Ugh, no. I remember thinking how great that was, watching it again like 10 years later, and hating it.

^yes.

Hmm… I haven’t seen it in about 15 years, so I could end up feeling that way too…
Lots of things were funny when I was a teen that aren’t at all now…
Agreed…I attempted a re-watch of Top Secret recently…could not complete the film…I can only shudder at how Police Academy would fare all these years later…

I would watch Top Secret again just for the giant phone gag if nothing else.

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.
Definitely Full Metal Jacket
I am not lost. I know exactly where I am, I am in some shitty fucking hell, which is exactly what I deserve. But you… YOU are lost. All my life I thought that I needed you, that I couldn’t survive without you, fuck! Fuck! It was the other fucking way around. It was the other way around.
To Live and Die in L.A. (1985)
Definitive film of that decade. Friedkin’s masterpiece.
Otherwise, Blade Runner is a must. Final Cut is easiest, but revisionist in certain ways. Best of all the is the 1992 director’s cut but it misses the bits of violence from the International version.
As mentioned by others and other random 80’s releases that spring to mind:
Road Warrior, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Empire of the Sun, 52 Pick Up, The Killer, A Better Tomorrow, Police Story I and II, Full Metal Jacket, Midnight Run, Prince of the City, Once Upon a Time in America, After Hours and other Scorsese entries…and many many more.
I always defend the 80’s Bond era under John Glen, as there’s always something of interest onscreen, but if you have never seen the Dalton entries do so immediately.

The one on Netflix is the theatrical, so it’ll probably be the least trouble to watch.

I should of added Willem DaFoe to my list of actors that I prefer. I’m definitely going to watch To Live and Die in LA.

There’s a sequel?
There’s a sequel?
There’s a RicOlie 2?
The Person in Question
I just thought Young Guns didn’t really leave room for a sequel. Ric Olie, on the other hand, did.

Not really.
Oh, c’mon. Ric’s totally the sort of person who’d name his son after himself.

They did not originally plan for a sequel, but it did happen…and it was every bit as good as the first…shall we watch it this weekend?

No!
I would recommend Michael Mann’s The Keep but it’s still difficult to get.
I have the VHS and I had it on laserdisk but I had to get rid of it when I had to rid of my player and discs.
Manhunter is worth a watch.
I think I’ve seen Manhunter quite a while ago, but I’ll look for it.
I know I’ve seen The Keep and it’s definitely worth watching again. Seems like you can watch it on Amazon Prime if you have that, for free. I had Amazon Prime Student for a while, but then cancelled when it wasn’t free any longer. Haha, I’m cheap.

Maybe they can’t actually. We don’t know that they’re not both deaf-mutes.
