the inclusion of the DSII after the credits was inspired by the end of the old computer game "doom", if anyone remembers the bunny on the spike, then the slow reveal of the gateway to hell.

as long as ady doesn't use the music from doom im sure erik stormtrooper's idea would work nicely.

I remember that! That part with the bunny-head always used to scare me when I played that when I was, like, 7 or 8 years old. Now, it still disturbs me, but at least I can watch it without running outta the room and missing Bobby Prince's cool music.

As for the DSII, this is the only idea I can think of for bringing it in that wouldn't be intrusive. I personally like it, though Ady should probably use the skeletal Death Star from ROTS and cut that bit out of ROTSR.

That is, IF he does it.

...Could this become the new 'flipper debate'?

I'm probably gonna sound like a moocher, 'cause I don't know how to PIF, but could someone mail me a copy of the DVD-9 with Adywan's exquisite DVD artwork and disc-art once it's released? I don't have a DVD burner on my computer, nor do I personally know anyone who does. That's the only reason I'm not doing this myself.

If someone says yes, you get to know my address!

PS: I live in the US. That should narrow it down a little.

Please don't take this personally, you're not the only one, but why not spend $30 and buy one. Seriously I don't understand why that is such a problem.

My family is facing dire financial hardships right now. My dad's been having foot and knee problems, and has acquired a pulmonary embolism at that! He can't walk more than a block without hyperventilating, so his job is out of the question right now. My mom's job pays the bills, but that's ALL it does. We're literally living off of food stamps; that's how we get our perishables.

So basically, my life is totally screwed up at the moment.

That's why I can't buy a DVD-DL burner, or a DVD/CD printer.

God, am I looking forward to my summer job. Gotta get me some dough!

Adywan, watching the credits for ANHR recently, I'm rather curious. Because, if memory serves correctly, only ESB and ROTJ had credits where the star field remained visible when the credits started scrolling up.

Are you planning on maintaining the star field from beginning to end of the credits of all 'Revisited' SW films, a la ESB and ROTJ's credits? That's my question.

Yikes! I leave a couple days and hell breaks loose on Ady's computer! I can't think of anything to say that others haven't, but I'll just say that I hope this situation is resolved quickly. Even so, I too would gladly wait till the 31st anniversary of SW to see this DVD on my doorstep.

May the Force be with you, Ady.

This is of course only a temp. You can't see a lot of the detail in this but I did more then just "cut and paste". But you get the idea.

Thanks again to OBtwosy for the dvd logos

O_O Wow. That has to be the BEST of all the DVD covers I've seen here. And some of the others were impressive, mind!

A question regarding the DVD covers, though, to those in the know: is there going to be a 'finalist' DVD cover that is gonna be the one DVD cover used for all these 'Revisited' DVDs, or is everyone going to be able to pick their own preferred DVD cover from those available? I would like to know, please.

Not me.

Heheh. I'm breaking the chain. I wanna find the Flanneled One on my own.

Anyway, just finished watching it with my dad, and he thought that for a fanwork, it was pretty good. His favorite part was the extended Death Star battle. He didn't notice that Chewie got a medal till I told him to look at Chewie.

I, however, was much more enthused by what I saw. I really liked:
- the opening battle.
- the escape pod entering the Tatooine atmosphere.
- the new "sandcrawler cresting the dune" shot.
- the battle droid sitting in the sandcrawler.
- hearing Beru's old voice for the first time; first time I ever heard it!
- the re-editing of the scene in Ben's hut flowed much better (me and Dad agreed on this).
- the new Alderaanian explosion ROCKED!
- the sounds of Chewie cracking skulls in the Falcon on the Death Star was good, addressing the idea of there being no blaster marks on the walls.
- the new work done to the Obi/Vader battle. I thought it a tad dodgy to add Battle of the Heroes to the scene, but I think it worked well.
- the new TIE battle with the Falcon, and the hyperspace wormhole in the following scene.
- the new Death Star hologram, and the displays on the screen with it.
- the whole Death Star battle! The new holograms were cool and seamlessly integrated. The additions into the background really fleshed the battle out, IMO, Luke calling out Biggs' name (where'd you get that sound clip from?) and the new explosion, complete with unfired shot, really made the victory much closer. I actually waxed Lando Calrissian: "That was too close."
- and, of course, Chewie getting his medal.

One or two little gripes, though: in the new "Your powers are weak" shot, Vader's chestplate slides a little. I realize that this is the evidence of having flipped it, but don't sweat too much over it; I wouldn't notice it if I wasn't looking for it.

Also, and I blame myself for this, but my name isn't in the credits. I know it's a hassle, so don't put my name in the credits unless you really feel you have to. I mean, you already locked the credits, as you've said. I don't wanna make finishing this beast any harder. I can always have my name put in on the next one.

Everything else that I was concerned over (the severed arm, for instance) has already been addressed for the DVD release.

On the whole, though, I'd like to say that this is likely the only version I'll show my family when I have kids of my own. I'll show them the originals if they ask to see it, so I'll still hold onto my 2006 DVDs just in case.

My congratulations to you, Adywan, for making my Definitive Edition of Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope!

EDIT: Just in case you do decide to put my name in, Ady, I'd like to be listed as Michael "Amras Felagund" Lloyd.

Not that I'm asking you to add my name to the credits; it's something optional that I'd really like to see. You don't have to put my name in if it'll be too much of a hassle, or it will be too frustrating. I understand that I missed my window, but I would really like to show my kids in the vague future, "Look, see? Daddy's name is in the credits of a Star Wars movie!" Again, only do it if you want to, not if you feel you have to. I'm sure I'll draw a lot of heat for making this request so late in the game, but still...I don't want to make this harder for you, pal. I'll understand if you ignore this small request.

And may the Force be with you...always.

S'okay. I can wait a few more weeks. I mean, Super Smash Bros. Brawl was delayed until March 9th from February 10th, but I'm not overly annoyed; just reassured of the fact that the quality is the utmost priority.

BTW, what's the difference between a DVD-5 and a DVD-9? 'Cause I think I might be going for DVD-9 when all is said and done.

I woke up to 59 email alerts that people posted here, and I thought, "Wow, Ady must have made a whopper of an update!" And it turns out...

He did!

Congratulations and thank you, Adywan! I can hardly wait to get this baby in the mail and pop it into my DVD player! First time I'll have ever seen a Star Wars work of this magnitude not out of Lucasfilm.

Take a well-earned rest before starting on ESB! Lord knows you deserve it.

May the Force be with you...always.

I'm dying to see the scene too, but I find it hard to side with you given how impatient you're being. You should be glad good ol' Ady is pushing the release further back, because it means he ain't cutting any corners just to get this out on time! If Ady wants us to wait, it's because he wants the final product to be as good as he can get it.

In short, to quote Ben Kenobi: "Patience!"

Also, on a less irritating note, is there anyone in the USA that can ship a copy to the City of Brotherly Love when Ady's finished? If anyone's willing, I'll send you my exact address. THX!

Wow... It's almost finished... (If I seem unenthused, I'm just stunned is all.)

When all is said and done, I'd love to have a copy of this for my little DVD library.

Can't wait to see those last two shots. Well, I mean I can wait for them, but I'm just excited to see them. Of course, I would like for them to stay a surprise until the DVD is in my DVD drive.

Good luck on these last two shots, Adywan! May the Force be with you in this endeavour.

It should also be available for download, so if you have a fast enough internet connection and a DVD burner, you should be able to make your own copy, as well.

Hope this helps!

Take care,

Sounds sweet! And I know I'll want it as good as it can be, so I'll wait to get a DVD through the mail. And I know I can. Besides, it's great to see how nice everyone is. It would be tedious sending 1 or 2 bucks through PayPal for shipping, so I appreciate the thought. Looks like I'm gonna spend quite a bit of time here on originaltrilogy.com.

There won't be any money changing hands for this edit. As Fendon said, i am doing this for free.

That's sounds great and all, but the question isn't what you charge, but how much shipping is gonna cost. I live in the States, and I'm concerned that shipping might be too much for my family's meager income. How bad is it? The Weasleys would consider themselves fortunate. That's how bad it is.

One way or the other, though, I'm definitely dying my milk blue when I watch this!

Anyway, my angsty life aside, the most recent clips looked awesome! At the moment, my head's feeling a bit vague, since I'm listening to Sweeney Todd right now, but rest assured, I've not been quite as excited for Star Wars stuff in quite a few years.

Just watched the Mos Eisley clips, and the only way to get it out is to do a list of things I liked:

- liked the retooled approach into Mos Eisley.
- liked how the Ronto isn't there in the first shot with the stormtroopers. It didn't strike me as intrusive when I first saw the SE (hey, I was just shy of 8!), but now it is. THX for it!
- liked the reworked aliens in the cantina.
- liked the new Luke line (I didn't know it was a different line than was said on the day of shooting).
- liked that ONLY HAN SHOOTS (that's what it should be, 'cause technically, Greedo didn't shoot in '77)!
- liked Ganleigh III (wow, sounds Star Wars-y).
- liked the view of Alderaan out of the window, because the first shot of it through the window always bugged me when I saw the DVDs. Now, it looks great AND consistent!
- LOVED the new Alderaan explosion!

An early Merry Christmas to you, Adywan!

Just throwing in my two cents:

Leave ESB Yoda be. Maybe do some 'Cantina' work to his mouth and eyes to add more blinks and marginally more articulation to his lips. Note the word 'marginally'. I'm sure we all want Yoda to look as magical as he did in 1980 (which is weird for me to say, since I'd have been -9 years old then, but I'm sure people will agree).

May the Force be with you, Ady, in fixing those sound channels.
