The EWOK TRILOGY

There was discussion in another thread about possible configurations for the movies. There was the 6-film saga, the PT, the OT, or just SW. I propose another configuration: the Ewok trilogy!

1. Return of the Jedi
2. Caravan of Courage
3. Battle for Endor

Do the Ewok movies take plae after the fall of the Empire.

It's hard to nail down the precise timeframe the Ewok movies take place in. There was an article in the old fan club newsletter Bantha Tracks referencing a scene (apparently cut) where a young Ewok plays with a carved wooden Imperial Scout Walker. Wicket has learned to speak english (Galactic Standard?) in Battle for Endor, but there have been cop-out explanations to explain away the fact he doesn't speak it in Jedi.
On the other hand, if all the characters introduced in BFE laid low during the Imperial presence, why didn't Wilford Brimely's character try to contact the rebels or go looking for tech he could salvage when there would be tons of wrecked Imperial hardware lying about?
The fan film "The Invisible Enemy" would fit in nicely before Jedi.

Don't forget the animated Ewok show! Now THAT was TV!

I haven't seen the show or the movies since they were originally broadcast, but I loved them as a kid. "The Battle for Endor" shows up occasionally in the Wal-Mart bargin bin though, maybe I'll pick it up sometime.

If you loved them as a kid, don't watch them again!

^I guess if you're trying to watch them seriously that could be a problem. I always watch movies like this fully aware that what made me happy as a kid may seem full on retarded to me these days. I'm never disappointed watching something I liked when I was small. My roommate and I will probably end up laughing our asses off at some sick joke we make out of something in the movie.

Also, they come in a 2 pack at best buy. I never picked it up by I just may have been remotivated now.

I've noticed some battle scenes in BFE appear to be alternate/unused takes from the forest battle in Jedi.

I wonder if Jambe's aware of this.

Maybe the Holiday Special and the two Ewok films can count as episodes VII - IX.

Ah, how the mighty fell when we went from "May the Force Be With You" to "Stir, whip, stir, whip, beat, beat, beat, stir" to "Eatcha Mama."
I am fluent in over six million forms of procrastination.

You know what, I didn't know that! I haven't seen these since I was a kid. In fact I distinctly remember being taken to Bexley Heath Cinema (what a flea pit!) for a birthday suprise to see Caravan of Courage. Needless to say I was very dissappointed to see no Luke, no Han and no Leia!

I had better get a copy asap! Off to play.com I think.

And a BIG thanks for the heads up.

I beleive officially, they take place before Jedi. But as you said, putting them in before or after Jedi both create continuity problems, so you can put them were you wish.

You did get the outtake Ewok footage from Return Of The Ewok, didn't you?

There's some cut scene material in there.

Wow, £12.95 and half an hour spent spooling through to find only 5-8 seconds of ROTJ footage. Still if I want to be completist...

Which parts and shots? Are they noticeably shots of better quality or anything.

They are just a few cut aways really. In the battle sequence you can see a few of the archer Ewoks as well as the two Ewoks that are sat up on the trees ready to release the logs that hit the AT-ST from both sides. The quality chance is fairly noticeable. More details in 'Returning to Jedi'...
