To me, dubbing any character and giving them subtitles is too big a deviation from canon. That’s why I don’t like a lot of TPM edits. You have to have Mesa Jar Jar Binks and Japanese Neimoidians or it just doesn’t feel like I’m watching SW. The same goes for Snoke.

That said, are there any other Andy Serkis roles we can pull from for Snoke’s lines?

I remember snagging “I believe they call themselves Ewoks” from the radio dramas, allowing the Ewoks to be named onscreen. The fact that he’s voiced him in pretty much every instance the character’s been voiced and the fact that his mouth doesn’t move makes 3PO a godsend for faneditors.

I don’t understand why everyone is so keen on cutting Rey Skywalker. It’s the natural conclusion to her arc imo and exactly what I’d hoped for after TFA released (minus being a Palpatine).

You have a point about ending on a hopeful note, and while that wouldn’t work with Palpatine’s message, it would absolutely work with Kylo’s trip to Exegol. It’s something the protagonists don’t know about, and it shows that the antagonist has been weakened to the point of seeking outside help.

I don’t see the problem with more extras? Klaud is wonderfully goofy and Merry blends right in (although yeah, he totally should’ve been Rose).

Generally speaking, I’m strongly against changing titles, as I think it should be clear which film it is, and that it’s the same one everyone in the fandom refers to.

That said, if I were to rename films, while I think Rise of Skywalker is perfect already, good alternatives would be The Eternal Throne, The Throne Eternal, and The Empire Eternal. Balance of the Force would work too. That said, I don’t like multiple SW titles having the same words in them (besides small ones like “the” and “of”, obviously).

The only game that can get me uncontrollably hyped with a single image.

Idk…I think any significant movement (especially the camera) feels wrong in the final shot of a SW film. But of course TFA said fuck that and ended on a horrendous helicopter shot while TESB doesn’t end on the shot I always remember it ending on.

Okay so I think we all agree introducing Palpatine at the start of TRoS was a mistake. But what are the alternatives?

1. Introduce Palpatine at the end of TLJ.

2. Introduce Palpatine at the end of TRoS.

3. No Palpatine at all (good luck).

Most of these options have been explored, but I haven’t heard anyone consider moving his reveal to the end of the film. Cut all of Kylo’s scenes at the start, and change the Resistance dialog to refer to Palpatine as dead when they talk of his fleet. Then Rey shows up on Exegol and guess who she finds?

I don’t suppose there’s any way we could inject some mysticism and cosmology into this film? I feel it’s the biggest omission to be rooted in the film’s position as the final chapter. I wish we could get Mortis, the Whills, the World Between Worlds, or something, but I can’t think of any way it’d be possible.

Also, which track are you using for “Chewie’s theme”?

Finn’s arc… from victim of the empire and all alone, to force sensitive leader who teams up with other victims to topple it.

Maybe it’s just not the arc you would have written.

Those are the arcs for the trilogy as a whole, though. How much of them actually happens in TRoS? Most of the development happens in the first two movies.

A simple side idea that may have been talked about either on this thread or Hals … but I kinda wanted to sell that the “Sith” troopers are clones … which could help sell why there were so many of them. There is not a lot of footage of the red troopers, so there was one spot I used a republic commando sound file to incorporate a simple line and a grunt.

I wanted a simple line so people can pick up on it since a grunt sound is so quick and people wouldn’t catch it … but I dunno if it makes it either silly or too “fan edit-y”
