That trailer was great! Everything about this show so far looks phenomenal. Really looking forward to the launch of Disney+. There’s some things about Disney as a company that o strongly dislike, but they really do know how to deliver some great products when it suits them.

The trailer looks really good! I love the original direction it seems to be taking. Unfortunately, I will not be using Disney Plus. But I will try to stay unspoiled, on the off chance it releases elsewhere.

I don’t really understand the reluctance. If you just don’t want to have to subscribe to another service you can always wait until the whole season’s out and just do a month. I really hope this gets released on home video but there’s really no guarantee of that these days.

Given their increasingly monopolized position, the way they’re putting classic Fox films into “the vault” and out of the repertory theaters, not to mention the state of copyright thanks to their lobbying, I’m reticent to give them money for anything.

Listen, I understand what you’re getting at. But if you’re someone who wants to watch this show, this is the way to do it. A boycott isn’t going to accomplish anything, just prevent you from enjoying something you might like.

Yup, if you think a corporation is doing bad things, they’ll definitely change if you give them your money.

Nearly all corporations are doing bad things. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do about that, never see a movie again? Never buy an iPhone or shop at Walmart? Disney doesn’t give a shit.

For the record, I probably won’t be subscribing anyway (I’ll most likely be borrowing someone’s password). Happy?

I mean, a little bit, sure. Sorry, I should not have been so sarcastic.

So has anyone speculated on who/what he has been hired to retrieve for a bounty?
My prediction is Luke Skywalker.

Was increasingly excited for this series in a hopeful way but hearing it will explore the origins of the First Order really killed most of that excitement and I’m just clinging to hope that maybe it’s just one episode that delves into it with only the very occasional random reference here and there. If it’s part of the central story arc then this series is in the bin for me before it even started…

I do agree though, THIS looks and feels like OT Star Wars so I am very hopeful I can watch it without being constantly reminded of the ST.

No, The Mandalorian isn’t a Boba Fett show. GOOD!’ - by HelloGreedo

HG made a couple of good points here; for many of the casual Star Wars fans (or sci-fi fan) they’ll probably tune in expecting the series to be about Bobba or the Fetts. It’ll be interesting to see how they take to new characters in a familiar timeline and setting…

Tighten Up and then turn it all the way up to 11!

That would be interesting, but judging from the dialogue from the Herzog scene that was shown as SW Celebration (and that has circulated around YT since), Luke would be too young to qualify as his target. In the scene the Mandalorian is given a tracking forb, whatever that is, and fragments of a “chain code” that Herzog’s character points out is “over 50 years old.” Since this series takes place 5 years after ROTJ then fifty years prior would be pre-TPM. Since the trailer showed what’s most likely a Clone Wars flashback, and Mandalorian culture is implied to be a part of the overall story, I’d guess it might have something to do about Mandalore. At least Luke wouldn’t make much sense. Time-frame-wise I guess other Jedi like Anakin or Obi-Wan could be relevant, but since they’re all dead that would’t make much sense either. Though I suppose some other Jedi could be part of the plot. Side note (for the sake of speculation), Herzog says that he want’s the target alive, but that “proof of termination” is acceptable for a lower fee (which consist of Mandalorian iron btw).

Given this series was conceived and written by Favreau I very much doubt the birth of the FO plays any big part. He’s all about the OT era. Mentions and minor threads tying to the FO I would peg as contributions by Dave to try to help tie things together.

Whoever said the show was about the origins of the First Order? I sincerely doubt that’d be the case.

Someone mentioned somewhere that the show would touch on the subject and the internet blew up about it.

Jedit: This looks to be the source of it: The Mandalorian to explore the origins of the First Order

Here’s the relevant quote from Dave as I suspected:

This doesn’t turn into a good guy universe because you blew up two Death Stars. You get that the Rebels won and they’re trying to establish a Republic, but there’s no way that could have set in for everybody all at once. You have in a Western where you’re out on the frontier and there might be Washington and they might have some marshals, but sometimes good luck finding one.

Also, what could happen in the 30 years between celebrating the defeat of the Empire and then the First Order? You come in on Episode VII, [the First Order are] not just starting out. They’re pretty far along, pretty well equipped. So somehow, things weren’t necessarily managed as well as they could have been if [the galaxy] ended up in hot water again like that.

So that quote got conflated into The Mandalorian is a First Order origin story.

It’s funny because if you read what he says he’s not at all saying it’ll touch on the subject besides in the most general, vaguest possible way. Essentially the galactic political situation just seems to be relevant insofar as to explain that it’s like the Wild West. Which is to be expected in a show about bounty hunters. I’d be surprised if it went beyond that (at least in the first season).

As long as it’s not a leak it belongs in this thread. The other thread will come to life once the show starts airing.

But what’s the difference? Looks just like him, talks just like him, acts just like him. Has the same job.
Would it really be that different if he also once captured a guy named Han?
Why not truly make him a new character? Why the familiar costume?
I’m looking forward to it, but not totally sold.

Interesting little visual tribute to what I believe was one of the very first SW images shown to the public.

Also, a closer look at the Ugnaught character voiced by Nick Nolte’s; https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Mando_03.jpg

That’s just judging based on all superficial aspects. This last trailer seems to hint heavily we’ll be exploring his relationship with his family and probably see what became of Mandalore.
