Apparently it is extremely brutal.

Donnie Yen might be blind. A bit of a Rutgar Hauer type like in that “Blind Fury” B-Movie or should I say Zatōichi

It’s an old trope, there are two such characters in the Daredevil television adaptation alone.

Special edition.

I figured as much, but couldn’t find that specific scene when looking for the SE changes online.
I haven’t really seen the special editions myself, just know about most of the more infamous changes.
I see now this is one as well. dammit! what does george have against matte paintings! I guess he’s pretty much against everything in the OOT, ah well.
cheers and ty for the info! 😃

It is in Harmy’s comparison gallery.

To be honest, I think the perspective in the original shot is a bit off and watching the still images, it’s almost distracting, but in the flow of the movie, I barely notice it.

Ceci n’est pas une signature.

This is perhaps one of the best special edition changes.

@SilVerwook

You know we were talking about “launch tube” and the ships lifting off inside the hanger.

I just noticed here the second opening above the ground floor opening is probably where they fly out.

Well, if they hadn’t abandoned the old EU (which they hadn’t when they made Ep III), then the death star we see in Ep III is the prototype (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Death_Star_prototype), not the Ep IV Death Star. I would say that its appearance in Ep III after its creation in the EU makes the prototype version canon, though it isn’t specified. It just doesn’t make sense otherwise. Why take 20 years to build the first one and 4 to build the second. First spend time on the prototype, make sure the parts work, then build the first death star and maybe spend 5-10 years to build it. After 4 the Second Death Star was incomplete, not having shields and likely not propulsion, but an active reactor and super laser. Still a long way from completion.

SPOILER FOR THE ENDING OF THIS MOVIE

They get the plans

Not much new revelation but when working with the lossless trailer audio in Izotope RX to remove the voices, I found there to be com chatter/screams during the AT-AT shot. And the teaser does end with a full Vader breath, not just the exhale. Vader’s inhale is simply buried under Forest Whitaker’s lines.

I’m guessing that would confirm Vader to be in the film.

Mads Mikkelsen let it slip that he’s playing Jyn Erso’s father. https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/725701030810263552

I also got a chuckle out of the fact that he describes the movie as “the very first one, it’s before everything you’ve ever seen in the Star Wars universe.” Sounds like Mads is either unaware of or doesn’t acknowledge the PT, bless him.

He’s too precious for this world. Too pure.

A lot of new info, images, names, etc. have recently been reveal through a “visual story guide” type book for Rogue One.

http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2016/05/new-images-with-characters-vehicles-and-descriptions-from-rogue-one.html

Here are the character names extracted by JediBibliothek from the images:
Felicity Jones plays Jyn Erso, a gifted soldier and warrior.
Diego Luna plays Captain Cassian Andor, an officer in the Rebel Alliance
Jiang Wen plays Baze, a freelance assassin*
Alan Tudyk plays the CGI figure K-250, a Vollstreckerdroide and evidently an imperial model, but teams up with the rebels.
Riz Ahmed plays Bodhi, a rebel soldier.
Pao, an alien who is described as “fierce warrior”.
Donnie Yen plays Chirrut, a spiritual warrior.
Bistan, another alien who is described as “fierce warrior”.
Ben Mendelssohn as director Krennic, the military director of the Empire, to defend the Galactic Empire against the theft of Mission rebels.

There’s also a new Rebel starfighter introduced in the film, which is kind of surprising.
It’s apparently called a U-Wing;.

And there’s also a new imperial fighter called TIE-Striker;

Two of the members of the main cast will apparently be aliens;

And there’s a new type of storm trooper called “Death Troopers”;

*flashbacks to atrocious novel of same name*

Wow, I just googled that, and I had no idea that they actually made a SW novel with Zombies.

Love the new TIE, I almost wish they’d gone with something like that for TFA. I’m a little disappointed the Ben Mendelsohn character isn’t Isard, but I’m pleased that Diego Luna isn’t Biggs.

EDIT: Just got seriously thrown off by the writing until I remembered that dummy text is a thing.

Wow, Alan Tudyk’s character reminds me of that droid from ROTJ that talks down to R2.

I’ve said it before, but I’m mostly reminded of 8t88 from Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight.

So Diego Luna is playing Prince Caspian, and Donnie Yen’s character is a “spiritual warrior” whose name is Cheroot?

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
