Aliens are definitely real.

Not saying they visit or abduct us or anything, but there’s no way humans are the epitome of intelligent life. If there’s a bright center to the universe we’re on the planet that it’s farthest from.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens blu Ray (available at your local Wal-Mart. Sorry I’m a manager and had to plug). Still fantastic. 8/10

Yeah if I was smart I would’ve done that. Cuz if you get a hankering to watch it that can’t be quenched you can always watch on vudu or Amazon for a few bucks

Just rewatched Jurassic Park III, and it’s just as bad as I remembered it. Probably worse actually. And this one is even more of a cash-in-sequel than The Lost World, because this wasn’t even based on a sequel novel. It just cash-grabbed, living off of the popularity of the first film. Again, no real cinematic value. I think the pros and cons add together to make it equal with The Lost World, despite my enjoying The Lost World more. Tomorrow I’ll watch Jurassic World and complete the ranks.

Jurassic Park III – C-

Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

I’d say Jurassic Park III leans towards a C, at least for me.

Ghostbusters II: B

I went into this film with fairly low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. The acting and characters were all just as fun as they were in the first film. Though, the story was pretty convoluted.

The Dictator: C+

It was dumb, rude, obscene, and racist, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy myself while watching it.

Die Another Day: D

For the first hour or so, this film was just bad, and the song was the worst thing in the film*, but as soon as the ice palace was introduced, it became unbearably terrible.

Skyfall: B+

I really enjoyed this film, it had good acting, good characters, great direction and cinematography, and an interesting story. The ending was a bit anticlimactic, but I enjoyed the film nonetheless.

Army of Darkness: A+

This film was just so much fun, and all the effort put in is definitely visible on screen. If this is the worst of the Evil Dead trilogy, I can’t wait to see the best.

Dr No: B-

It dragged a lot in the second act, most characters are underdeveloped, and the story is pretty poor, but overall the good outweighed the bad.

Back to the Future: A

Aside from a couple of minuscule flaws that barely even count as detractors, this film is pretty much perfect.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail: A-

It goes without saying that the film is hilarious, but what surprised me the most was how well made it was. All of the costumes and sets were really visually appealing, and perfectly conveyed Medieval England. I really enjoyed it.

*Actually, I gave up on the film as soon as James Bond uttered the words “Merely a flesh wound” to John Cleese’s Q.

I’ve got a certain fondness for The Lost World. I understand that it’s pretty mediocre when you really break it down, but at the end of the day it’s a movie with dinosaurs, a cast I like, and a John Williams score. I’d have to see them both again to be sure because it’s been a while, but the more I think about Jurassic World, the more I think I prefer The Lost World. My ranking (with the caveat that the original is the only one I’ve watched since the weekend JW became available on Comcast):

  1. Jurassic Park (obviously)
  2. The Lost World: Jurassic Park
  3. Jurassic World
  4. Jurassic Park III

Anyway, my TFA blu-ray arrived yesterday so I watched that, but I’ve given my opinion of that many times already over in General Star Wars Discussion. the second to last movie I’ve watched was Becket, for which Peter O’Toole and Richard Burton were both nominated for Best Actor Oscars. Predictably spectacular performances that both deserved the award more than the one that actually won (Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady, I believe).

Well, duh. Jurassic World makes me prefer vomit. My ranking for that will go up later when I’ve rewatched it.

Jurassic World was just meh. Nothing great, but I didn’t think it was horrible. I’ve not actually watched Lost World or JPIII.

I’d definitely recommend you check out TLW but I’d caution you to avoid JPIII at all costs.

Yeah, I ought to get TLW on tape next time I’m at the thrift store getting movies I don’t care enough about to get on Blu.

Star Trek (2009)

After relentlessly trashing the idea of a Star Trek reboot for years, I finally caved and decided to give it a shot.

I actually quite enjoyed it. A-

J.J. Abrams seems to have pleased both old and new Trekkies with his 2009 one. The older ones hated Into Darkness but the new ones still liked it. Beyond looks like it’s going to move the entire fanbase back to square one, although I’m only judging by the trailer.

He didn’t please me.
It was okay but pretty much the same okay that Nemesis was.
Into Darkness is laugh out loud bad though.

^Same. Only I wouldn’t say Star Trek '09 or Nemesis are even “okay”. Just bad.

I’m obsessed with rewatching every single movie and TV show I can remember having ever seen prior to August 2012 – the good, the bad, and the mediocre. I’ve even assembled a list to keep track of them all (I currently have 920 titles still to get through).

It’s sad, I know, but it’s an itch I have to constantly scratch.
