No more Star Wars from Master Replicas

I just found out that Master Replicas will no longer be producing Star Wars-related merchandise.
Does anyone here collect these?
I wonder what happened to their relationship with Lucasfilm?

No I don't collect these........ but I do know their license was not renewed some time this year as a new license wasn't able to be renegotiated as Lucasfilm's asking fee was too exorbitant.

I hope things like this continue to happen. I hope LFL puts the cost of their licenses so high that it outsizes the demand and they are left hanging. It seems to be happening with the new Clone Wars CG TV series, and it seems to be happening with Master Replicas. As far as I am concerned there is a disgustingly large quantity of SW products out there, we don't need anymore. If I ever feel the need for an MR prop replica or Stormtrooper helmet, ebay can help me out. Enough is enough. I really hope companies start giving LFL the message (and I hope it is a true message) that the demand just isn't there any more. And I hope they have to suck it up and give them a lower price, and I hope even the TF.n gushers start to get bored with this. If not, then those guys have the longest attention spans ever! Surely a time must come when even the gushers will get tired of buying the trilogy/ies on DVD again every single year.

I bought one of the first MR prop replicas, the original Han Solo blaster pistol. It was spendy ($450.00 before shipping), but I was extremely pleased with it. Amazingly enough, since I waited until the last minute to purchase it (they were almost sold out when I bought mine), I got #1500/1500... the very last one made. Pretty cool.

There was one more gun prop replica I was waiting for from them, and that was the Stormtrooper rifle. However, when it came out I took a good look at one... and I must say I was rather disappointed. It just didn't seem to be the same kind of quality that my pistol was and wasn't as accurate as I thought it should be. I think the trigger was non-functioning and the gun was missing the folding stock that I was hoping for. So I actually opted not to get one. They've made some other cool-looking props since, but it seems that their overall quality went downhill a bit (which I've heard from other people as well). The Stormtrooper helmet they produced was a joke as far as accuracy or even appearance goes. So maybe it is time they bowed out and somebody else took their place.

Still, I was a little sad to see their association come to an end. I remember how exciting it was when they first got the license.

The only item I have from Master Replicas is the ANH Luke Force FX lightsaber, which just arrived a few weeks ago (after an excruciating delay). I'm thrilled with it. I've been interested in many items over the years, but the prices have always been too high for me.

MR has had a good run with (mostly) good products, and lots of people are willing to pay the high prices. I'm sad to see that they lost the license. Lord knows what kind of crappy company will win the license next.

MR were taken over by Corgi earlier this year.I am of the opinion that the new company didnt want to renew the license as they realised that MR had pretty much run out of room for SW pieces to make. All the sabers had been made, with the possible exception of some of the anonymous Jedi council sabers, mostly all the blasters had been made, pretty much all the important helmets had been made (except for the TIE pilot and Royal guard) and other than some pieces like a Vader TIE advanced or a Star Destroyer pretty much all the studio scale models had been made.MR had simply gotten everything they could from Star Wars.I believe it was Corgi, rather than LFL,that drove the decision not to renew the license. Some of the MR stuff this year has been poor.I dont think the trooper lid was the disaster that has been made out.Sure it was idealised but they need to cater to a larger market and not just uber-accuracy colectors. However quality did noticeably slip with things like the paint job on the Fett blaster which was a total disgrace.
Personally I would have liked a Dooku FX as that would have been a really nice FX saber. The problem being now,of course,is that some new company will get the license and just start rehashing all the same old pieces that everyone already has.

I really enjoyed the Force FX sabers and I'm sorry to see them go. The rest of the stuff I could never afford, so I guess it matters little to me.

I had a feeling it was something like that.

I really kind of hate this as I am trying to collect all of the Master FX lightsabers, I've gone pretty a good way to complete the collection so far, but I am lacking the ESB Luke Saber, Obi Wan Saber, Luke ANH Saber, and the Vader ANH saber. I just ordered the Yoda saber, but I can't afford all the rest just yet dammit.

If you want some cool lightsaber replicas, check out www.parksabers.com . Someone at Celebration 2 had one from there, and it was absolutely awesome. Easily as good as any of the Master FX sabers.

Those are really cool. I really liked the 44 cal rep. blade runner gun. Though it was a little too shiny looking and the handel was a little too transparent. But the sabers looked perfect.

Those look nice. I had no idea there were so many different saber handles (mostly from the PT, I guess). I thought I'd be able to identify all of the OT sabers- but there are a few that look sort of similar (and of course the names don't give you any hints).

I got it!!! The solution to the world's energy crisis! All we have to do is figure out a way to tap into skyjedi's impressive amount of hate aimed at George Lucas.

Dude, I could totally power my house for the next 30 years with no problem, and that is with keeping the door open on the fridge, the air condition set on 50, all the doors and windows wide open, and the water heater set to third degree burns!

Where is that quote from? What is this in reference too? What did I miss?

EDIT:
Oh, never mind. That was from the stormtrooper gun. Got it now. That is funny. If the thing fired at all, accuratge or not I would order one in the next second.

There are many different Parks Sabers handles. There are not that many different OT lightsaber handles. DO NOT CONFUSE parksabers with LICENSED sabers. Parks Sabers are NOT licensed. There's a reason the saber handles look almost like what you'd find in the prequels and OT. They are his own designs. There's also a reason they're called Parks Sabers all over that site and not lightsabers. He can't use the term lightsabers.

Even at the conventions, when people tell you about their Parks Sabers, they'll use the term Parks Saber. They do that because Jeff Parks (as well as others) has continuously informed them that they are Parks Sabers, not Lightsabers.

Kind of sad that our world is so full of this crap, where you have to word yourself a certain way to avoid a group of lawyers showing up at your door. Especially something that is such a lexicon of our language now, regardless of who came up with and licensed it. Hell, even my Dad knows instantly what I mean when I say "lightsaber" and he is far from what I'd consider a Star Wars fan.
