ADigitalMan's Guide to MPEG2/AC3 Editing
Time
1) If you do anything to the audio (add a second track, crossfade, mess with volume) it will render down to 2.0. This is where I recommend using Vegas (by way of Hypercube Transcoder) to re-create the audio back in 5.1 using the 2.0 mixdown as a guide, then muted out of the final output stage. This will also take care of those pops you here when you make a clean cut sometimes.

2) If you doubleclick on the bar above the preview window it will fill it to the full screen.

I can go on and on with this, the FBI is over there, have no doubt about it. I have a buddy who is now FBI who used to work with me. He can't tell me everything he does, but he is assigned to Iraq.

Indeed, they are there, thank you for backing up the premise. And there needs to be more of them there. And we have these teams working on p2p. A little reprioritization is all that's needed.

I posted this at the Superman board where somebody has been purporting that Vader clearly had the upper hand when he defeated Obi-Wan on the Death Star. It deserves to be reposted here, in this thread.

Hey, maybe Lucas can insert some overly-expository dialog into the next edition to clear this up.

Vader: "Your powers are weak, old man. Clearly your skills have diminished since the time when we dueled on the volcanic planet of Mustafar and I made the mistake of letting you get the high ground when I otherwise showed the superior saber technique."

Obi-Wan: "Only in your mind, my very mechanical apprentice. You can't win, young Padawan, who once was called Anakin but now clearly has no good left and therefore can simply be called Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine, as I have learned the ability to defy oblivion, as was once accomplished by a Shaman of the Whills. It is a state acquired through compassion, not greed. To commune with the force and become one with it while retaining my consciousness was taught to me by Qui-Gon since I last saw you. You will see."

Vader: "You should not have come back. My Sith training has allowed me to enhance my point of view that all Jedi are evil. By channeling the dark side through my mechanical appendages, I can cut you down faster than you can defend your position. I can tell by your slow moves that a man of your age needs the dark side to remain quick. Just like Dooku, I mean Tyrannus, proved to us on the bridge of the Invisible Hand back when we rescued Palpatine from the clutches of the cyborg General Grievous. Clearly the dark side gave him the upper hand on the Invisible Hand -- hey I made a funny. And if you will allow me to give a syllogism, Dooku, I mean Tyrannus at his most powerful, was able to render you unconscious; I was able to kill Dooku; ergo I will be able to kill you easily because the dark side has made me stronger while your fighting skills have deteriorated in your solitude.

Obi-Wan: You have been watching Young Indiana Jones, now available on DVD in stores everywhere and from your favorite online retailer from Lucasfilm, Ltd. haven't you?

Vader: "You underestimate my pow-errrrr."

Lucas: "Cut. Faster. More intense!!!"

Vader: "Youunderestimatemypowerrrrr!"

That kind of fantastic Lucas dialog will clear this up once and for all.

These hotties that show up at conventions ... how 'come they don't hang out on the boards?

They've gotta be doing it either because (A) they're paid or (B) they're looking for publicity. Whether it's here, TF.N or even StarWars.com the boards are a digital sausage-hang, yet these hotties are ALWAYS at the conventions. Methinks something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

Did you even read the links you provided? Only ONE, the second ONE, mentions ONE FBI agent becoming a member of that underground network.
Either you didn't read, or you're myopically trying to apply a very narrow definition to the discussion.

And you've still failed to address the other points. Such as this retarded statement:
And FYI, the FBI would not be involved in catching bin Laden. That goes to the CIA.

My nominee for stupidest ... statement ... ever.

Quite simply, you are disagreeing with me because I raised the point that Bin Laden should be a higher priority than P2P downloaders. And you'll type incessantly to prove otherwise because this came from me and not just anybody. Methinks ye doth protest too much. You have such a hard-on for my posts that I think you secretly have a crush on me. It's like you're trying to dip my proverbial pigtails into the inkwell. Sorry to let you down in a public place like this, but I just don't dig on guys. But if you keep looking then one day you'll meet a really nice fellow who will let you be the alpha male and make your life complete.

Gee, lordjedi is arguing with me again. What a fucking surprise. Seriously, it's one thing to hate my ass openly, it's another thing to argue against everything I say regardless of any basis in fact. It only goes to strengthen my arguments overall when you chime in. Okay, school's in, kiddies:

1) Read up on the Piracy Deterrence and Education Act of 2003, the Direct Connect Sting and Operation D-Elite. Then get back to me on how the FBI is not doing any of the P2P surfing themselves. Warning ... the latter has ACTUAL STAR WARS CONTENT for all you Elitist Star Wars Fanboy Dipshites [sic].

2) Unless you think he's hanging out in Dearborn, MI, please explain to all of us why Bin Laden remains on the FBI's most wanted list if they're not actually looking for him. You know, it's not just the CIA's job; the FBI does operate internationally to catch criminals who have acted on domestic soil. And Bin Laden indeed has indeed perpetrated criminal actions on our soil (please argue against me on that). The FBI is integral to the War on Terror abroad. But don't take it from me, take it from Dubya hisownself.

So I obstinately stick by my guns (just like anybody who still supports Bush) and I reiterate that the FBI needs to focus more of its energy on capturing Bin Laden and not so much on shutting down P2P networks. And for the record, I don't use P2P networks. I merely have a sense of priority.

Young Indiana Jones Chronicles DVDs

Getting eight feature-length telefilms with roughly two hours of bonus material for each one ... that's like $12.50 per episode at retail. But if that's still too expensive:

1) Like Ronnie Mervis the diamond importer says, "Nobody pays retail, why should you." Amazon's opening week on Vol. 1 was 48% off the MSRP.

2) If that's still too much, rent it. How many times will you really watch them anyway? Enough to justify the cost of purchasing the set? Or will you fare better by renting? Especially from flat-rate Netflix?

The Dark Knight (Batman Begins Returns Again)

But she didn't descend into mindless screaming like Oscar Winner Kim Basinger, come on like a drunken prom date like Oscar Winner Nicole Kidman or chew all the scenery as a villainess like Oscar Nominee Uma Thurman. And we won't even touch Oscar Winner/Razzie Winner Halle Berry's non-Batman Batman film. No, Katie Holmes didn't deserve the Razzie nomination for her performance. Not by a long shot.

I will say that of all of Batman's leading ladies, the only one who truly knocked it out of the park was Michelle Pfeiffer. Her whole story line and her performance was perfect. It's a damn shame she had to share the screen with that wretched interpretation of the Penguin.

There is a fan-edit of Batman Forever called the "Red Book Edition" that is really good. It makes the film much more in line with the Burtonverse.

Still, I've abandoned that film series. Between Batman's homicidal approach, Vicky Vale's screaming, and The Penguin's ... whatever ... I was never head-over-heels for it. I respect the films for what they are, but BB hit every note perfectly. I didn't even mind Katie Holmes. It was the first thing I'd bothered to see her in and had blinders on to her whole Tom Cruise soap opera until afterward, so I was offered a wee bit of objectivity as far as she was concerned.

Though I still think Rachel McAdams would have been the best person for the role the first time and for the recast.
