Who should the villain(s) of the sequel trilogy be? (if the sequel trilogy has villains) — Page 3

Hopefully not the ghost of Hayden as the villain.

But seriously i don't know.  What if Luke is the bad guy, but that would be totally unoriginal like Dark Empire.  And be too derivative of how Kasdan wanted Jedi to end.

Seriously watching Hamill cackle like Palpatine would be like a live action Joker.

Not something we want i would imagine though it might be entertaining for a second or two.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

I'd personally love to see Hamill give a live-action performance in his Joker voice ;-)

I'm not a fan of 'prequalism' but the LOST TWENTY was something that was never properly fleshed out in the prequals, maybe there are still a few floating around that aren't necessarily fallen Jedi, but they have conflicting ideas to Luke's . It's hard trying imagine a new Big Bad that could compete with Vader, even if the prequels destroyed his character

I don't want to see any attempt to outdo anything.

I'm not exactly fond of the Lost Twenty, mainly because I find the idea that only twenty Jedi would ever leave the Order due to a difference of opinion pretty stupid.

If we attempt to outdo ourselves we're just going to end up with something lamer.

How about Vader-Maul-Grevious hybrid clones with quadruple-bladed lightsabers in each hand ;-)

Exactly. Attempts to outdo things are the path to the lame side.

Thanks for proving my point.

In 1986 they attempted to extend the lifetime of the Kenner Star Wars line, and one of the concepts was literally two Star Destroyers smashed together. No kidding.

i'm not suggesting trying to outdo what has been done before, they will never come up with a villain as iconic as Vader, but it is a new Trilogy, they will need some form of conflict or new threat that is going to carry a trilogy. I really hope they don't make the mistake of having a new minor villain emerge with each successive film, the way we had Maul, Dooku and Grievous

Back in the 80's, I saw a huge triple hulled SD model at a county fair of all places, complete with a tiny Millennium Falcon fleeing in front of it. It was a work of art. I can't even imagine how many hours it took to create. Whoever built it should have been hired by ILM on the spot.

When you say triple-hulled, I think more horizontally converged. This was done vertically, and looked so dorky it was laughable.

I thought one of the points they were trying to make in the prequels was that a droid army was no match for sentient beings

i have a feeling this trilogy won't happen.

If it doesn't happen, several Disney executives will have their heads placed on the spires of Sleeping Beauty's castle. ;)

Why is that?

Anyway, TFN seems to want another black-cloaked, yellow-eyed, lightning-shooting villain. I had no idea that TFN is that bad.

Honestly, the harder they try, the less imposing the villain'll be.

I find Sauron in the 1978 version to be far more imposing than Sauron in the Peter Jackson version, and you know why?

I find Sauron's design over-the-top trying to be scary. What with the spikes all over his uniform, and the over-the-top death.

In the 1978 film, however, he's never seen, and carries more of a presence because of it.

That's why I think the Emperor works. Two films of buildup, and his design isn't too over-the-top (even if his voice is), but he's still imposing when he shocks Luke with lightning from his fingertips.

I kinda liked the concept myself, hokey though it is.

I would definitely prefer an Imperial villain over a Sith villain.

Well most of us don't want to see Sith after ROTJ. But there is no reason for me to hate a perfectly good concept implemented before ROTJ.

Well, alot of that comes from Alan Lee and John Howe's illustrations:

I don't want Jedi-hating villains. Palpatine was enough.

The Sith are the last thing I would call a "perfectly good concept". They're unexplained in the movies and totally undermine Palpatine.
