I live in a gated community surrounded by strawberry fields. Some people just go straight by my house even though I have a pumpkin and decorations in the window. Don’t know if it’s because I’m on a corner or what. Turnout could be light or heavy depending on the year. Many years ago, we got so swamped we ran out of candy and my Mom started giving out my Dad’s mini microwave popcorn bags and the kids loved that. Not sure they even make snack size popcorn bags anymore?
For the first time since 2008, I tried getting back into the seasonal swing of things last year, but got home a bit late and only got two kids. Two houses down the street went all out with the haunted house bit and that was like a kid vacuum. Only saw one of those setting up again yesterday, so might explain why I saw more kids this year.
I think I was the only one giving out candy on my end of the street this year.
The idea of commuting to trick or treat in a strange neighborhood is weird to me. I know people have been doing it for years, but still weird.
