Thanks, man.
Thanks, man.

Once he's off the DL, did you know you don't have to activate him? You can keep him on the DL for another two months if you want to see if he is effective or not. The only catch is you can't make adds when you've got an active player in the DL spot until you either activate him (and drop someone else) or drop him.
I tried to take you up on your offer to add Street, but I'm getting an error message. I'll need your assistance. I wasn't aware of the the two month watch. That seems like more than enough time.
Thanks, man.
The Hoffman numbers are just plain weird. I can't even begin to speculate on what's going on with stats that lopsided.
See - that's how I felt about Street. I just sort of got antsy and made a gut move. To me, a month on the DL, particularly to start a season, is bordering on too long where pitching is concerned. With Hoffman, I'd probably wait at least one more series.
That said, he's in danger of losing the closer spot. What's going on with him this year? Didn't he give up a grand slam last week? That's weird. Man, there were some years in the past where he really put it on the Astros.

Right now you only have two closers, and you can have up to four in your RP spots (you'll notice that is why Ripplin is whipping us all in the saves category so far).
That's another tweak I was discussing with a buddy of mine, but I'm not ready to start making big alterations like that yet. I'm holding my own in the standings, so I'm ok waiting for now.

With all that said, you absolutely should trade him if you don't want him. But you need to get a fair price for him. I will not allow him to be traded for a so-so pitcher, for instance. Again, he's a top-5 player, and you need to get either another top-5 player or a couple really good players to make the trade fair for the league.
By the way, I'm also interested in trading for him. My 3B's have been pretty bad so far this year.
First off, I should point out that I'm not going to make a move hastily with A-Rod. I just said it was something I might do. As far as just cutting him, I didn't check the list because he's not someone I would cut. For me, it would have to be a trade for another strong 3B, which I haven't researched nearly enough yet.
As I said earlier, I'm pretty happy with the team as it is now.

In a month? You must be pretty confident in your team's ability to stay healthy.
:-P
Edit: I see you made some moves today. But why cut Street? He's DL eligible and you've got plenty of room for him.
If injuries pop up, I'll deal with them.
As far as Street goes, I'm not really digging that we're a month into the season and he's still on the DL. Plus, he's not someone I would have drafted anyway.
If I make any more big moves, I might let go of A-Rod. I know those are some pretty big shoes to fill and this is just fantasy league, but I just don't like the guy. It's the same reason I let go of Big Papi as soon as I could.

but in this case, you wouldn't have had to stop in order to help, just get out your cell phone and dial 911.
I get the feeling you want to debate this issue a little more than I care to, or try to hold people accountable for actions that haven't happened.
Let me be clear about this. If I see the situation is completely safe for me to render aid of one form or another, I will. If I sense a risk that may take me away from my family, I'm staying away.

can we assume whatever it was they were selling was illegal to sell?
Drugs.
For those of you not familiar with Jamaica, Queens - I can tell you there's no way I would have stopped to help. That's a really rough area for crime & drugs. I used to pass through that train station every day because I had to switch trains there. I was fine up on the platform, but the streets below were ugly - Bronx burned out buildings & cars ugly.
One day I fell asleep on the train and missed the Jamaica stop, so I had to get off at the next stop - the LIRR employees stop just outside of Jamaica. I had to walk back through Jamaica to get to the station. I was openly approached twice to buy, and also had some very rough looking characters yelling shit at me from across the street. I ducked into a bodega to ask for directions and the guy completely ignored me. Guess they didn't get many white fellas walking through at 6:30 AM (I worked night shift for several years). I eventually got off the street and walked along the tracks all the way back to the Jamaica station.
I made it back to the Jamaica station, with my heart racing and my beard iced-over (it was January), and caught my usual train to the Five Towns.
Like I said - no way in hell I'm stopping to help or getting involved in the first place, not in Jamaica. Sorry, but dying for an ungrateful stranger isn't the right thing to do for my family.
I pretty much have my team the way I want it. Might make one more small tweak in a month or so, but I'm happy with it now. I actually fared pretty well while I was on vacation and away from a computer.
Filmed, but never used.

This pic showed up while I was on vacation, so maybe it's been brought up already and I missed it, but - what exactly is that animal licking?

By all means, let's get Robin Hood out of Lincoln green and into some armor.
Looks like another in the growing line of Lord Of The Rings-inspired "epics". Cue the slow motion battles, a scene where the leading man yells just before an attack, the female lead who is entirely too beautiful and too tough for the time period, the muted colors, the stylized battle scenes, and the ready-to-be-quoted sound bites.
I've not seen any of them, but from a trailer perspective; King Arthur, 300, Kingdom Of Heaven, Beowulf, Alexander, Troy, etc - and now Robin Hood - they all look the same.
I'm a fan of some of Russel Crowe's work, so I may watch this when it comes on cable.
Off to Napa for a few days of tasting, with a drive in one night to go to a Giants game. I may take a hit on my fantasy team while I'm gone, I tried to get it sorted for at least a few days out.

King Crimson's another good one to add to the ones Anchorhead mentioned.
Man, don't even get me started. Too many awesome pieces to mention.
I particularly dig their early 80s work. The Belew, Fripp, Levin, & Bruford line-up is fucking incredible, man.

I present to you music.
The Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed
... they are sadly nearly unknown.
You might want to re-examine your teen-centric view of the world. Your generation's not being familiar with The Moody Blues hardly makes them "nearly unknown". For my generation, they are one of the more storied bands of the Art Rock era.
If you dig that type of music (personally, it's my favorite by far), there's plenty of it from the 60s & 70s that you might want to delve into. Genesis & Yes are my tops, but there are others. The Moody Blues line-ups over the years were a who's who of great musicians & writers - Denny Laine, Justin Hayward, Graeme Edge, Patrick Moraz (formerly with Yes), John Lodge, etc.
Good call on the album, kid, to me it's their finest hour. However - "nearly unknown"? - not even close, man.
Man, the good old days. Cool picture.
What's our file size limit here? Every time I make a pic and post it, if it's too big, it gets cropped. If you right-click and view image, you can see the full pic I posted. ?

I'm just disappointed that so few people here appear to be concerned about piracy.
That's an area where I take a fairly strong stance.
There's a girl here at work who joined Netflix specifically so she could create a giant library for herself. Always with the meant as silly disclaimer - "you know me, I'm just a little pirate". No matter how many times I told her I didn't want to help her insure that my DVDs will always cost over twenty dollars to cover all the profits lost to piracy, she still tried to bring one by occasionally.
Every time we'd be in a conversation about films and I'd mention something I had and watched regularly or that I'm particularly fond of, she'd ask to borrow it. My answer was the same every time - "no, I don't want it bootlegged and passed on to other pirates & bootleggers" - which I know her & her husband do.
Through those very same connections, she was able to get a copy of The Dark Knight before its theatrical release. It was one of those copies the studios release for reviewers, with the disclaimer branding at the bottom of the screen. She was sure I'd watch that one because I'm a Batman nerd, so she made me a copy and left it on my desk. It sat there until she came and got it about a week later. I only know it was a stolen preview copy because a few other guys watched the copies she made for them.
Seems like she's finally gotten the message. These days she doesn't push the bootlegs on me, nor does she ask to borrow my DVDs.
I'm no saint by any stretch**, but I can't contribute to the very thing that makes the costs so high. I can't even begin to imagine the thousands of dollars she's stolen for herself, as well as passed on to others in her network of bootleggers.
.
** My full-film audio rips are most likely a form of copyright infringement, but they stay only with me, and they're all DVDs I purchased legally. In fact, I purchased Kingdom of the Crystal Skull twice (Blu-ray & DVD) just so I'd have one to rip the audio from. Along those same lines, I could have easily gotten a full copy of the Star Wars NPR version for free from a few sites, but I bought it from the manufacturer.

I wonder how many people would consider the lack of OOT a dealbreaker.

And yes, I'm somewhat embarrassed that I actually took time to make this. But who knows, maybe it will work it's way around the internet like some of those others. I thought the toy in a mouse trap was pretty clever.
