I am pretty sure that we will see changes to all six movies. Since George Lucas now has time to step back to get the whole picture and adjust it were he sees fit. At one point in time though, he will have to nail it down and say "Ok, this is how I want the saga to be remembered."

In my opinion, he should publish a "StarWars construction kit" containing all source material for all the starwars films in a ready to be implemented state - so everyone can tinker around with it like he does - at least we'd all get a chance to have our way and build our favourite version of the films.

You know....when you really think about it, this whole changing business is really stupid and frankly, I feel a bit cheated. I pay money to see movies in the theater, but they're not the "finished" movie cuz the directors or whoever goes back and changes stuff. So you're basically not seeing a finished product.

Whatever happened to going to see a movie and that's the way the movie is forever. The OOT was like that, barring an addition to the opening scroll in SW. We've been enjoying those versions for years.....only to learn that they're not the finished product. This isn't limited to Lucas and his madness. It happens with a lot of movies. You see it in the theater and then when it gets to DVD, it's an "expanded" edition.

My personal opinion on it all is DVD is a new format that offers a better method for filmmakers to tell their stories. Why should I pay to see a movie in a theater when it isn't the version that will be available for the rest of eternity.

Seems to me that the day of the theater is over. Should just release stuff directly to DVD cuz we're getting ripped off in more ways than one at the theater. It's kind of funny cuz most filmmakers like Lucas love the theater and by doing all their stupid tinkering, they're killing the theater....at least to me cuz I'm very likely to NOT see a movie in the theater for just this reason. I'd rather see the "finished" product...even if I have to wait to see it on DVD.

Yeah, I agree. I'm so sick of these special "Unrated" DVDs or "Extended Editions." Just get it right the first time or live with the best job you could do! I mean, filmmakers are the only people who get to go back and correct "mistakes." You don't see athletes going, "Uh, sorry. I messed up on that last play. That wasn't my vision of how it was supposed to go. I really think the fans will enjoy it better if I get it right. Do you mind if I do it over again?" No! You get your shot. You do the best you can, and then you move on!

As long as bother versions are made available in high quality, I have no problem with multiple versions. It's nice to see the different ways that a work can be viewed. And yes, SW, I think that it is all but confirmed that Lucas will change both trilogies for the 30th anniversary archival editions. IF LFL were to go all out and make the 30th anniversary version what it SHOULD be and make multiple versions of the same films available IN HIGH QUALITY like the Blade Runner, Superman, and Alien boxed sets, then I would, without a moment's hesitation, purchase it. Otherwise, I have better things to spend my money on.

If he makes any more changes I hope it All ends in flames like that south park episode with raiders of the lost ark special edition where they all melt like the villains in the film.

quote " Good thing he has not changed the PT"

screw the prequel trilogy lucas can tird all over that talentless piece of crap souless hackjob for all I care. just leave our beloved original trilogy alone! for the true orginal star wars fans of course.

And another thing maybe for the first time in more than 30 years he can direct something new to prove he's not a one trick poney joke we all know he is. Kershner is a real filmaking craftsman watch empire and then watch the prequels.

What has been changed on ROTS between the theatrical version and the DVD version? Heck, even between the workprint and the DVD version? I believe there is one wipe that's slightly different, but that's the only thing I know of. If you have more info, please spill the beans.

P.S. - It's annoying that ROTS is the one film where a decent quality copy of a workprint leaks, and then then it ends up being exactly like the version we get on DVD! If only it had been AOTC or TPM's workprint that had leaked...

As far as I know, that's the only thing, but I think I heard some rumors about a change during the Palpatine/Mace fight. They reused a close-up or changed a close-up. Something like that.

Maybe it will be that part where his voice gurgles and he says, "Nyooooo, nyoooo, nyoooooo!"

Green Lightsabers in A New Hope.....

need we say more?

Ever since I bought the 2004 editions, that has always bothered me, how they could take something that wasn't fucked up in the first place and then go and fuck it up and then release it to the masses. Georgie Boy, you made things worse! What other company would let a mistake like that go? If you weren't the head of the damn thing, I think the answer would be something like "no other company".

I figure at some point we'll have a digtally aged Ewan McGregor replacing Sir Alec Guinness. It will also give Lucas the opportunity to change Ben Kenobi's lines to whatever he considers to be his "original vision" by then.
