JediTray's VINYL preservation project (CANCELLED)

How's the dB's now?

That is a hard guess. But I think it may be too loud cause if you keep this volume for the whole recording, there is some chances for "The forest Battle" track will be overpeaked.

I'd fix the volume for the "Forest Battle" wich is the louder and best sounding cue on this whole recording definitely, and make the rest of the recording follow.

Another solution that may work fine however may be to keep the current volume for the whole recording, and treat the "forest battle" aside, lowering it just a bit.

...

Edit: The thing is the quality of the RSO RotJ mixes are unequal. I noticed that the best they are, the louder they sound... And "the Forest Battle" has the ultimate mixing quality on this Jedi recording, and so the louder sound.

Oh, I'll think twice before trying it then. The last time I tried to read a 24bit file, my computer crashed... And unfortunately I won't set up my computer for 24-bit audio (or I would have done it long before, as you can imagine!).

Edit: Weird ! It works... Yes, it really sounds superior to the previous sample, and brighter.

The sample sounds great. I even compared to an improved version of the RSO CD (wich can sound very great through remastering) and your sample sounds even better.

WHOOPS!

Looks like it will have to be 16 bit, folks.  The files get bottlenecked from 24 to 16 in some of the software I use.

It is still fantastic.

Well, as far as they comes from 24-bit transfers, this is already a great guaranty.

I haven't been able to see the black and white music dvd yet, but I would really like to.

Allow me to say it's the key piece of the whole restoration project, what I really didn't think it would turn into. I've recently had the chance to rediscover it to a friend's who has a better equipment that mine for video (+audio from video) and next to the sound I know I can be proud of, I was amazed wich D_J's picture again... And it marries so well with the overall analog feel of the sound.

While I'm typing this I've just updated the definitive covers in the tracklists posts. Here they are again:
