What is that…thing?
So, this is a thing…
What is that…thing?
“What if Anakin didn’t turn to the dark side?” is what that is. It’s a running theme in SW fan art, I’ve noticed.
Of course, that looks more like Kenny Rogers with John de Lancie’s lips than an older Anakin.
That’s supposed to be Anakin.
Oh my god I need to sit down, I laughed so hard I almost passed out.
^The Force of Strangers is strong with this one.
I just noticed what they did to Dustin…LMFAO
Very cool… except, haven’t they got Luke and Han round the wrong way? Luke rescued Han from being frozen in the Upside-Down and then from being thrown into the pit of the almighty Demogorgon… not the other way around!
VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.
…and my vibro-axe!

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.
Wow, very cool!

I love how the Imperial Shuttle actually has neon lights on the back of it.
Also, I wonder if the text on the speeder bike actually translates to anything…
A HI-RES LOOK AT THE USER INTERFACES OF ‘ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY’
Some of these are really awesome.
(I’m glad they’ve stuck with the retro designs and not tried to modernize it like other franchises has tried to do.)
Star Wars is Surrealism, not Science Fiction (essay)

Well, I was kind of thinking about how Star Trek jumps back and forth in terms of modernity. Stories that aren’t set apart more than a few years can have vastly different looking technology. And some times when they make prequel stories or go back in time they try to semi-upgrade the look of how things looked.
Aliens kind of also did this. Despite having prequels that take place only a few years prior to the originals the tech is suddenly much more modern looking.

Another way in which primitive displays is good for story is that it forces the creators to distill graphical ideas down to their most basic version. A problem with movies today (MCU) is that their super advanced displays can often confuse as much as explain.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I’m with you ZkinandBonez… RO definitely nailed the look of Star Wars. I much prefer that than the sleek, somehow more advanced tech from he prequels

I am gruntled by this.

See this stuff looks good. I will always give credit where credit is due.
The problem is that I don’t remember any of this in the movie. Maybe it was in there, maybe it wasn’t. Either way, the camera and editing never slowed down long enough to pay attention to these kinds of things.

I’m kinda glad that they didn’t emphasize all of the small details like this in the movie. It makes it seem more realistic, at least in my opinion. These sort of things should be stuff that you notice in the background, not something that’s thrown in your face. If you think about it, they pretty much did the same thing in the OT.

Ah, proof that RO was a rehash of the OT.

Yes, that was my point. You can notice it in the background while other more important stuff is going on in the foreground. However, when the direction and editing are so terrible, you don’t even have a chance to notice these things in the background. You don’t get the chance to notice them at all.
