I don’t really care about the actual ratings, but basically equating those four movies is crazy talk.

One of those four,
is not like the other ones…

I like Treasure Planet. It’s not fantastic, but I enjoy it. Or were you not referring to that?

Since I gave Treasure Planet a 7, I’m not exactly considering it equal with those other three, anyway, as they are half a point higher.

But whatever. *shrug*

Small Soldiers (1998) – B-

There are some things that I don’t like about this film, but when it comes down to it, there isn’t a lot to dislike. The few things that bother me (like the awkward teenage romance) take down what would be a B+ or an A- . It’s not a film that tries to take itself too seriously, and that makes it work just great.

Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

And it was essentially remade as Avatar. 😉

I watched Mad Max: Fury Road again with a friend who still hadn’t seen it. Still bitchin’.

I also decided this afternoon that it might be time to reassess Moonrise Kingdom, so I watched that. Wes Anderson is one of my favorite directors and I’ve seen everything else he’s done countless times, but for some reason I never had any desire to watch MK again after the first time in the theater. Seeing it again, I’m now totally solid in my conviction that it’s the worst Wes Anderson film. That’s not to say I think it’s a bad movie; there’s plenty in it worth liking, but it’s just not on the level of the others.

I have no hopes for it, so maybe I’ll love it.

You probably will find it at least entertaining, I’m starting to get very bored of the MCU Formula

I was too, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen one, so I’ve kind of forgotten what the formula even is.

“The Final Girls” (2015) was a perfect mix of slasher/comedy/satire with great actors, a great story, great effects, great soundtrack and a great ending. If you like the horror genre and you haven’t seen it (it didn’t do very good business so you likely haven’t) then this is definitely worth an hour and a half of your time. An imaginative and fun new take on all the old cliches. I give it a 9/10.

but not as awesome as everyone says it is.

Even though this and saying it’s overrated are pretty much the same goddamn thing I hate when people say that shit. It’s pretty much saying “Everyone else’s opinion doesn’t matter except for mine”

I’m not sure how you got that out of his statement, but OK.

I liked the movie, I just think it was just overhyped. I’ll definitely buy it when it comes out and I’ll probably enjoy it more the next few times around but I was just saying that all of the youtubers giving it an A+ was a little overboard.

Most youtubers give every superhero movie that isn’t a disaster like Fantastic 4 a near perfect score.

The general public seems to enjoy the movie a lot too.

There is definitely such a thing as an overrated movie. Just look at the prequels reviews right after release on RT. Compared to today’s scores, they were overrated. So saying Civil War is overrated does not mean “everyone is stupid but me”, it means “I expect this movie will be rated lower after some time has passed”.

Ceci n’est pas une signature.

It also could mean that he didn’t think it was as good as people are saying. I agree that the flippant use of the word “overrated” can be condescending, but Mr. Smith didn’t do that.

Well I take “It’s not as good as people says it is” as saying “I know better than everyone else” or “You should trust my opinion over most others” but that’s just me.

You can read minds though; we can’t and just have to assume that his comments were made in good faith.

Any movie with a number in the title where a letter should be is an automatic 1/10.

Seconded. I came to that conclusion after 5T4R W4R5 3P150D3 1: The Ph4nt0m M3N4C3 came out.

I don’t have to when I can just read the post.

I’m sure he didn’t have any malicious intent with that post but taken at face value the post indicates that his point of view on the film holds more weight than others. Had he said something like “I don’t feel as though this film is as good as people have led me to believe” the entire feel of the post would have been totally different even though he was essentially saying the same thing.
