Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)

DM, Does it mean Audacity makes changes (or even sucks) then ?

D_J. I would hate to have to fit with the SE cuts to reedit the isolated score... Is your SE "de-SEed"? From this point of view, the more "authentic", the best. I had in the idea we could ask Adywan about his reconstruction but I'd totally understand it may be upseting to you as far as it would not involve your own material... In that case, just forget these lines.

Haha ! Me neither ! I guess foobar 2000 or Db poweramp can convert this file. Besides, when you say PCM, is it wav. or something else ? (I hear wav when I read PCM).

But if it's more simple to upload the lossless file, go for it.

I just watched your sample and it's great. The lack of precision for synchronization may come from the beginning of Ice Planet wich should be merged to the Main Title a little more, as I observed on the Alt version from the film. I have to say I'd wish the image could be more neat for a B&W, version... I mean a "restored" version with the beatiful fine contrasts as on Ady's reconstruction... Do you have such a thing ? (I know, perhaps should I check the OP now...)

No, but you have a ringtone...

And here is a picture of the first difference

...

It looks like Audacity. Perhaps a chance for me to have an answer to this question:

I compared once with the EAC (Exact Audio Copy) tool "Compare Wav" one one of my tracks I imported and exported with Audacity without any processing. The result of the comparison said: "different samples". So I conclude Audacity resamples the audio no matter what.

Then: do you know what's happening, and can it be called a corruption ?

...

PS to D_J:

I'll download the audio mix you will choose to re-edit the music, no matter if I make a new topic or not for the moment. The complete score editing will be a piece of cake. I'm finally interested also to re-edit the film cut version for an accurrate isolated score (though I won't care in the resulting DVD for this one).

For what is to send it back to you, it will make a too huge upload for me, then we would go for the physical option. ;)

Btw, I'm currently searching a rip of the Imperial March from the SE menu DVD - if it's as I remember the alt one with big symbal crashes... If any of you can make it ;)

That's weird. I'd expect it from RS (especially now), but not MU.

There's no "static" on the internet my friend. All is always in motion. What seems normal for you and free today will cost you a lot in the future ! ... And I don't think it's pessimistic from me. haha ! ;)

There can't be any confusion. I said it: the entire AE would be replaced. I'd recommand you keep version 1 though for you get a precise idea of the improvements / differences.

This won't happen before a time however for the reasons I said, and also because having released 4 versions (OE/AE) in a very tight space of time, I think it is better to let you appreciate its evolution.

I had your PM Billyboy.

A re-upload is too much effort for me and my equipment, man (you have no idea!). And I upload  only once, that 's my rule, hoping someone who consider himself lucky enough to have grabbed it might help you.

That said I believe the OT ST Salvage is up on the Alt. Binaries SW- a foreign place to me... Then you may find the RotJ set you're looking for.

Someone can confirm or help ?...

I think that soundtrack has already gone beyond all expectations anyway, even mine. ;)

But if you had the chance to grab the last samples I took back, I say: you have to replace "Deal With The Dark Lord". The pitch/speed correction on it was above 1%, wich is relatively important, the balance is ok and the EQs are good enough, better than on the actual AE (+ the sample is not re or rather say desynchronized, what was a mistake). Just compare yourself...

Be sure I hear you JediTray.

... Now that I saw the AE has leaked around here and there, I'm certainly gonna watch after more feedbacks before taking any decision...

That said, I will sure use the new improved material especially for D_J's DVD. ;)

Fair enough ?

(edit) Also thing is the whole AE would be to reupload as you probably noticed. In the other hand, the IE I'm assembling by now proposes a great alternate set... The AE wouldn' t be as obsolete as you say besides, notably because you have all the tracks without crossfading. You can't have the best of two worlds ! You would just consider it like the "sister" fixed edition of the AE and build a bigger box for yourself... And don't worry, I forbid myself thinking about a UE ! lol

If you are up to it ABC, I will make a black & white version of ESB.

Perhaps a nice way to present the upgraded AE: "The Imperial Edition" gathering both the DVD and the CDs set. What best than a black and white version for this ! ;)

PS: "Ultimate Sith Edition" as you proposed sounds too commercial to me, like the prequels are.

Sorry then. I must have checked it too fast. However it would have been the least to point this place at OT.Com instead of copying the whole detail elsewhere. I saw many asked what was that and where it came from + they won't never step here to share their feelings... Though, it's true a bunch of members here around won't never tell me since they hate me for having played with their fear not to release this... I must be asking too much from them... Ironical!

That was only one point in my post though... Please read it again ;) and learn the difference between "to have", and "to be".

I kind of liked the idea of having a nice music score only track sync'd to a black & white version of ESB myself, encode a very high bit rate ac3 or a PCM or both.

Ah, good to hear you about this black & white version idea !

Now I must say that on such a version I'd be more for the complete score. I think it would be the best way to enjoy this black & white experience.

For what is about to make a 2nd version with the exact film score then, why not. That begins to make a bunch of work though...

I'll follow the debate and clear my mind about this before posting a new topic ;)
