Ok, stupid but genuine question, in the outdoor Tatooine shots in IV, for some reason the lower right panel on R2’s back is painted uniformly grey. Any point? Production goof? It seems intentional and I don’t think that body was re-purposed at any time to be another droid so what gives? It goes away for pretty much every indoor shot and Mos Eisley, so maybe my sleep-deprived brain is going crazy…

It may be a production goof, since the Tatooine bits were shot before the rest of the film.

That’s nothing. The Blade Runner set has like 6 versions of the movie.

Five versions of Blade Runner have been publicly released on DVD, HD DVD and Blu-Ray

The US Theatrical Cut
The International Theatrical Cut
The Directors Cut
The Final Cut
The Work Print

Plus Version 6 - the deleted scenes that are so extensive they form an entire alternate cut of the film when put back-to-back.

THAT version hasn’t been officially released though. That’s the Comic-Con version, right?

Nah, it’s on the Blu-Ray. Just watch the entire set of deleted scenes via “Play All”. Voila, instant sixth cut of Blade Runner. 😃

Aside from the story-breaking (il)logic of Anakin’s saber being red, I prefer the color contrast of two blue lightsabers against a fiery red backdrop.

Besides which, having both sabers be the same color is an interesting metatextual comment on the duel between these former friends. Much more so than most of the dialogue, in fact.
