Didn’t like the directing style of this episode. Apparently James Mangold was originally supposed to direct this one, but had to drop out at the last minute to focus on writing for Indiana Jones 5 (lol!). So Robert Rodriguez replaced him at the last minute, and it shows. Directing felt very haphazard. Writing was good tho! Still looking forward to the next episode.
James Mangold is writing Indiana Jones 5?? I like this news. Logan was great and he’s directed alot of decent to good movies. Could be an inspired choice.
As for this episode, I thought it was the best of the season so far but do still agree with some of the criticisms. It did look like a star wars fan film you see on youtube at times. I think this was because the setting was just so plain. The description I’ve seen that the show is turning into “Favreau and Filoni playing with star wars action figures” is the best description of the show as a whole I’ve seen so far, that’s exactly what this is. Boba doesn’t feel quite right to me either. Since when was he honourable? Since when was he so good at fighting? Even so, Seeing him in his suit after all these years is great, I loved it. Even if it is fan service. Also Slave 1 😃
But either way, I think we are finally moving forward with the plot and I found myself looking forward to the next episode for the first time (I love Bill Burr and Ming-Na Wen so that could be part of the reason). I nearly laughed at the empire’s baby shackles. They are both adorable and disturbing. Of course the empire have shackles for babies haha.
