Sometime ago I saw a low looking mpg file entitled “ROTJ SE rough version ending” with a timecode on it, I ve read that there IS indeed a full copy of this and ANH SE 97 and ESB SE 97.

I was wondering if anyone had anymore info on this…or possbly copys…

few more questions:

  1. Is there anymore know “timecoded” footage out there ?
  2. the footage were you see the unrestored copy of the film almost “green”
  3. B/W footage

thank you for your time

There is an rough SE ending floating around, but it's really not significantly different enough to want to see it very bad. I have a crappy copy on VHS somewhere. I've never seen a full 97 workprint of any of the 1997 SEs around, and I've seen a lot of stuff. The Jedi ending is just the ending (you can tell because the editing software heading comes up first), so it's unlikely that there's a full flick out there.

Don't think so.

No.

3) B/W footage

There's some of this from the original Star Wars. Download Deleted Magic.

You're welcome. And, just a bit of advice, five question marks is too many.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

There are no rough cuts of the OT (or any star wars film) available. The ROTJ SE ending was just an animatic produced for the SE ending change; the only noticable difference is some incomplete effects and animatics and the temp music track. You can see similar animatic footage for various SE sequences, ie dewbacks, but because they are not nearly as extensive as the ROTJ ending they are not all that interesting.

There are some little bits and pieces of a b&w rough cut of Star Wars on the 2004 DVD bonus disc documentary. In particular, on the Death Star where Han and Chewie are running down the corridor and the laser bolts are temporarily hand-scratched into the film.

Also, on the Behind The Magic CD there is about 7 minutes of rough cut cantina footage containing some alternate scenes and edits. And the b&w cut footage of Luke and Treadwell on that CD is probably also from the same rough cut.

That's about it, in terms of rough cut footage.
