Those look like photo books. How strange.

This would be great if it focused on the original versions of the original trilogy and not the revisionist history cgi crap.

Still looks like a nicely crafted set. But who wants six books of screen grabs of ludicrous cgi.

Now if this was a film cel collection book featuring cells from the original three films, and featured notes by George Lucas before he was suduced by the dark side of cgi i just might buy the set. LOL

I still find it hard to believe that limited set collectors items like this which are extremely expensive can be produced but the original unaltered star wars trilogy that started the legend remains buried, sigh.

That's why I loved the 70mm film cels from Willitts Designs- they're probably my favorite SW collectibles ever, except maybe for the original theatrical posters.

The SE and Prequel content has kept me from buying a lot of SW items in recent years.  I passed on the SW "Vault" book because of it, and quite a few other items.

Um, check out the quote from George Lucas on this page:

Hmm... interesting.  If there are cool new NON-CGI photos from the OT, or shots from the cut scenes, I'm interested.

based on the pictures it looks to just be stills/frames from the films.  I'd be willing to bet that that's all it is & that the stills from the OT are from the 2004 versions.  I like how they're marketing it as "George's personal choices" of pictures.  Yeah right!  there's no way he sat down & personally picked out every frame presented in those books.

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.

Yeah, judging by the prices of some of the company's other books, it will be at least $300.

The thing is, if it didn't have any PT content or SE shots (which we know it will since Georgie boy hand-picked the photos), I might consider buying it, or asking for it as a Birthday or Christmas present. But, there's no way I'm going to spend that much money for a set of books 1/3 of which will contain pictures of Hayden Christiansen (and there will probably be pics of him as 'Anakin-ghost' in the ROTJ book too- YUCK!)

Too bad. :-(

no problem..sound reasonable..

especially since its so limited...

i'm getting it for sure..

i don't mind the prequels..

but of course the original trilogy shots will be more exciting to me..

that's fine, i'll just have save up a little longer,

unlike a lot of other collectibles that i could not have cared about, this one really is limited, signed, and comes in a

very cool looking case.......i only hope i can get one reserved, as these might

sell out possibly, with such a limited number (and i see the price going up

after that).........awesome looking at those still pictures though.............

maybe they will release a 'lower priced' consumer version....one

can only hope..

FOUR thousands dollars though???? I can understand $400. I can even understand $800. But $4000??? Even if there is some moron rich enough to spend that, its absolutely disgusting that LFL is charging this much, considering these cost about $100 to make. Trust me, there will be plenty available, and they WILL go down in price because theres probably only a few people on the planet, let alone 1500, stupid enough to drop that much cash on a book of video-stills.

Finally, I can use this quote and it be slightly on topic:

"FOUR THOUSAND?!  I could almost buy my own ship for that!"

Seriously, that's a lot of money.

I paid $300 for a deluxe, limited-edition copy of Mick Rock's book of Queen photographs (it originally sold for $600 I think) and it was signed by Mick Rock, Roger Taylor and Brian May. It also came with a bonus 8"x10" photo of Freddie Mercury signed by Mick Rock. I sold it to someone in Italy for $900.

Four THOUSAND dollars for a bunch of photos of Hayden Christiansen?!

Oh yeah, these things will be FLYING off the shelves at that price! ROFLMAO!!!!!!! :-D

Wow, think of all the things you could do with $4,000... or you could buy this pile of crap.

ok,

maybe i should clarify something, (not that it seems like anyone here will care)..

why was this item even mentioned here? is there really no interest in it from anyone?

US$4000/1400 frames is about  $2.85 per frame.............. how much would it cost to get

those frames, enlarge them, print them etc???????????????

are we going to get this chance again? yeah, just like how i missed out on all the action

figures when they first came out, or the 'collectors cards', thank God, i kept some of those...

isn't this basically  an investment? (don't get me wrong, i would love to get them, scan them,

reprint them etc for ANYONE here that wants to see them, print them out, or doing something else with them, just let me know when i get it, we'll work something out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...........................)

if the coloring is from the original, wouldn't be an awesome color reference????????????

if it cost's too much, can't a bunch of you get together and pool your resources?????

maybe now that i'm older, i can appreciate the work, dedication, and effort that goes into it,

and having something signed by Lucas is a special bonus for me also....................

i'm amazed the hatred , hostility and negativity (ha!@) that i see here, so are you saying

that 'star wars' which is included in here, along with other favorites (not mine) such as

'empire strikes back' and 'return of the jedi'...........deserve to be namecalled, cast down,

and ostracized?????????????????????????? that's a very strange attitude to me , coming

from people that are here because/despite Lucas creating it ? ? ? ? ? ? ? !?????!?!?!??!?

why does everything that is released or put out put under such scrutiny, and skepticism?

can't ANYONE see ANYTHING good coming out of this at ALL, for the star wars community???????

(i know i can see it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and i would LOVE to share it with anyone that wants to see it, or even cares)

i not sure why someone who is proud of their work, and wants it displayed in this fashion,

is being chastised by the fans who somewhere, at somepoint in time, thought he actually

did something right for once..................................................................................

sometimes, even being a 'star wars fan' makes me sad, even when among the friends i see here...........

Out of morbid curiosity, maybe? ;-)

The reason that the Willitts Designs' 70mm film cels were so interesting to me in the '90s were because they were pieces of actual film prints and you could scan them, print them, etc. and there were no altered SE scenes in them to make my stomach turn. They were $25 a piece retail ( and usually far less on eBay) and you could pick whatever images you wanted and you weren't forced to buy a whole set with Hayden Christiansen in them.

These aren't pieces of film, they're overpriced picture books, and I can think of a lot of better ways to "invest" $4,000 !!!!! Frankly, they smack more of George Lucas' greed and arrogance than of pride in his work.

George Lucas will finally do "something right" again when he ceases his pathological mission to bury the OOT.

As far as the color reference goes (I assume you're referring to the OT?) the OT books would be made from Special Edition prints, so I doubt if the color would be useful for any OOT preservations since I assume they don't represent the original theatrical colors.

They're probably essentially charging you for Lucas's signature, since he RARELY signs anything. There's no way that book is worth more than a few hundred.

-1, make no mistake, other items that have been produced by Sideshow and Gentle Giant have been just as limited.  The only difference here is that this thing is signed by Lucas.  It should really show you what he thinks of just his signature, that he's willing to increase the price of the book 10 fold just because he signed them.
