Three releases with the same covers - 2004, 2005, 2006!

Ach! Mein lebin! Vas is das?

Looks like we got the better deal.

EDIT: I also noticed how different Luke looks from the first to the third. In ANH he's so youthful and determined. And then by ROTJ he's war weary and burden ridden.

That might be the car accident he had?

Actually, despite the fact that it is on the ANH cover, that picture of Mark Hamill as Luke was taken after ANH and after his car accident.

Are you saying that you like these covers over the new ones? I think they are both kind of crappy.

Yeah, I noticed that too. That car accident never really did that much of an alteration on his face. It just seems that his nose was...changed some how. To this day I still can't figure out what exactly it was that changed. I just know it's different some how.

Those covers are still awful, and the photoshop job on Luke on the ROTJ cover is kind of creepy. They cut and pasted his head from another ROTJ still onto his body from yet another still. The head is out of proportion to his hands, and just doesn't look quite right on the body. The body is angled one way, while the head was obviously a full frontal still. The angles don't mesh. Any one of us could have put better covers together. LFL really makes no effort with these discs at all, do they? Hell, all the dvd releases have had appaling "artwork".

Ha! I never noticed the Luke thing. Creepy. I also like how none of the main characters have ever made it into the cover of ESB outside of the OT. SE, 2004 release? Nope. That's the good one, so Lucas is all like, "You wanna see the characters you love? Ha! Here, have some Lando and Boba Fett, bitch! No, Luke's not in this movie. Shut up."

Now that you mention that, the ANH cover has that same problem, only worse!

what a lazy job! "just patch 2DVD on the old cover"

these covers (US and 2004 set) have "photoshop for dummies" written all over them!
the covers for the 2000 VHS edition looks like Mona Lisa compared to that!

the thing that pisses me the most is the "special edition" patch, now the original cut is the special edition?
that's lame...

Actually, the ANH picture is taken from a real still, and that's the right head with the right body. However, it's still photoshopped: see that lightsaber he's holding? That's not the one from the original still. The original still had the lightsaber from the Holiday Special in it (for some odd reason), which is a totally different handle.

So they were worried about the continuity of Luke's lightsaber more than his face?

Oops... just noticed it's a *slightly* different still photo. But it's definitely from the same session... look closely at the Luke's hair and you'll see it.

Those covers are just the same as the ones in the box set here in the states. I actually like (and I know I'm in the minority here) the covers for the OOT release much better than those covers. They just seem to look better, though I'd rather have a different cover, like one with the original posters.

If they were to ever give the OOT its own release I'd use the face covers seen back in the early ninties. I think those look really cool.

I wasn't impressed with those. I found them to be bland. I'll take the September covers over the Faces set.

Suprisingly enough, the blandness of the faces set is what I liked about them. They were just simple, and made thier point. There wasn't a lot to look at on them besides the face and a small clip of the movie. The simplicity and blandness is what made them special.

WTF is going on with Alec Guinness's hair on the ANH cover of the French set??! Terrible picture, looks nothing like him!

Dear God these covers are rubbish, all you graphic designers who make covers for the Fan Pres/Edits should feel really good about your work, they're infinitely better than these "professional" official efforts.

Looks like the French are getting the same covers as us Americans. And I like the covers they are giving us. Okay, I would have prefered that they actually get the posters themselves instead of "real life" copies of the posters, but whatever. The only thing that I don't like is the ROTJ one. It seems a little empty. And they got the Leia picture wrong. The shot of her in the poster looks more like this:

The stance that they have here on the cover looks more like she is bored. I've never like that shot. It doesn't do her the justice she deserves. That slave girl costume was exotic.

Exotic... and slightly erotic! ^_~

But seriously, am I the only person who thinks that Mark Hamill doesn't really look like Mark Hamill at all on the new ESB cover?

To keep in tune with the poster that they copied from they should have gone with an image more like this:
