The 2004 SE DVD covers are laughable!

Seriously, the 2004 DVD artwork on the covers makes the movie look like it's for toddlers. What is lucass thinking with all this stupid cover art on recent releases of the movies? The art looks so cheesy and stupid I'm embarrassed to own them. Lucas should be too. He should be ashamed of himself for letting such shitty art on the covers. Of course, shitty movies are inside those too. But putting this shame gay art on the 2006 DVDs is just criminal. He's insulting us and the movies. They deserve better treatment. If I buy these 06' DVDs (which I probably wont) I will just print my own covers I find on the web. The problem is I don't know if it's possible to pull the covers out and put different ones in DVD cases without ruining the plastic that encases them. I tried doing it with tweezers, but unless I worked really hard and stretched the plastic out I think it's impossible to get those damn covers out. Do any of you people have tips on how you're going to do this? I know a lot of you people plan on switching the covers. I know someone posted a website awhile ago on where I can find some good original DVD art covers. Could you guys link some websites on where I can find some original DVD art covers?

All you have to do to get the sleeves out of the plastic cases is open the case all the way so it lies flat. Then you can pull the sleeve out with your finger. You don't need tweezers- they come out very easily.

There are some "faces" DVD covers here, and there's probably more if you look in the SW Preservation forum.

Even more insulting is that the new covers are based on the movie posters from back when they came out. Seriously, they're like photoshopped versions of them.

Then they go and put the original posters on the back covers. Why didn't they just use the posters for the front (they are advertising this as the "original, unaltered trilogy", after all) and put some screenshots from the films on the back?
I have a bad feeling about this...

Holy Crap !!

I just tried mine, and they do come out!

Trouble is, I did it to the Bonus Material one at the same time I had the cover for the Empire Strikes Back one out, and now I have them mixed up I think.

I'm gonna stick them on EBay now, cause they aren't genuine now. And then I'm gonna call my lawyer.

What kinda clowns sell boxes that let you do that? Those bastards.

Actually I lied, I never did try to pull the covers out. I just imagined it is very difficult to do this in my mind even with tweezers. I know you won't beleive me but it's the truth.

I think the covers for the 2006 DVD releases are perfect.

Why? Look what's on the front: a modern, amateurishly Photoshopped mockery of the original trilogy posters, even tying in inappropriate elements of the prequels (Hayden Christensen's ROTS Vader).

That represents the 2004 SE in a nutshell.

Then, relegated to the back of the case (to denote their lack of importance), you have the original posters in all their glory.

That represents the treatment of the original unaltered trilogy in this set.

I couldn't imagine a more appropriate cover for the 2006 releases myself.

Good for you Sluggo, saying what's on your mind.

And the 2004 SE covers are laughable. The 2006 are much better, and the backs are fantastic. I just wish the fronts were a bit nicer.

I believe him. I know I couldn't remove a DVD cover from the case using only my mind. I'd love to see somebody who could.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.
