Between this project and Acbagel’s Way of Mandalore fanedit, “This will begin to make things right. I’ve traveled too far and seen too much to ignore the despair in the fandom.” I know someone mentioned he primarily has updates on discord…anything new to report? I have been following the project on youtube and on here mainly. I am eagerly awaiting its release!

This project is still very much alive, folks! Progress has been slower in June/July because PJ has taken some time off for family trips and also took on additional work responsibilities (something also wrecking my The Way of Mandalore timeline!) for the Shelby Oaks film. He has 2-3 weeks left on that film and then should be free to grind out the last chunk of work on Trials of the Master. He is already done with the large majority of VFX and has shown the currently 2 hour 20 minute workprint to some people already. There’s a TON of content that hasn’t been shown in public updates. Even so, he has this VFX left to complete: “Fortress rescue sequence, one extra Vader throne room scene, lots of removal and paint-outs and several meditation environments.” Then soundtrack work, some touch ups/review, final storyline and scene cut/placement decisions and it’ll be ready. It will be released NLT Q4 2023.

Thanks for the update Acbagel; I appreciate it! Your completed Mandalore project and this one are some of my most anticapted edits in a long time. Also, is that the Shelby Oaks film from Chris Stuckman you are referring to?

Yes, that’s the one! He got some unexpected additional responsibilities for it and just had to take some time off from fan editing until he can get through it. Almost done though and you’ll see some public updates in August!

Thanks for the kind words too, I’ll post in my Mandalorian thread later this week with a release date!

He’s working on a Chris Stuckmann film?

Also, Chris Stuckmann is making movies now?

…It kind of reminds me when I was young and they released Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, and out of nowhere came this ‘Team Gizka’ who declared they were making a The Sith Lords Restoration Project (TSLRP) and it never came to be, except for a leaked torrent…

Have you looked at the successor to that project? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sith_Lords_Restored_Content_Modification
I’m currently playing through it on my Android tablet.

Yes, he has been talking about on his youtube channel for a little while now. Its cool to see people I follow on the internet collaborating together. I will have to check out the Shelby Oaks film now when it is released.

That’s great he’s working with Stuckmann given that PJ worked on Andor as well. Chris obviously got his top tier so guess I’ll check it out despite not being that big on horror.

I love the redesigned location for the final fight. This is going to be epic.

Looking forward to making a movie night outta this and then beginning to think about what I’d like to do with Kenobi myself.

Same here! I’ve had a project file sitting on a drive from around May ever since I saw the trailer for this thing.

The guy’s a professional VFX artist by day, and clearly has a burning passion for the project. All in good time!

Yes, I’ve played it twice. But the original project was better imho. The leaked torrent was really good. TSLRCM could have used the TSLRP animations. I think they used a few, actually, but the ending scenes are much blander in the latter. Oh well, still worth it.

Personally, I’d prefer it if it was just an uncut series edit where the only changes are the appearances of the Inquisitors to how they look in Rebels and having Anakin and Obi-Wan’s faces de-aged in the flashback scenes to how they looked in AOTC, and keep it all in 4K HDR with Atmos sound. I’m probably not gonna get it, though.

This isn’t here or there, but I did think that scene when Obi and Leia are on the desertish planet, and he has the vision of RotS Anakin in his hood from far away… that was really an artful shot and scene idea that I wouldn’t have expected out of Disney. Hope that remains in any decent cut

Once all the material is available this would be extremely simple to put together in a free NLE. You could leave the audio as is and just replace the clips you want with the new stuff.

Thanks. But you know what? After I had some time to think about it, maybe it COULD work as a feature film edit, because that’s what the Disney+ series was originally written to be. I know you made one just like that.

The show can absolutely work as a feature film edit. The thing is that PixelJoker is making huge changes to the story itself. So it will depend on whether you prefer those changes to the story or not to determine if another edit is warranted.

What kinds of huge story changes?

Nobody knows all of them for sure yet since he’s saving that for the release. But from what I can tell Obi-Wan learns Vader still lives in the cantina instead of Reva telling him. I’m sure there will be other changes like this that will have an effect on the overall story.

That comes from the epilogue to Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader. It’s one change I don’t mind, actually.

PixelJoker, are you still going to go for that take in the first trailer of Vader saying “That name means nothing… Master”? Because I can tell that the part where he says “that name” is ripped straight from Return of the Jedi. Why not create a new take?

I don’t think PJ usually comes on here. If he doesn’t end up using AI voices in his edit for whatever reason, I’m sure we can come together to replace the spliced lines on this thread.

Pixeljoker is using the voice actor Ryan Golden to voice the Vader lines. He definitely does a solid job. For those who want more information, I would suggest joining Pixel’s discord server.

Will most of them be replacing the original lines, or are they just for the new footage?
