I wouldn't be yelling my head off if the OT wasn't such a cultural monolith like the Sistine Chapel, the Mona Lisa, or Mount Rushmore.
I really hope you're just a troll account, jesus.

Unfortunately, he's the real deal.

Are you kidding? It's always a selling point for any movie! Look how great Robocop 4k looks compared with the older releases.
Yeah, I'm sure my Grandma is chomping at the bit for it.
You missed the point he was making. Most people don't even know what 4k is yet. They certainly aren't going to buy something just because it is 4k, at least not until it is more commonplace.

I'm sick of being pegged a troll over and over again on this site. George Lucas/ Disney have missed the point on how important the Star Wars trilogy is to our present culture. There should be only one version of this trilogy, and it is not the SE 3.0; since we live in the worst of all worlds, it has been slated for the incinerator and we have to stop it. Imagine if the French government decided to bulldoze the Louvre, or the Chinese decide to turn the Great Wall into a strip mall, or Paul McCartney decided to rerecord all the Beatles albums with Justin Beiber's vocals; this is the kind of cultural erasure we are up against. And I wouldn't be this passionate if those first three films were as of the same quality as the Police Academy or Friday the 13th films.

It might help if you
1) stopped saying the same thing over and over
2) had a sense of perspective
This is not limited to the SW forums, you do the same things in other threads in off-topic, including the ridiculous threads you make yourself...

1. Does anyone understand what an Internet troll is?
2. I have been repetitive only because our situation as Star Wars fans has not changed since this website was launched. The closest we ever got to an official release of the originals was the GOUT.
3. My perspective is that most film companies (eg AFI, Disney,LOC) have acted as if the pre-1997 trilogy has never existed, and are bending over backwards to please George Lucas.
4. Lucas's involvement in the OT is tenuous at best, and the real people who made those films great have been literally purged from the official story.
5. I feel like the last person alive who cares about saving the pre-97 trilogy. So to everyone else my rants are seen as nothing more than ridiculous, because no one else seems to care.
I think people probably don't care for it because you're not participating in actual conversation or anything productive. You're only venting repeatedly about the same things in an overly emotional way. Though I guess if there's a place online to do so, it's here. Even so, you're preaching to the choir. The fact that you've managed to bother even the most concentrated group of people online with similar thoughts is somewhat telling.
Everyone knows what a troll is. They're not always straight forward to diagnose, though. Sometimes (and not necessarily referring to you), people's online behavior seems so strange that you can't fathom that someone would actually write in such a way other than for the purpose of winding people up.

...I care...
But in all seriousness, I highly doubt that Disney would've bought the company without securing the rights to all versions of the films from George, in as much as Lucasfilm (not Fox) legally owns them. Now we can see they've worked out a deal with Fox to distribute the films digitally. It's the SE once again, yes, but if they were going to start selling the OOT there's no good reason they wouldn't wait until the next physical release to include it as a selling point.
Besides, as someone so eloquently phrased it in this thread, releasing a remastered OOT for the very first time in the form of a compressed download file would be the 2015 equivalent of the GOUT.
They're continuing the tradition with this digital release of using bonus materials as a selling point, continuing to keep the OOT in their back pocket. I'm now starting to doubt we'll see another release this year, if only because they'd be hurting their own sales of the just-released digital version. They may also be waiting to see how UHD ("4K") blu-ray shakes out before doing another physical release.

Yes, exactly. Something so sought after as the OOT is not going to debut on HULU Plus.
Generalfrevious: I think you also lose people with your insistence that Lucas is some kind of dictator who sends his SS officers to go and track down the remaining prints of the OT and then destroy them in the most over-the-top way possible. Most of us are pretty disgusted with him too, but you're trying to convince us all that he is Chairman Mao or something. Robert A. Harris himself has said that there is no reason to fear for the OOT materials themselves, and has said that a restoration wouldn't be terribly difficult.
Although this disturbing footage was discovered a couple of years ago...

Han might shoot first in the digital version:

That is just very interesting... I wonder if there will be anymore?
George Lucus Strikes Back?

Everyone in the preservation threads would like a word with you...
Making one change now kind of breaks with the "seven year itch" of successive SE revisions.
Where were you in '77?
IDK, this honestly worries me a bit if it's true because it could mean that Disney will just remove some of the more "annoying" changes and never actually release the OOT because it would be "good enough" for most fans to just have han shoot first. Sure it means that they don't respect George's SE, but if they're going to change the SE to please people aggravated by the changes then why would they go to that trouble if they were just going to release the OOT anyway?
IDK, as Faraci mentions in the article, he's been wrong before.

I hope they get rid of the "NOOOO" scene from ROTJ.
And to be fair, I wasent really complaining about the trilogy being destroyed by George Lucas between late 2012 to 2014.
UPDATE: Well gang, I got spoofed again. It looks like Greedo still shoots first in A New Hope, as confirmed by Garth Franklin of Dark Horizons who lives in Australia and thus in tomorrow. This is a bummer. I had a source confirm to me that there are tweaks, but I guess this isn't one of them! My apologies for any undue hope I caused.
John Williams score to Return of the Jedi Remastered/Remixed:
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/JOHN-WILLIAMS-Star-Wars-Episode-VI-Return-of-the-Jedi-Remastered-Edition/topic/14606/page/1/
Hasn't the Han/Greedo shootout been messed with on each new release post-97 (both '04 and '11)?
Maybe they finally said "screw it, just put it back to the way it originally was."
EDIT: Wow, nevermind. Oh, well. Like moviefreakedmind said, that might've been a bad thing anyway (changing the more "annoying" things but still leaving the SE as the only version out there). I'm not surprised to hear there've been tweaks made for this release, though. I guess we'll start hearing what they are over the next couple days.
I'm actually glad to hear that it hasn't changed. Like I said, them removing things from the SE to try and compromise for a cheap middle-ground version to satisfy both sides might mean that we would never get a true OOT.

Silly rumors aren't just for Episode 7. ;)
I am reading over at the Home Theater Forum that the theatrical cut of the Pod Race is included as a separate extra with TPM.

Any details about the presentation of the deleted scenes?
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

I was about to retract my question once I found out they were talking about the description, not the product itself.

What are these other tweaks?
Faraci's sources are quite good these days, so this is pretty good news, since it means the 2011 version isn't locked in forever.
