Ady, in the Luke/Vader ESB duel, after Luke sticks the smoking tube in Vader's face, he gets his lightsaber back and swings it at Vader, who blocks it. However, Luke and Vader's sabers should be rearranged, as Luke's blade should be on the RIGHT, and Vader's on the LEFT. As it is now, it looks like Luke is blocking Vader, instead of vice-versa. Can this be fixed?

There's actually no problem with that shot. Look at it in slow motion and you see that  Luke swings his saber then the first few frames he is still swinging it and Vader blocks it. Vaders is on the left and Lukes on the right.

Is it just me, or does Luke's saber in the 2nd frame look too short, too skinny, and too bent?

No need to get bent out of shape, Luke!

Looks to me like every frame Ady posted has something wrong with it's lightsaber rotoscoping (no new ESBR screens indeed!).  Something we'll only see if we go through it frame by frame, but you know some of us will.

They're taken from my colour corrected AVCHD so still no new ESB:R shots :)

So far I've only finished the first lightsaber duel scene as far as rotoscoping the sabers goes.

Oh and to answer a previous question you asked 005 ( i think it was in the EPIV thread but couldn't find it today) the trade federation droids will talk in my PT:R trilogy and they won't be shut down in ROTS

So, Ady, what are you working on now? Models, or computer work?

Darth Solo said:And howz the back fairing up?

Well i'm spending most of the daytime at physio so i'm concentrating more on the video work ATM. I've got one more week of daily physio then just once a week with some home exercises so i can start back on the models again. The back isn't as bad but its still is still causing a lot of pain and problems. i think its more that the painkillers are starting to work a little bit now more than the problem itself is easing

I've just completed the garbage scene and i'm working on the shot that 005 posted as they approach cloud city. I want to not to look like a reused shot , plus the ring of lights around the top section of Cloud city in that shot aren't in every other shot we see of it.

Woah. This is interesting news! You probably won't divulge, but why won't they shut down? They are not in the OT:R....right?

I am excited to hear the progress. Those painkillers can make you feel half way near mental retardation in some cases. But seeing as you are in immense pain they should do what they are meant to do.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Hey Ady I was thinking...maybe you could cheat a little when it comes to the models? They might be good for any long distance shots anyway. =P

They look fantastic. Well hell he did use cutouts photos for ANH:R so why the hell not?

I just watched the early ESB:R trailer on the ANH:R DVD 9, and is it me, or does the Emperor's voice sound slightly slower and deeper than it was in the original film? I really like the slower and deeper version, but it appears to sound the same as the original voice on the new ESB:R trailer. Am I hearing things, or was this a scrapped idea?

I read people talking about a matte. What is a matte?

Well, if you want to get really technical about it, the matte is the black area that blocks out some other part of the frame, keeping that area of the film unexposed so that you can then put something else in there on the next exposure.  So a matte painting is the painted image that goes in the matte area.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

That's quite true, although coloquially people just refer to matte paintings as mattes.

He may do that, he did it with the Ben/Vader fight in Star Wars. There's nothing wrong with the duels as such, just that the prequels had much better choreography and they make them look a little pedestrian.

I disagree. Aside from a few shots in Duel of the Fates, the PT lightsabre duels look contrived, rehearsed, and choreographed. Of course, that's because the duels in all of the Star Wars movies are in fact contrived, rehearsed, and choreographed, but the OT duels (aside from ANH, of course) don't look that way. In Luke's duels with Vader, it really looks like they're each trying to skewer one another. In the PT duels, it just looks like each contender is trying to swing his sabre around fancily and make contact with the other's blade.

Sure, the PT battles look pretty. So do acrobat routines, parades, and rock concert choreography, but there's no real danger to be found. I prefer my lightsabre duels to be a little more realistic and spontaneous, myself. The PT duels are many things to many people, but they certainly aren't spontaneous, or believable.

To sum it up.
