Ok, sorry for the triple post, I didn't mean to annoy.

Ady is seriously gonna need a break after all this. Vaderois' speeder engine flaps mock-up looks really cool. :)

Btw, I was thinking - can Vader's hologram do with a tiny bit of work (the one where he appears before General Veers during the Hoth ground assault)? Maybe it can be sharper; with Vader's helmet looking better, and the hologram can flicker a bit.

I like the idea of seeing the flaps open on the snowspeeders in the cockpit shots. not sure if i would be able to do it or not but it looks like i need to build something else now. :)

Another 3 months delaying it!

But i don't care how long this takes me to do. If an idea comes up that i think would benefit the edit then i will try to do it, even if it delays the release by an extra year or so. The last thing i want to do is rush the edit just to get it out there and look back thinking "god i really wish i had done that" and not be happy with the finished product.

doubleofive said:

Ady, don't be tempted by the Snowspeeder flaps! You've got enough on your plate already!

And good luck on the canyon. Are you going by the one already in the movie, or designing your own (as far as one can design a rock)?

But i really do like this idea and i think it will really add to the edit.

The canyon is not going to look the same as the original. The first shot as the falcon flies into the canyon looks really fake as it stands. But it is going to match the rock formations we see in the craters so everything matches up.

You could wish "I'd done that." for an eternity though, something will always come up. You always add on stuff later anyway. I think I had better leave this forum for a while (to vbangle's and some others delights), perhaps even a year, it's making me nuts. It will be done when it's done doesn't fly, we've only got so many years to live. That's why I sometimes hate the criticism some filmakers get, they actually have deadlines not indefinite time periods. Call me whatever you want, impatient, bratty, prick, whatever variant insulting synonym you can think of. I'm trying not to be a prick but it's hard to hit a moving target. It's line seeing the finish line up a head with joy, then someone moves it out further again, and again, and again.

So much for a Christmas 09 release, or even release for ESB's 30th Ann. next year. If it's going to take forever we should at least get more trailers, those who don't want to be spoiled don't have to watch them, no one is forcing them. I am willing to donate more if we can get some of that stuff. Willing to donate quite a bit more actually. I want to support this project being that ANH:R is the only version of ANH I watch now. It's beyond terrific.

Thanks for proving me right about you. You're a real friend. Someone I can count on I'm sure.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

I'm pretty sure this is being fixed.

I'm really glad that Ady is going the non-CG way. It'll really make this edit that much more professional and will really assimilate it into the look and feel of the original ESB.

Can't wait for the Behind the Scenes clips! Oh, and the May 2010 [tentative] deadline isn't so bad.

Ady, I've got a question for you:

I know you're never returning to ANH:R, but if you were to (re)make this fanedit now, after gaining the experience you've gotten after finishing ANH:R and working on ESB:R, would you do anything differently (in terms of the Revisited changes)?

yeh, thats being fixed

I will never be returning to any of the revisited edits once they are finished. There is a high possibility that once all 6 movies are finished i will never watch the Star Wars saga movies ever again. The only thing i would change in ANH:R is the torture droid needle. it really didn't turn out the way i wanted it to. Apart from that i'm happy with what i was able to do

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm only going to watch only the Revisited versions from now on as well :)

Just curious, but how did you intend for the needle to look?

Adywan, Sorry to ask this way too early, But what do you plan to do with the rest of the saga Mainly the prequels to make Darth Vaders line in ESB about being Luke's father more of a suprise? I hate the fact that George Lucas completely forgot about the OT when making the PT. Why did he have to spoon feed us?

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

It's always been a given, IMO, that the films are still intended to be watched 4,5,6,1,2,3. Therefore the fact that the prequels make the connection obvious is of little consequence. It's a 'backstory' trilogy, not a 'beginning of the story' trilogy.

Thanks Ady :)

You did a remarkable job with ANH:R btw, I even thought the electric needle was brilliant.

I actually happen to like the torture droid needle change like you said, makes it look more like it belongs in the star wars world. The syringe looked to earth like with the measuring device visible. I also assume that you would change the stripes on the wings of red 5 to 5 stripes in place where it is visable that there are just 2.

Hey everyone, I know that there is not a person here that intends to come off in a "what's in it for me" manner, but please be mindful when making your comments, requests, etc. that this is still an fan-edit, the emphasis being put on the "fan" part.  Adywan is essentially willing this into existence through no means other than his own determination, and I'm sure that is an exhausting experience.

I suffer from chronic migraines that often come about when I've worked myself too hard physically, and every time I think about the amount of sweat Adywan must put himself through to get this done I'm reminded of the very real physical pain that I sometimes put myself through when I have my mind set on something.  . . . and that has actually gotten me sent to the hospital multiple times.

The point I'm trying to make is, let's not make Adywan feel like he has to do so much extra work that he actually ends up working himself to death.  While that may sound a bit dramatic, I couldn't be more serious when I say it.  If Adywan feels that he needs to extend a deadline in order to get everything right, then so be it.  I'd rather have the edit later than expected than not have the edit at all because it was too draining of a task for the man.

Adywan, sorry to go on like that, I admit I'm projecting a bit, but ever since your talk about being ill from working on the models (I don't remember if that's exactly what the problem was) I have been slightly worried that you were making yourself sick by putting more  work in than you could take on a daily basis.

I agree 100% with Rhikter. Adywan has been very generous by not only allowing us to provide input into his project, but also by keeping us constantly up-to-date on his progress, even including trailers and screenshots. How many fanedits do that? Not too many. Many fanedits just "show up" when they're done. This has been a true labor of love for Ady, and I think some people here have forgotten that he is not a studio with an official release date, he is 1 man, spending the better part of each day contributing to this project. If he decides to make a change that could push the date back farther, then so be it. I am very anxious to see the final product, as we all are, I'm sure. But I'd much rather see him take the time he needs, and do it right. And he does have a life, also. It is quite common for those fanedits that do have an announced release schedule to be delayed. I've seen it happen several times. That's just how these things go.

Also, I'm glad that Adywan is holding back on the clips now, because I would rather just be surprised when it is done. Reading and contributing in the forum is fine, but I want something to be saved for when it is done. I came into the ANH:R project late in the game, but long enought to be witness to the great flipper debate, and when I saw the film, I was floored at the accomplishment. I saw very little footage beforehand, and I enjoyed it that much better upon first viewing. I think if people want to donate, that's great. I would if I wasn't flat-out poor these days. But to expect something in return just isn't right in my opinion. After all, we will all be rewarded in the end, right?

Anyways, that's my 2 cents for the night. Sorry to ramble on.

Sounds like he meant that yes. I can imagine why too. Thousands of hours spent staring at these movies, going over the same footage time and time again....probably enough to make Adywan sick to his stomach....I'd probably feel the same way too after years of nothing but Star Wars films...

I actually really liked the torture droid needle. I disagree with other people's comments about it looking like a "mini lightsaber". It just looks like it's electrically charged to me.  I think it works well.

Oh, I misunderstood. I thought you were never going to watch the originals/SE DVDs ever again.

You mean after putting so much work into these edits, you won't even enjoy the end products?

Editors too. I get sick of watching projects I put together, even if I have a strong interest in them to begin with.

Back on topic: I remember this being mentioned, but I don't remember if Ady confirmed or denied using the idea, but what are the chances of using the ESB DVD menu shot of the Falcon approaching Cloud City? In the menu version the camera pans to follow the Falcon, while in the actual movie it cuts from one angle to the other without panning. I like the menu version a bit better, and its a nice looking shot too, if it could be usable.

Then you'll be glad to know that Adywan has indeed incorporated that 'continuous' shot of the Falcon, and it looks terrific.

Good call on the 'snowspeeder flaps' back there Marlonius, and a neat mock-up too vaderios.  Glad that Adywan is going to take the time to add that idea to some of the cockpit shots, to tie-in with the miniature work.
