Complete Saga Radical Redux Ideas Thread

I’m surprised you weren’t going to make this suggestion, since you’re more enthusiastic about recoloring different planets.

Because I haven’t yet seen Season 2 of The Mandalorian.

Why ruin a strong, emotional character moment with a hint to a dumb mcguffin chase three films down the road?

Well it is kinda strange how he tells Luke to go immediately after taking the helmet off.

It almost seems like JJ was told NOT to use anything from the Colin script.

Except him and Terrio clearly used enough of it that the screenwriter’s guild felt it necessary to credit Trevorrow and Connolly.

This may be a dumb meme, but it may actually have a point, and a sequel hook!

What if in Vader’s dying moments, he tells Luke to find Exegol. Here’s how I envision the conversation:

Vader: Just for once, let me look at you with my own eyes.

Luke removes the mask.

Vader: There isn’t much time. cough The contingency. Find Exegol. Go, my son. Leave me.

Luke: No, you’re coming with me.

Maybe not exactly that, but something along those lines. Admittedly, I’m sidestepping the question of why Vader doesn’t mention the wayfinders, but that can’t be too big of a plothole, right? Obviously, this would mean redubbing unmasked Vader, but given he’s only one scene, just redubbing the whole thing seems reasonable at this point.

Anyway, this scene as a whole gives us a Sequel hook, and presumed reason for Luke’s disappearance in the next film: he’s looking for Exegol.

On a related note, anybody notice how Luke is crying in the mid shots but his face is dry in the close ups?

Harrison Ford in "Solo: A Star Wars Story" - Amazing deepfake (up on youtube)

To me the logical endpoint is to have hand-crafted faces for characters. Instead of just having an actor use their own face, they have a face created by the art department superimposed on them through this process. For example, instead of Harry Potter looking like Daniel Radcliffe, his face would be something carefully designed by a committee referencing the books’ illustrations and drawing up concept art before coming up with the finished product. That way you don’t have to question the ethics of resurrecting dead actors, and if an actor just can’t be bothered with another sequel, they can easily be replaced.

You know what the KoR dialog feels like? A pointless SE change. You know, like Vader’s or Luke’s lines being changed in ESB.

I’ve only heard four acceptable impersonators. One, Ian Abercrombie, has sadly since passed away. The others, Sam Witwer, Tim Curry, and Nick Jameson, are all out of the budget I imagine 😅

Personally Witwer’s Palpatine never sounded quite right to me.

My god, you are just incapable of being constructive or tactful with your criticisms, aren’t you?

I’m just incredibly oblivious. I lack self-awareness and since it’s been pointed out recently I have become more conscious of it and tried to improve but it can be difficult. Like here what I said didn’t sound particularly negative to me, but I guess it did to others. Sorry about that.

Also lol at Malàstrana 2. When’s the hammer suit returning?

As I finish working on an update to my ANH project, the only thing outstanding about my SW edits is the Rey Nobody version of TROS. That aside, being an alternate cut anyway, things have never felt this complete. Like it’s time to let it be.
It’s been a great experience the past 8 years or so putting these together. It’s been a hobby and communal thing. There’ll be some sadness, but I know it can’t go on forever.
I will stick around in any event, and I won’t say “never,” even if I set things down intending to do so for good with SW fan editing. I know there’s work to be done yet, but at the same time, it feels like I’d better plan to “retire” once it is.

If the right idea grabs me, I would be happy to tinker with other things, but the SW saga can soon be laid to rest comfortably. And that feels good to this looooongtime OT.com weirdo.

Unusual Sequel Trilogy Radical Redux Ideas Thread

^^^I’ve seen this easily done w/ Adobe Premier Pro and such but I simply don’t have/can’t afford the program. pls help

Premiere Pro is just editing software like any other. Da Vinci Resolve is free and fully equipped. Maybe you mean Adobe After Effects?

We know it’s not the only base, because Snoke isn’t there. Also, within mere hours they have control of the Galaxy. If their primary, let alone only, base is destroyed: they wouldn’t have the manpower or strategic positioning to make this happen.

Actually, the First Order instantly taking over the Galaxy is my single greatest grip with the trilogy and something I’m keen to erase any hint of. When they blow up the Senate, it just becomes a race to the conquer the Galaxy by two equal sides. I guess I’ll have to imply somehow that the Resistance fleet in TLJ is just one cell.

Every time someone talks about how something’s unfeasible in these radical redux threads, I kinda want to point them out to the absolutely batshit insane stuff in the earlier posts on the prequel radical redux thread.

Tbf, those posts are almost old enough to be in high school.

Turning Pasaana into Jedha does nothing for me. It’s still just another boring desert. Making Exegol Korriban doesn’t work because Korriban’s location should be well known.

I think if one were to try to get rid of the superweapon aspect of Starkiller Base, you could make the mission 1) Get the the other half of the map to Skywalker, and 2) Rescue Rey. It would make a lot of sense to make this change, since most of the film revolves around the search for Skywalker, then it gets sort of forgotten in the final act in favor another “destroy the superweapon” climax.

Instead of Han and Finn capturing Phasma in order for her to lower the shields, you could change the screen graphics to show the larger portion of the map that they need. Basically, Phasma is forced to give them the other half of the map, which Kylo Ren says they have at different points in the film. So no planetary shield, they drop out of hyperspace close to the planet only to not be detected by their sensors.

By implementing new computer screen inserts, as well as First Order officer/X-Wing pilot off-screen dialogue, you could reestablish the Oscillator as a planetary-scale tractor beam. After Rey escapes, the First Order could activate it so she (nor the Falcon) can escape. This is when the Resistance swoops in to try and help destroy it so they can escape with the map. They struggle with destroying it, which is when Han and the gang come in with their explosives. The “tractor beam” explodes, but the end is altered so the planet doesn’t explode.

I really like this. My only complaint is that they don’t bring a droid with them to hack the map out and instead we have to sit through that painful Finn and Phasma scene.

How would an edit like this deal with the ground splitting apart and stopping Rey from killing Kylo?

Concept art for the planet showed it having lava free flowing and I think that’d be a good way to further distinguish it from Hoth. This would easily explain the fissure that ends the duel.

Leia has sent her most daring pilot on a secret mission to Jakku, where a former Imperial cartographer has discovered the missing piece to Luke’s whereabouts…

I can take it or leave it. I don’t mind one way or the other.
