Your Toshe matte painting is too shiny if you allow me... A little as a metal facility.

I would say the whole image is too clean too by the way, as all the imagery of the new Star Wars stuff !... So don' t worry, it wouldn't bother the eye anyway. ;)

And what about making Darth Vader stutter ? (that should be easy to make).

... So why don' t you, all of you, organize a  big team work starting here from this thread? The work would be "easier", shorter, and most challenging because it would ask you to be able to catch who is able to do what (skills), to make choices (perhaps some will be willing to do something but are not skilled enough), and to trust each others.

Then in the same you'll have given this discussion its reason to exist.

I can make matte-paintings in the old ways with oils (Ady have seen some so he would tell you), and I can draw anything...

Sharing ideas is a good way to assist people in the doing, there have been some really good concepts kicked around on the various ideas threads, some of which have been picked up and others may be picked up in the future.

 

 

 

 Ok but now that one of the best rendition of ANH has been done, why not proposing something else, different. I mean Ady's work is not what I would call a fan-edit: it's a true restauration (with very little bits of fan edits).

"So what else can be done?" - Ok. And forget Ady's work: it's done, and it's been done in respect to everyone's expectations. Proof is here.

I think this topic is crazy. :)

We all want the original versions of these films available to the highest possible standard to purchase (it's why most of us joined up here in the first place).

But Lucas himself opened the door when he himself started making changes.

As a version of the SE (not Star Wars 1977) ANH:R is the best incarnation I've seen so far but it's not the last word on reworking the SE idea into something that corrects errors, adds a few flourishes and fits the tone of the story better.

It's an ideas thread for people who want to do that, therefore it's only a crazy topic if you don't want to do that, in which case why post on thread?

There are threads already for discussing the pros and cons of the SE.

My view is that if a SE exists already we might as well try and make it better than the two Lucas put out, that does undermine the call for getting the original versions released one jot.

Only Ady made himself several versions to make everyone agree, and happy with it. And we still find this topic making people talk about what more can be done: THAT is what I call crazy.

Note that what is not explained in the OT makes it far above the Prequels (as all that is explained in it kills it all the time). So my thoughts are that all the stuff ADY have set right is done wisely... Very equilibrated. And the question of the thread itself shows a little incomprehension of such an effort. I think.

ADY said (a little above): Sometime less is more. And that's it !

So... Here's the stupid question again:
