(That riff at 2:40 ooh boy) (I'm sure MelodySheep would be totally cool with it)

Maybe you could fill all of the credits with the original closing theme and good fan songs!

What a pile of shit!!

You're too kind.

I made the suggestion half in jest, might be nice considering that revisited might be the definitive version for many fans, celebrating the fandom in this way.

But I'm glad you can so eloquently illustrate why it is a bad idea.

But really, perhaps his more recent work is more interchangable because modern movies are more formulaic? He had a great score in the originals because he had so much more emotions in the movie to be inspired by.

So here's hoping for episode VII!

EDIT:

Here's an idea. You know how movies almost always have different songs playing over the credits? I'm not sure what plays for a new hope I mean return of the jedi. (Well empire could work too I guess, but yoda dies in rotj so I think that'd be more apropriate), but if there's just regular score, maybe you could put in this song:

Well, I haven't got my review quite ready. But I can tell you that I was amazed at how much you changed. I LOVED the new music. The luke themes when Anakin leaves are so freaking perfect. In the way that you changed the music you changed almost everything, you altered dialogue, the story, the pacing, the structure. And I just loved that. I've always held the view that just about every Phantom Menace edit changed far too little. It's silly to me that anyone can say that the movie is fixed by streamlining it and just cutting things without altering anything else. So yeah, great edit. Not without flaw, but you'll read that in my review.

Oh I have thought about editing it many times. I think I already have my perfect edit in my head.

Maybe I'll look into doing it this weekend. If I would work on anything like this it'd either take along time or become a type of workprint since I have zero editing experience.

I'd love to see my ideas brought out there, and see people's reactions though.

Arguably the official version is a broken as it could get.

The silent version (which fixes the PT to a large extent) is on fanedit.info hopefully Frink will be around in a minute to point you in the right direction of The Phantom Hour.

If you don't mean reduced by one tenth you really shouldn't use the only word that means it.

Especially when I'm around ;-D

decimated  past participle, past tense ofdec·i·mate (Verb)

  1. Kill, destroy, or remove a large percentage of.

Yes, I know that decimating something means taking off a tenth, but I was hoping you'd understand it as the common usage to mean severely destroyed.

Is there any version so short, available anywhere? Because I haven't been able to find any.

Do you, or possible anyone else, have the one hour version of the phantom menace? Or the lone gungan edit?

If not, mayhaps someone might point me to the otherwise most decimated version of tpm?

Well, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 : 1 ;)

It depends on the asteroid field (how much rocks and dirts fly around) and the pilots skill - but it's sure a foolish task to do ;-)

Actually, the chances of you even coming close to an asteroid are over a million to one.

See, this is another classic symptom of mankind's inability to grasp the vastness of space.

I think If I did a fan edit of the movies I'd cut the 3po 'chances' dialogue. Of course, it's quite a fan beloved piece of banter, so that's just me.

Info &amp; Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist

Another point about the RotJ battle:

We all have problems with the ewoks, and how a whole batallion of the so called elite troops of the emperor simply break rank and run when attacked by rocks and bows.

I am watching it at the moment and I was struck with an idea: Chewbacca takes over an at-st in the middle of the battle. What if that scene is placed near the beginning? The scene of them taking it is quite seperate from other events, so there would be no chronological issue there.

It would explain the way the troops just run off like that. They are taking cover before it fires at them.

And I also support the idea of the Death Star wreck. I always thought that the complete desintegration of the original ds was kinda overdone anyhow.

I don't really get the issues surrounding the luke and leia relationship. They didn't know they were related, people have done worse things than just kiss whilst being related without prior knowledge.

I'd advocate editing the kiss scene, so that the actual kiss only lasts as short as it can. So that it's more of a peck than a romantic thing. But not any more changes to their relationship.

Idea: Alternate ROTJ Ending Concept
Time

I simply can not wrap my head around that logic. Sure, disliking the 97' theme is perfectly acceptable. But to find it an annoying new agey type deal, and then like yub nub MORE?

It's the kind of fucking song they'd put in an after school special! If it were up to me I'd make my perfect editions of the OT, and destroy all copies containing yub nub. I like the 97' theme but I HATE yub nub.

That being said. The force theme. My god! It's PERFECT. It mirrors the scene with luke looking off into the sunset!

Again, it's like poetry, it rhymes. Except it's also a good idea.

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>

Has anyone thought about sound effects before? I mean, the immersive elements of film are really visuals and the sound that goes with it. Not the music, because only the sound effects are tied to the visuals on screen.

I know that in many ways the old sound effects define the starwars experience, but I believe that the movie can come across as much more realistic and a far more effective experience if some outdated sound effects were removed, and new ones were added in.

I see it as possibly being the difference between dvd and blu-ray sound quality, in some respects. I was never very excited about blu ray, but then I watched my first blu-ray movie, that being Saving Private Ryan. So immediatly I was gripped by the amazing realism of the sound in the opening scenes. The explosions, and especially gun fire. As though someone really was firing a weapon.

Or perhaps I've gone on a useless tangent, and Adywan already did some work sound wise? I've seen revisited, and I don't believe that was the case but I might be wrong. Anyhow, it's something I feel could be looked into, and is a great tool to enhance the experience.

Idea: 'The Never The Same Saga Twice' Thread.
Time

I must apologize again for necromancy. :P

This is a great idea. But thinking that this is possible on a disc is quite silly. Furthermore, it is much less possible to be done by fan editors in no official capacity.

What I would suggest is a very simple coded program. You'd program an expandable list, let the user fill it with his fan edits. That way, fan editors could also create alternate versions of their fan edits, and those could be added to the list. Then you just press the "Play Random" button.

Idea &amp; Info: Looking forward to... Avengers - The Extended Fan Cut <em>Spoilers</em>
Time

Forgive the necromancing of this thread, if you please.

Iron man's voice, the masks, the quiver, war machine, black widow's accent.

These are all useless tweaks. I will not object to anyone making a fan edit their own vision. But I wouldn't like these changes. They are needlessly complicated from a special effects stand point and they don't return on that investment in my eyes.

Cap's suit though. What is that, spandex? My god if anyone was good enough to give him a more protective outfit that would be a super boost to my immersion. You even see it in the end battle where he's all scratched and such, and you just notice how thin it is, how flimsy. This is probably even a bigger job than the suggestions I commented on in the beginning of this post, but this I think would make a difference.

It would also be very nice if the "council" wasn't just a group of nameless international mooks just there to give us more tension, and the nuke. Making them a nod to other marvel works would be a nice touch. Still, not an improvement to the quality of the film.

Personally I would simply add in the 30 minutes of footage. barring anything that is completely useless or actually bad, I haven't seen it all.

Then I'd write a letter to Joss Whedon to tell him to not snip great cap scenes like that and give him a damn weapon and some actual protection rather than a gymnast outfit.

The Unofficial Complete REVISITED SAGA Ideas and Random Discussion Thread
Time

Does anyone know what Ady's plans are when it comes to the looks of the films? There is a huge difference between the way the two trilogies were made. So what I would like to see, as some of you might too, is to see the prequel trilogy to be color corrected to be more in line with the original trilogy. Possibly some effects or designs could be removed or replaced to give the sense more that this is one setting, and not just scifi designs of different decades. Because as we can all see there is just a bit too big of a difference between the two trilogy, even though the original is supposed to take place further in the future.

A Prequel Duology
Time

Fairuz Hidayat has a topic on this forum where he discusses his early ideas for a fan edit. The idea came up to place Palpatine's early AotC discussion about the seperatists and the turmoil in the republic before the jedi go to negotiate with the Trade Federation. His rough cut had a perfect hard cut between the line "My Negotiations, will not fail." to the Jedi's ship speeding past the camera and towards the federation ship.  This gave me an idea, and in the night I was thinking about how starting the movie like this could be the start of a fan edit maybe. But obviously the prequels are too silly to really make anything good out of, I thought. Then the thought popped into my head: Split the attack of the clones up, and create a prequel fan edit duology! Wheels were turning, thoughts were molding, and I really think this could be a game changer. And so, today I started writing an actual script for this imaginary edit. Now, it's not a real script, just a scene by scene write up, but it tells the full story. And I sure would love your criticism and feedback. I can't think of anything, but I am very sure I missed a lot of problems and scene changes that might be needed. So any details of your reaction are sorely needed.

Now here's the link to download the psuedo script: File "Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith duology script.docx"

Here's a TL;DR version if it:
-Opens with naboo vs trade federation space battle.

-All Jar Jar and Gungan City scenes cut.

-All tatooine scenes from TPM are cut.

-All battle droid dialogue cut.

-Trade Federation aliens use subtitles for dialogue changes.

-After the battle for naboo (with only the queen vs viceroy and jedi vs sith parts retained) qui-gon is burned and then the attack of the clones footage starts.

-The Clone Wars ends with the burial of Anakin's mother, and seperatist meeting and other geonosis footage is moved to the beginning of sith.

-First action scene of sith is geonosis arena and battle.

-Death star mini plot removed

-Ends on Darth Vader reveal, with him center screen.
