Nope. It's full screen. I watched it the other day.

Hasbro spared no expense to bring back the original for the shoot. "They wanted it to be as authentic and as close to the film as could be,"

Anyone else find this almost hilariously ironic?

It's amazing that Lucas didn't take advantage of this to shoot new scenes for the special editions! Or shoot the end of Episode III.

But wait-- wasn't he "planning" the prequels since the '70's?

This sounds really cool. I never heard of this, and I'm surprised it hasn't been talked about much since then.

Maybe Hasbro should've been involved with Eps. I-III.
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

I've hit a snag: Can't seem to find it! I'll keep looking, but if I can't turn it up, can someone else step up here?

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I might be able to do it, but I'll have to capture through my camcorder. Won't that cause some color shift?

Or would you prefer I lend you my tape?

There's a very slight red shift when capturing through a DV camcorder, but from a VHS source, it's not all that great of a problem.

Sure thing, DAYV.

And no, it's not widescreen. I haven't gotten home to rip it yet, I will this week.

I TRIED TO SEND YOU AN EMAIL, BUT IT CAME BACK AS UNDELIVERABLE.

Have you found it, Reverendbeastly? If not, that's bad :/. But I guess a capture with cam will do.

Thanks anyway .

Yeah, I seem to have every other board game I had during my childhood, including two copies of the Goosebumps game, the Pokemon board game and the Wicket the Ewok Adventure Game, but no freakin Escape from the Death Star!

Looks like I'm out on this one, guys. Sorry about that.

Somewhat off topic, for which i apologise, but does anyone here have the Episode I monopoly board game. I have a copy unopened from my collecting days, and two copies of the OT monopoly (one open, one sealed). But Im considering opening the Ep I board, cause a friend of mine had it and we played on it once, the set up, with the way the property cards slide in the board and where the houses/hotels go is so incredibly nice...one of the nicests designs of a monopoly board ive ever seen (actually its probably the nicests).

I guess I can take the lead on this. Hopefully in two weeks I'll have it done.

Anybody have any serious objections to me using Pinnacle Studio to encode? I'll probably have to use a constant bitrate of 4000 kb/sec.

The video doesn't really lend itself to chapter breaks. Not sure what I'll do about that yet.

I want to step in here and express my support for the project. This is something I've wanted to do as well for years, but recently had forgotten about it. I do actually have the game and the tape, and I will dig it out when I get back home to my stuff in storage.

I have the ability to capture this as well if it doesn't pan out otherwise.

BTW, they did do a lot as far as making the scenes, sets, and lighting look very authentic in that boardgame video. But one thing they didn't get right (and this always bugs me, they did it in the Special Edition of ANH as well) was the stormtroopers: they have the later version of the armor and helmet rather than the style actually used in ANH. You can tell easily by the wider black 'mouth' area on the helmets.

Forget the Stormtroopers, what about Vader himself? He's in his ESB/RotJ/RotS suit; not the ANH one that's so different from the rest. Of course, this continuity error (in the films at least) could have been solved by using an ANH-style costume for his scenes in RotS. Anyway, I look forward to the availability of this. Maybe it should be a special feature on a future fan DVD set.

The events of the game actually take place before Return of the Jedi. So the later style armor for Vader and the Stormtroopers is technically correct.

FYI, the story is that the second Death Star is being moved from where it was originally constructed to the Endor system. On route, a rebel supply base is discovered on a planet named (I think) Drenda IV. Rebel spies (the players) manage to sneak aboard the Death Star to try and destroy it with explosives before it reaches Drenda IV.

Thanks for the info, Erik. I knew nothing about the game, I just assumed it was set on the first Death Star since that article said they brought back the cinematographer from the original film. The pictures on the set do indeed look like the Death Star 2, but like Vader and the Stormtroopers, I thought they had just decided to use the most recent versions of everything.

Erik, I believe you're right... that does make sense then that the stormtroopers are different from ANH. Whether that was done on purpose, or just an accidental keeping of continuity, it sounds like it is as it should be.

The game is out of continuity anyways so even if it was set during AnH it'd make no sense to complain about this .

I'm actually seriously thinking of picking this up. I won't be capturing it in any useful way though, so if someone wants to cap it properly I won't bid. Just let me know by posting here in the next 24 hours.

Since that auction is in the UK, it's most likely a PAL tape. Is the new Vader footage shot on film or video?

Where were you in '77?

Just to let everyone know that I've bid on this item with then intention of getting it captured for dvd

Daveytod, do you actually want the rest of it? Can I buy it from you once you've done the transfer?

The reason I ask is that some friends and I played that stupid "AtmosFear" game a couple of weeks ago while really, really drunk, and it was a riot.

@daveytod: That'd be great. And even better if it was PAL .
