Why did you go from thinking that TDK was the best movie ever to being the worst motion picture ever?

Were you referring to me?

Yea, hath God said?

I was being hipster. I’ve changed my mind after re-watching it last night. I now give it an 8. But I never referred to it as a bad film. I gave it 6.

That’s fair. I hear six and I just picture a 60%. A D- at best.

THAT IMPLIES A 1/10 AND A 5/10 ARE NO DIFFERENT

AN F IS AN F

I don’t feel that x/10 ratings can easily be ported over to the American grading system. To me, a 6/10 movie means it’s good but nothing too special. There is a difference between a 1/10 and a 5/10, whereas they would both be simple Fs if you went with grades.

True which is why I switched to letter grades because I could never shake the relation to percentage and most of my ratings fell within a smaller range.

Really, you can make 1/10 and 5/10 different with grades if you use F-. Of course, an F- would amount to the imagination of the reader what it specifically means, but it would get across that it’s the lower of the spectrum (like a 1-2/10).

I’m beyond tired of Forever getting trashed by everyone. There’s a hell of a lot of good stuff in there if you look past the 90’sisms and cheesier bits. And if the studio hadn’t mucked about in the editing room it would be held in much better esteem.

And after enduring B&R yet again…I think the consistent Schumacher bashing has got to stop. It’s the studio’s fault ultimately every time and the whole film was cursed from the get go. It was the guy’s job to do their bidding, even though he wanted to do a dark Batman film. They rushed it, they only cared about marketing, merchandising and building the franchise. To compound this the original super producers were long gone and Schumacher was left to try and just get the damn thing done on time and make it kid and toy friendly on every level. Sure it’s heinously bad but considering how the production went it starts to make sense.

Maybe it’s also finally listening to his commentary. He comes across as a truly nice guy and makes more references to the comics than Burton did.

It’s not just one guy’s fault…nine times out of ten there’s a hell of a lot of production troubles going on.

Anybody else ever think similarly? Or is it just me and doing way too much research into the Bat production histories?

I never blamed Schumacher for Batman and Robin’s failure.

I don’t think I’ve even ranked them before so here we go, this is actually really hard to do perfectly so I’m going to split this into two categories:

“Modernized Batman”

  1. The Dark Knight (9/10)
  2. Batman Begins (8/10)
  3. Batman V. Superman (7.5-10)
  4. The Dark Knight Rises (7.5/10)
  5. Batman '89 (7/10)

“Old-school Batman”

  1. Batman The Movie (8/10 just because of how ridiculously enteratining it is)
  2. Batman Returns (7.5/10)
  3. Batman Forever (6.5/10)
  4. Batman & Robin (1/10)

Funny story: Batman & Robin was my introduction to Batman as a kid. I was flipping through the TV channels and came across the movie at the scene where Batman and Robin are in that weird club and Batman pulls out the “Bat-Card”. Needless to say I didn’t watch it for that long because my dad couldn’t take how bad it was but it is weird that it’s the first time I was introduced to the character.

So, '89 is “modern,” but Returns is “old school”? Are we talking about the same Batman Returns (1992) here?

Why do you consider 89 bat man modern and bat man returns old school?

Iv heard so far that the comic con premiere of the killing joke was very controversial. What did you think of the sex scene that Iv heard so much about? Iv also heard many fans are angry that they made Batgirl such a prominent part of the story contrary to its comic book counterpart. I’ll be watching it on blu Ray. I’m just very curious of your opinion on these complaints? And was it received well?

I personally LOVED TDKR. So I’m very excited to watch “The Killing Joke”.
