Hey Ady, I know you're probably already done with the Tauntauns but I just had to share this neat video I just found:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6lQ5GG6bnI

Your work on the Tauntauns looks great, are you doing it manually?

To add to this, the same guy did some motion blur work on some EMPIRE clips too (it's at the 1 minute mark).

The movement looks incredible with this motion blur technique this guy has developed. It's unfortunate that the picture looks awful! The difference between the Gwanji 1966 clip and the motion blurred version is very noticable. It also looks a little sped up in places which is a little off-putting. If he could do it without damaging the colors or general picture quality I'd see everyone wanting that applied to most old stop-motion work!

Shameless self promotion...

I would like to see him do some work on Jason and the Argonauts. I watched 2 days ago and thought that Talos needed some motion blur.

Of course not as much as these guys

That film looked really good for it's age, these pictures do not represent the quality of what I saw on television.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Does anyone know how the motion blur technique is done?

I think Ady and this guy should have a talk…

And that Luke's rescue clip is awesome, the colors are so right now, it's a huge improvement.

Is anyone feeling the second part (beginning at Obi's apparition) could be darker, as night is meant to be falling?

I was just looking at the nice disc art for ANH:R (red wire-frame Death Star model) and although this is very early, what sort of images might work for the ESB:R disc? Like the one for ANH:R, it should reflect a change, I guess. Maybe one of those split-screen blue/green Yoda images from the petition banners? Haha.

I've been thinking about this as well. I think the disc art should be something round. The Death Star on the ANH:R disc is perfect, because it complements the round shape of the disc while showing something iconic from ANH.

But I can't think of anything round that is iconic or instantly recognizeable from ESB. The top of Cloud City, maybe? Hoth? Dagobah? None of these really work as well as the Death Star did.

If someone were to do a bird's-eye view of Cloud City, that would look really cool. Have some clouds floating by. :D

That would be my top choice.

Mabey even Vaders mask with Luke's head in it.  That might be weird though :)  It's not round, but could work.

If nothing good comes up, I'd just go with a couple of At-Ats, it's not like we need to start a tradition of round things to go on disc art.

Or just like the CD of the OST, with the symbol of the Empire?

That would actually work quite well, it being all about the Empire striking back and all.

And Return Of The Jedi could have the Rebel Rogue Squadron symbol on it.

Ady,

I tried to PM this message to you, but apparently your mailbox is full.  In any case, please see below--

Update:

I stopped by a little store called Mail by the Mall, where they specialize in shipping items.  Unfortunately, they do not ship internationally.  The rate they charge for wrapping the monitor up well enough to survive the wear and tear of the international shipping process was reasonable, however.  They will have the piece ready to go by Monday, Dec 21st.

My wife and I are heading to Vegas tomorrow morning for a short holiday.  We will be back Tuesday evening.  My plan is to pick up the monitor on Wednesday, Dec 23rd, and to stop by the USPS to get it sent to you.

And yes, I have confirmed that the USPS is the cheapest way.  However, I do not yet know for sure how long it will take to arrive to your address-- figure, at least a couple of weeks shipping time.  As soon as I know more, so will you.

Does all of this fit into your plans so far?

I think this idea would be great for the ESB:R DVD. BTW, I also loved the DVD artwork for ANH:R. P.S. Your signature is AWESOME Angel.

I was wondering about one tiny little thing: when the wampa attacks the tauntaun the camera pans up to give the impression that the tauntaun fall = old school technique (you can see that on the background sky). Does anyone know if Adywan is fixing this so that the background is still? This should be one of the easiest fixes.

It should be...but is it....who knows......I said the same thing about the grain of sand in SW:R, but that simple thing never got fixed...and I doubt the snowflake will either...Adymans good, but not that good!!!

Wow...not the nicest thing to come home to. She was my age, too. Cardiac arrest.

From yahoo: The LAPD confirmed to Access on Sunday that they have opened an investigation into the star's death. LA County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told Access at a press conference on Sunday evening that her death appeared to be from natural causes.

Natural causes? Scary...

They always start by calling it natural causes until they get into the investigation.  Wait and see.
