using violence for cheap laughs is not impressing me.  Unfortunately they keep getting made because they keep getting laughed at (if my family, minus me and my wife, are anything to judge by).
Says the guy who posts a guy getting kicked in the junk at every opportunity.

[insert gif of guy getting kicked in the junk, with the kicker labelled "005" and the kickee labelled "TV's"]

win.

You think you know me?  I have no intention of posting a gif of you getting kicked in the groin.

On-topic;

I thought the Chevy commercial where the truck keeps alerting the family to the little kid getting into trouble was hilarious.

uh oh,  I think Frink just got Anchorhead angry.

Not at all.

I'll take Pettitte's - lapse of judgment\admission when he didn't have to - over Clemens, Bonds, McGwire, & Palmiero and any day of the week.

*edit*

When I say didn't have to, I mean after he was named by the Mitchell Report.  He owned up to the report because he felt it was the right thing to do.  He scheduled a press conference, told when the two instances took place, where he got the HGH, and then answered questions about it.

He didn't go the Clemens\Palmiero route and claim outrage that the commoners would dare slur his manhood in such an undeserving manner, or that people who know the truth are just "misremembering".

Nor did he go the Bonds route and laugh while stating he had no idea what substances he was taking.

And last, he didn't go the McGwire route of saying that years of PEDs had no effect on his numbers because he was just so naturally awesome.

A-Roid, I won't even bother mentioning because, to me, he's the biggest megalomaniac to ever put on a uniform.  Like George Lucas, he just belches out words that have no connection to reality - whatever fits the task at hand.  Yeah, that's right, I made a Star Wars reference.  ;-)

This just proves what an asshole Lucas really is.

That was actually the very first thought I had.  He seems to love that he can be a dick and his devoted TFNers will still hang on his every word and buy every product he releases, no matter how poor the quality, or how many times he's already sold it to them.   It's as though he really enjoys gas lighting his followers.  By far, the strangest director\fan relationship I've ever seen.

Yeah, the Yankees aren't exactly in a position of power like they have been for the past 15 years.  I imagine the Phillies are going to be one of the tougher teams this season.  That rotation is loaded.

My earliest prediction;  the Astros start the season 0-3.

Andy Pettitte made his retirement official today.

http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=6089859

My favorite baseball player ever.   I've followed his entire career closely (through the MLB Extra Innings package). Needless to say, I was very glad I got to see him pitch regularly here in Houston for a few years. When he went back to New York, I wasn't too bothered by it. He'd always been a Yankee, so it seemed like he was going back to who he really was - one of the "core four".

I watched the press conference today and it's certainly been one of those "remember where you were when" sort of days. I hope he decides to become a pitching coach one day, preferably with the Astros.
