Expect nothing and you'll eventually be pleasantly surprised.
IIRC, when ANH:R came out in 2008, we were told to expect ESB:R in 2010 and the following films about one every two or three years. I'm wondering, what is the expected release schedule now? Is seven years per film the new normal?
I don't mean to sound ungrateful, I'm just wondering what to expect.
Time is running out for the Rebels. Antilles upcourt to Skywalker. He’s being paced by Darth Va— the bone-jarring pick by Solo! He came out of nowhere! Skywalker’s open from way outside, he launches at the buzzer... Good! It’s good! The Rebels win on a sensational buzzer beater by Luke Skywalker! Let’s take another look at that last shot. He just does get it off in time. Wow, what a shot. That’s why they call him Luke Legend.
That may be the most exciting battle I have ever been privileged to broadcast. Certainly the most dramatic finish. We’ll get you an update on the Artoo Detoo injury situation in just a moment. Right now let’s go courtside where SuperShadow is waiting with Chewbacca.

Can I assume you're back to work on ESB:R? If so, great news! I hope the other VFX gig was an awesome experience for you.
So much anticipation to finally watch your version of ESB at some point in the near future that I think I'll pass on watching the clip on Xmas and be much more surprised when you release your edit.
Only back working on it in my spare time as i'm still working on the VFX gig.
Glad to hear you have work :)
BTW, check yr mail ;^)

Well I'm sure there will be no release dates for the subsequent releases in the Revisited Saga.

Distracting your mind from VFX work by doing some ESB:R in your free time...Dude, you are so awesome! :D
Ref: AT Foot
Looks good I cannot remember but have you added black smoke to this shot that is not in the original if so good job too. Something to look out for audio wise is why do we only hear the AT-AT foot steps when luke looks at the AT-AT :)
At foot?
Hell yes! Darth Solo returns from his dark side at last.
Ah, the increased size of the AT-AT's foot is a huge improvement! The background looks better too. Comparison
Looking forward to seeing the whole segment in motion by Christmas :)
Nice to see Jaitea's preparatory work reached a conclusion. I guess that another benefit of 720p is being able to still scale up elements like that without losing clarity (it doesn't look like Ady built a full size foot and dropped it on a car for verisimilitude).

Well unfortunately i couldn't seem to get hold of Jaitea so i had to do the shot myself from scratch. Turns out it wasn't as hard to do as i first though and only took me a few hours. That's the thing with doing stuff like this. Shots you think are going to be pretty hard to do , turn out to be the simple ones. While the ones that look like they would be an easy fix, end up being a nightmare. You can just never tell until you start them.
And 720p really does give me a lot of wiggle room with shots, especially when i get around to doing the prequels.
I guess another benefit is you have the possibility of reframing elements so they could be smaller in frame as well which might hide some of the 'plastic fantastic' ugliness of the PT shots and the rougher aspects of some the ROTJ shots.

Oh I have to ask...which?
I'm surprised that no one has complained about the new AT-AT foot shot being bluer than the bluray...
It looks great by the way! This was something I was really hoping to see.
You know Ady, you could probably write a book on "How to use your computer to create and edit films" and sell it on amazon. I'd know I would buy it.

I'd love to see a screenshot of Ady's timeline sequence in Adobe/Vegas for ESB:R, I bet it's a beast!
I am really busy with work at the moment so I don't have time to make a detailed post about this.
But I have got home from being away today and I have watched most of the battle of Hoth specifically focused on listening out for the bass sounds of the AT-AT footsteps.
There are many shots throughout the sequence where the Bass sounds of the foot stomp and even the mechanical sound of the AT-AT are missing.
Aside from perhaps beefing the sound up a bit (Godzilla Style) I was a bit surprised to notice that a around 5 shots have no AT-AT stomp and/or movement sounds or at least I think it is around that number. Some are present and quiet whilst some are totally missing. Actually there is quite a few more I think)
I never really focused on it before but since such a big deal is made out of the rumbling thunder of the huge mechanical monsters of war from the out set of the battle I was a bit shocked that I have noticed this only today after posting here for so long.
I hope you will fix this one up on the Christmas clip which I am really looking forward to but I also understand the audio could perhaps be temp or it's something you would not want to do even.
i thought I would point it out anyway as I thought it was important enough to do so in case it could perhaps slip under the radar in such a busy sequence as this. This was observing the SE Mix I will check the theatrical in a bit and update if I get the time. No change from Theatrical mix as far as I can tell.

As far as I've ever heard, all audio on these clips is temp. Ady doesn't do the audio until the visuals are finished.
"Suggestions now closed" must mean something other than what I thought.
I could have sworn it said "**...except for Ronster's***"
;)
For all the loads of non-news posted here, how has this gone unnoticed?

(I have not listened yet so I don't know how much ESB:R related stuff is in it, but still)
Same guys who interviewed Harmy, btw, which I enjoyed very much.
I listened to Ady's interview last night and enjoyed it immensely.
Great interview! Got me even more excited for ESB:R and all the wonderful things coming after it. Thanks for the link, Frink.
Is there anyway to get a download of the podcast? The player does just not want to work with me at all.
