STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

I usually don't like these MyFace-type websites, but y'know what? If it's for Adywan and the Revisited Star Wars saga, I don't care.

And I think that Ady has been doing a bang-up job on what has been shown in these three most recent vids. The tiny little shuttle only reinforces, even though they themselves are dwarfed by the Executor, just how large the Imperial Star Destroyers are.

I really gotta reply here more often; I feel a little like my inclusion in the credits is a little unwarranted.

Ah well.

I really look forward to this, as usual! I can't think of much else to say; my mind's a real muddle with all the college stuff going on right now.

The easiest and obvious remedy for this 2004 problem is to return the hologram conversation to it's 1980 text but with Ian's voice (like what Ady has already done).

HELL NO!!!

He doesn't sound old enough to be the emperor, at least, not the one i'm used to.

ady, btw, has blended the two voices together and that works for me.

No, i haven't blended the two Emperor voices. i used Ian's voice from the 2004 DVDs but timed to match the original emperor.

Yeah, I did notice that his cadence was a little different from the original 2004 DVD [PARADOX!!!]. He spoke a wee bit faster than the DVD Emperor did.

Also, a belated "AWESOME WORK!!!" on managing to restore the first "yes" in the Emperor's scene. I always liked that, and was let down that it was omitted in 2004.

...Sorry, I just HAD to paraphrase Watchmen's Dr. Manhattan there. It just... blew me away! I have a GOOD feeling about this!

well i can't see why selling some hand built stuff would be illegal. There is no way i could possibly think of selling the sets though. The canyon alone is going to be 13ft & 3ft and the hangar is going to be huge also so no possible way to ship these things in one piece. I may, however, be selling the Wampa and some of the smaller things that i wouldn't be needing for any of the other films in the saga. But its getting the money together to get the things done in the first place that's the problem. lol

Well, the only alternative I can think of is that you could take an INSANE number of photos of the larger sets, like the canyon and the hangar, for perusal by your many fans.

If I had any money to spare, I would gladly dispense some to see some of the models for this fan edit completed. Of course, hopefully by the time you're selling those models (maybe), we'll be sufficiently secure over here in the US of A (in a financial sense) where I would be able to purchase, like, the Wampa or something. (Which I can't really wait to see, by the way.)

Well... I guess... all I can say to Ady is... MTFBWY!

yeh i like the look of this one too. i've noticed that the horns are actually part of the wampas cheeks instead of ones protruding from the side of its head. this would explain why, when they added the extra fur to the cheeks, that the horns became hidden as they couldn't tuck the fur underneath them.

So I think we can expect that the final Wampa puppet will look something like this one, right?

Oh, and doubleofive, I will be sending you a PM regarding my civilian identity (wow, do I sound like a super-hero or what?) for inclusion in the credits for ESB:R. I want to see my name in the credits for a Star Wars movie.

EDIT: I just remembered. Ady, you mentioned that there will be no new music added in ESB:R. No complaints here. But still, you'll probably need to for the OriginalTrilogy.Com credits. If I guess correctly, you're gonna use the music from the full-length pieces from the soundtrack, like the full-length versions of Yoda's Theme and the Imperial March. Right? 'Cause technically, that's not new music.

Just because you're a clone doesn't mean you have the same voice. A clone of someone raised in another country will speak a different language with a different accent, thereby changing their vocal pattern, despite being an exact copy of a person on the other side of the world...

Case in point, Ewan McGregor in The Island. He plays two characters in that: a clone and the template. The clone has an American accent (and Ewan does a FANTASTIC American accent, for anyone who's seen this or Down with Love), and the template has Ewan's natural UK accent.

Sorry, but I had to respond to that. I think that this illustrates that accents are not hereditary fairly well.

A little nagging thing that I think needs to be addressed:

Yoda's forefinger wobbles a bit as he unclenches his fist as he says "feel the Force around you..." I mean, I have no problem with Yoda's ears wobbling, but his finger wobbling as he unclenches his fist feels a little too 'dejarik table' to me.

And to think I only noticed this bug as I was watching it a minute or two ago. It should be a cinch to address.

I haven't posted here in a while, but I hit upon an idea that, like many postulated here, may or may not work.

Perhaps the "Luke and Leia" theme could play when Luke contacts Leia from under Cloud City, in place of the Force Theme. Of course, the original music could "bleed" through under the new music, so... I'm not altogether sure about this. It could work, but still...

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

...Man, I haven't posted here in ages!

As for Boba Fett's voice... all in all, I think Jason Wingreen's performance outdoes Temuera Morrison's in all aspects. As much as I like the work you did to Morrison's voice, GoodMusician, I think just switching whole-sale back to Wingreen is the best option. Of course, that's what I think. What you did was great; the inflections on the word 'dead' could be worked on a little more, though.

Still, I could live with either the retooling of Morrison's voice or just switching to Wingreen's voice, so long as the 'retooling' brings in the menace in Wingreen's tone that is missing in Morrison's.

Of course, Adywan has the final say here. We'll have to wait and see what he thinks on this.

I have a couple of ideas floating around for a box for this set.

Darn it! Now I wish I had that for the ANHR DVD! I mean, Adywan's cover is good, but this would be an awesome alternative!

What symbols did you use for each film?

Ok clues to the whereabouts of the easter eggs.

1. in the place where Americans call trash reside you must turn left when you reach commander Riker of the Enterprise to meet the group of judges at the talent show. Here lies you destiny

2. when you are in that special place where they fly-by night, you discover the secret where to where the unwanted are kept. You must resist temptation and right your wrongs to find the find the one who dons the combined spectrum of light

Pretty easy really. Have fun. the answers on Tuesday evening

Heh... I found them pretty easy the night after I got the DVD from vbangle (kudos to you, man!). I just clicked back and forth on all menus until I found both easter eggs.

Your clues sound like something outta EarthBound, if you ask me! Like the sorta prophecy Buzz Buzz is buzzing about when he first meets Ness at the start of the game.

But I digress; this is Originaltrilogy.Com, not Starmen.Net.

Wow! That seriously looks MUCH more natural.

And the first 90 minutes has been color-corrected? Already?!

Hopefully, the last forty minutes will be a walk for you. After the color-correcting, there's not much I can think of to do to ESB for the Revisted edition.

Oh yeah! And when Luke's hand is cut off, the lightsaber blade looks like it was chopped off just a centimeter or so from the top of the screen. I can't find a screengrab of it, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. That should be a (relatively) simple fix.

Anyone have a quick, concise layman's explanation of how par2 files work? And how exactly do they get those gnomes into your computer to fix everything? :)

Gnomes... oh my... can you beleive this loser? GNOMES! What a moron!

Everyone with a tech degree knows it is 100% gremlin based magic... That is why you always end up with one part too few pars to recover! Although it helps to sacrifice a goldfish on your keyboard before beginning invoking that particular necromancy.

Been following these forums for a while, but this is my first time posting (anywhere on these boards)

I was thinking about this whole "Luke Skywalker" line in Ian's voice thing. And I have an idea on it that may be just slightly less ludicrous, maybe slightly more.

Anyway, on the ROTS soundtrack release, there is a bonus DVD Star Wars: A Musical Journey. I'm sure tons of you have it or at least know of it. On it, there are several introductions done by Ian McDiarmid of various pieces of Star Wars music. And several times, he says "Luke Skywalker". Now granted, the tone and inflection may be off, it's Ian's normal speaking voice, but perhaps someone knowledgeable with sound manipulation could make it sound a bit more like the Emperor? Just a thought, might be a good starting place.

BTW, Ady, loved A new Hope Revisited. Downloading the DVD-9 right now. This is my preferred version of Star Wars, and I cannot wait to see what you do with the rest of the saga.

Wow... I have the Musical Journey, and doing that honestly never crossed my mind. And it could perhaps work! I personally don't think it sounds ludicrous. More plausible than mine, I'll give you that. Could mean that Ady wouldn't have to have someone record himself trying to sound like the Emperor.

And like I said before, if the joint between the new word 'Luke' and the the phrase around it, 'We have a new enemy: ____ Skywalker', is too noticeable, a burst of static in the Emperor's audio could work (the Executor is just outside an asteroid field, after all).

Even so, adjusting the pitch to Ian McDiarmid's voice to sound like old Palpsy's croak could be all that's needed to be done to Ian saying 'Luke Skywalker'.

The first color pass looks good so far, Ady! The blue tint should stay out of the Star Wars movies except in hyperspace, and should stay in the 'real world' scenes of the Matrix.

(I grew up with the Special Editions, and the 2004 DVDs came out when I was fifteen, but I gotta say, this version of ESB looks to be almost the definitive, the one that I'll stick with. I'll hold onto the official DVDs, sure, but this will be the one that'll be on my DVD shelf!)

And after the horrors of the color work done on the 2004 DVDs, this should be a walk, right?

BTW, the Executor is also blue throughout this and ROTJ (I think). I'm assuming that's getting the grey treatment as well?

Also, I have an idea for how to have Emperor Palpatine say 'Luke Skywalker' in the transmission, instead of 'young Skywalker'. However, it's too crazy, in my opinion, to be taken seriously. Some would call it 'thinking outside the box'. If said box is the Box of Sanity, I'd agree with them.

(...Man, I'm seriously gonna make or break my credibility on this site with this suggestion. All these people reading how crazy I am...)

My idea involves getting someone to imitate Ian McDiarmid's evil Emperor voice for the phrase "Luke Skywalker", and blending the word "Luke" into the dialogue we already have of Palpatine's. If the joint between Ian McDiarmid's dialogue and the newly recorded "Luke" is too obvious, perhaps a burst of static on the hologram could mask it. Who would do the extra Emperor dialogue, I don't know. Who would take this idea seriously... well, I guess I'll find out soon, won't I?

I apologize in advance if my suggestion is too far out there.

*takes a deep breath*

...Well, here goes nothing.

EDIT: My heart's beating so fast right now!

thank for the help guys. Luckily i've managed to dig out a pre-thx VHS tape. As long as that horrible tint is gone and the colouring looks natural then i've achieved what i have set out to do.

Sure Needa says get a shuttle ready, but instead of showing the shuttle leaving, wouldn't they show it going up into the underbelly of the Executer. Not just first leaving? And even if this is the case, why do you feel the need to change it? Simply because you don't like the design of the shuttle? You assume all imperials use the the same type shuttle? Change it because you can?

No, because the Lambda class shuttle became the ship that the imperial use from ROTJ onwards (including the SE ESB)> the Lambda makes more sense and visually it represents the imperial shuttle, not the shuttle we see in ESB. A Lambda style shuttle can even be seen in ROTS so, to me, this point to the fact that it is the shuttle the imperials use. To me that shuttle in ESB looks like Vaders TIE with the wings facing outwards instead of inwards. As for why we see it coming from the stardestroyer and not going into the underbelly of the Executor well thats because this shot works perfectly, showing the audience both its original location and its destination. We know that its Needa in the shuttle because it comes from the stardestroyer. If we just saw it entering the underbelly then that visual marker is lost.

Sevb32 said:

The fact that the new Vader shuttle sequences all combined last less than 20 seconds. Oh the tedious slowness! Some here carry on like they last 5 or 10 minutes.

I don't think you get what everyone is on about and why the new sequences don't fit. Watch the pre-SE version of the escape from Bespin and then watch the SE version. Look how those new additions completely cut the pace of that sequence. We don't need any visual explanation that Vader gets in his shuttle and flies to his stardestroyer. The original "bring my shuttle" line perfectly explained this. This became one of the big problems with the PT. There were conversations and scenes that tried to explain things when it wasn't needed and they just became boring.

Sevb32 said:

Were only in a debate if I say something, if anyone else says anything, it's for some reason OK.

thats not strictly true. The main reason people are getting angry towards your suggestions is that, after i have explained in detail (sometimes recently NUMEROUS amounts of times) why i will be taking out the shots you personally like you still push and push it. Making suggestions is one thing but you then seem to campaign for your suggestion to be taken notice of even after i have said the reasons why i wouldn't be including it . You then make remarks like this:
Sevb32 said:

If those elements of Vader's shuttle leaving Bespin and docking in the Star Destroyer were in there since the 1980 release of Empire, would so many of you be so gung-ho to remove them? I don't think so.

Well to answer than then YES i would still remove them, the same way i edited the Ben hut scene in ANH and the same way i'll be doing a lot of editing when i get round to ROTJ. Some people recently seem to be turning this into a "you all hate the SE's so thats why you want all the changes gone" type of argument. This isn't the case. I like the SE's but not all the additions worked at all. Seeing the Wampa was great after all the years of not really seeing him but it also took away the mystery of that creature so i want to return that scene to having that mystery so no more wampa. I love the fly-through with the pod car in cloud city because it does show some of the scale of the city and i feel that it brings us into the following shot nicely. The Sarlaac i like although it does look like the flower from Little shop of horrors, but the musical number is horrendous so i'll be getting rid of that, and Hayden replacing Sebastian Shaw, well don't get me started on that....

Sevb32 said:

Obviously Ady, can do whatever the hell he wants, but all I am suggesting is that he leaves these in, I am not arguing about the "Bring My Shuttle" line, I want it back, but it would be nice to keep any shots of the cloud city environment if at all possible. Crop that shuttle on the landing platform just out of frame so the old line works.

Well unfortunately it still doesn't work. The original line only exists in stereo format with the music clearly heard. The music was changed for the SE so the new line wouldn't fit so returning it to the original scene is the only way to go, plus we really don't need that extra shot of Vader anyway. Never have and never will.

Like i said check the original first and then look at the SE. The original works & flows together so much better while the SE just becomes a series of clips. All the shuttle shots are going and that is my last word on the subject.

Amen to that, brother!

On a (hopefully) less incendiary note, I have a question directed towards you, Adywan:

When big-time work on ESBR begins, do you plan to retain the blue tint that the TIEs in ESB and ROTJ have had since 1980, or are they gonna be made light-grey to match up with ANHR?

I could personally go either way, so whatever you do with the TIEs, Ady, is fine with me.
