Ever since it was released, I've been extremely annoyed by the audio fuck ups on the 2004 DVD release of ANH. Were these simply errors on the part of the audio mixers, or what? I mean, the DVD was bittersweet to me: it had EXCELLENT picture quality, but the audio was HORRIBLE. First off, the majoprity of it sounds very echoed and distant. Second, several lines are messed up badly; Tarkin's "Then name the system," and Luke's "You mean it controls your actions?"

So, does anyone with a knowlegde of sound/insider's info on the 2004 DVD production tell me what happened? I mean, ESB and ROTJ had EXCELLENT sound quality, and I don't have a problem at all with it. I just want the audio in ANH to sound just like the audio in ESB and ROTJ.

(And, by the way, this thread is not intended to bash any changes made to the DVDs, only to discuss what happened to the audio quality.)

Well, what I mean is that most of this pop culture influence has come from those who grew up when the OT was released. When those people fade away, so to will SW, I'm afraid.

I don't know Adam. Why would anyone watch Star Wars episodes 1, 2 and 3, before they see ANH, ESB, and ROTJ.

Because THEY ARE INTENDED BY THEIR CREATOR to be seen before ANH, ESB, and ROTJ. Sequels, on the other hand, are intended to be seen afterwords.

It would be like someone saying "Why would someone watch ANH before ESB?" Well, because ESB is INTENDED BY TIS CREATOR to be watched after ANH.

I honestly believe that all of SW will fade away eventually. Not that it will become unknown, but that it will not be as well known as ANY of it is now. People will look at SW as a whole and say "Yeah, those were fun classics." But they will be regarded as, say, Indiana Jones is now. People will appreciate it, but it won't be something everyone will continue to know about.

The one thing about the general public that we sometimes forget as that, as a whole, they aren't such film citics as we are. Generally, they seem to be quite casual when it comes to such things. As TheCassidy said "They are controlled by the media. They will simply move on to the next big thing." I mean, film buffs will still love and cherish them, but to everyone else, they'll be just another series of so-called classics from the past.

Exactly. He meant that if Vader struck him down, he would no longer be accessable by Vader, and could reach Luke any time he wanted, in order to help and guide him. That is exactly why Yoda and Qui-Gon trained Obi-Wan on Tatooine between ROTS and ANH, so as to prepare Obi-Wan for the training of Luke.

Lucas won't let it, I am sure of that. The 3D Clone Wars series, the live-action series, the video games, and his planned 3D theatrical releases of all six will prevent that from happening.
