Implied starting date of the Empire from OT dialogue
Time

In fact, Kasdan actually wrote Yoda's line as "We must search for another." Lucas changed it to "No, there is another."

Not only because of the whole incipient lost-sister plotline, but also because GL felt that, given Luke's status as the hero, the audience otherwise probably wouldn't think Luke was really in danger during the climactic duel.

The fact is that the pause between "finest" and "families" is there because the Sultan was not happy with his chest of gold items and moved on to see the car, so disappointing Donovan who had expected a much different reaction (what was at stake there is that the Sultan could have not agreed to let them pass into his territory).
However it does leave space for doubt. Furthermore, his lips are unfortunately covered in that moment, due to the Sultan passing in front of him. So, who knows.

About the Hindemburg...

In the comments to this article: http://www.thingsinmovies.com/the-hindenburg-in-indiana-jones-and-the-last-crusade/ one stated

I saw this when it first came out and remember expecting it to be the Hindenburg and then being surprised that it wasn’t. Though I bet it was supposed to be at one point in the creative process.

The ominous music when the Zeppelin is shown can be easily explained by the fact that people associate that type of transportation with disaster, regardless of the specific model of blimp.

EDIT: I've asked these question on an Indiana Jones forum and the ones that do have memories of those moments from 1989 did say that they clearly remember these elements not being there, no "jews" line, no "Hindenburg" name. If it can be of any further evidence, the Zeppelin model used for the film still exists and it has no more details than the ones we see in the film, no Hindenburg stencil.
I think the rumor of an alternate Last Crusade can be easily classified as a legend.

The Zeppelin model not having the Hindenburg name isn't decisive proof. Very likely such a close-up shot of the name would've been filmed with a larger partial model, to avoid having to zoom in way too closely on the much smaller full-length Zeppelin model used for optical mattes of the ship flying.

The film in question is Flesh Gordon, a 1974 porn parody of the 30s Flash Gordon serials.

At one point, there's a spaceship crash which "Flesh" Gordon just barely walks away from. The special effects used in this scene are quite uncannily close to the the cutscene in Jedi Knight where Kyle Katarn crashes the Moldy Crow after escaping from Jerec's doomed cargo ship.

(Insert your own joke about the relationship between Star Wars and Flesh Gordon here.)

In the film as it currently stands, there's a definite unnatural-sounding pause in Donovan's line, right where the word "Jewish" would've been: "...the finest [blank] families in all of Germany." So the scene almost certainly was shot with Julian Glover saying it as originally scripted.

Personally, I'm much more curious about the claim on IMDB that in the theatrical cut of LC, a close-up of the Zeppelin revealed it was actually the Hindenburg.

If that's true, it was evidently removed due to the obvious anachronism involved -- the film is set in 1938, but the real Hindenburg had been destroyed the previous year.

As with the "finest Jewish families" line, I'm inclined to believe this, largely because in the current cut, when Indy and Henry board the Zeppelin, there's a strikingly ominous music cue that has very little relation to what's happening on-screen.

That's why I sometimes wish Lucas had stuck with his original idea to make all lightsabers white (or red, if you're going by the original draft). It's no secret that I love lightsaber colour diversity, but I'd prefer one-colour uniformity over the cliched nonsense established in the PT.

I like your thinking. But to my mind, even worse is the missed opportunity of not giving all the Jedi blue lightsabers in the PT. That way, Luke's green saber in ROTJ would have been symbolic of his independence of mind - instead of just "oh, I had a blue saber before, I think I'll get a green one this time."

Meh. Aside from his stupid name...I have nothing against Cad Bane....

What else could you possibly need?  "Cad Bane"?  Are you serious?   That can't really be a character name.

Do they have a "Jerk Awful" yet?

How about a "Meany Monsterman"?

http://youtu.be/ABcXyZn9xjg?t=15m51s

For my money "Cad Bane" is a much better name by miles than "Savage Opress."

Seriously, that's like somebody paid a 5-year-old to come up with a new SW character, and he said "he's Darth Maul's twin brother, and his name is Savage Opress!"

Worst part: They couldn't even spell "oppress" right. ;P

Yeah, that "'80s materialism" thing has come up before, and there's plenty of movies where it's true, but I think it's been played up too much here. They live in the same house in the same neighborhood. The tennis rackets just means they play tennis together and are still active. Shit, the truck is a Toyota not a Porsche or something.

Yeah.

I mean, has Glover even seen the beginning of the film in the last 30 years? Marty's home and family at the start of the film appear to be just barely over the poverty line. It's hardly "80s materialism" to want to have a sound roof over your head and enough money to put food on the table.

Hopefully now that John Boyega is the male lead of Ep7, Star Wars casting agents will at last get bold enough to let more than one person of color be visible on-screen per movie.

Personally, I'm still holding out for Asian actors to show up in the live-action GFFA. After all, GL did want to get Toshiro Mifune as Ben Kenobi..
