Sometimes do you feel like you should give up on the cause?

The second type of fans are those who first experienced the saga after 1997. They either aren't familar with or do not cherish the originals the way the others do. These are the fans who say things like "Jar-Jar should be in A New Hope," or "Han Solo looks cooler dodging Greedo's shot!"

I fall into this category, but I certainly don't like the fact that Greedo shot first. It completely messed up Han's character and the purpose of character development on him. I am glad that at least Lucas met us halfway on that and made them shoot at about the same time. As for Jar Jar, I think that anyone over the age of 5 is embarrassed by him. To me, he's there for comic relief in the beginning, so that the series doesn't start out too serious, and be boring. Him being there basically eases you into the serious situation the galaxy is in. It was smart of Lucas to gradually reduce Jar Jar"s part to nothing, as things got more serious. He also did the fans a favor in having Jar Jar the one who let the clones be made, and allow all the problems.

I support Lucas' changes to the 2004 DVD's. I, for one, think Hayden should be there. It does make sense. I actually hope for a few more for the HD-DVD, including a CG Yoda. The changes are his right as a filmmaker. Yoiu have to look at it as the film has taken 30 years worth of drafts to complete. However, I still feel the theatrical versions should be on DVD for the nastolgia to some, and film history.
