Help: looking for... Anyone have COSI Star Wars Exhibit Footage?

Just got back from COSI where I planned to film the Star Wars exhibit. Unfortunately the battery in my camcorder crapped out on me. This is one of the only Star Wars exibits that I’ve been to that I don’t have on film. I’ve converted everything else to DVD but now I have a piece missing.

Would like to put together a comp of all the exibit/convention stuff. I have Celebration 2 and 3 + Star Wars at the Smithsonium + Star Tours Ride and a few other odds and ends.

What is the "Smithsonium"?

(heh, heh -- yeah, I know it's the Smithsonian...)

Ah! I see you're not from the great state of Ohio!

They have a star wars exhibit right now that I want to go see. I have a friend whose mother is supposed to get me free tickets.

Jaberdoo - are you in columbus as well?

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

I'm originally from Springfield about 45 mins from Columbus. I recently moved to Cincinnati though, made the 2 hr trip and didn't get to film it, Oh well, it was mostly props from the movies, most of which I'd seen from other Star Wars Conventions and exhibits, a few new items. The millenium falcon ride was an hour wait for a 4 min ride and we didn't feel like waiting in the crowd of people to go on it, so I missed that too. There was some cool stuff though, but I was a little dissapointed.

Weird,
I didn't think anyone on this board was from Ohio, much less Cincinnati. I didn't even know there was a Star Wars exhibit at COSI. The last time I was there it didn't have any of it's swanky new stuff. It did have this space shuttle thing out in the lobby. My friend and I were in it when it started making a bunch of weird hissing noises, so we started yelling "ALIENS! THEY'RE HERE! HELP US!" We got many stares from passers by - nobody helped. That was back in like '97, so I have really no idea what's up there now, just that they redid the whole place.

They actually moved to the old East High School on the river. it's a prettier building but it doesn't have the same feel as the old one. The coal mine is gone, the caboose is gone, the apollo shuttle you're describing is gone and there's just so much empty space. It's not like the old one where it was packed from wall to wall with crazy stuff.

Oh and jabberdoo, I know springfield. A friend of mine used to go to Wittenberg and my Dad takes a lot of trips to yellow springs.

Last I heard no photographic equipment of any kind was allowed at the Star Wars COSI exhibit?!?!?

Maybe they have a metal detector/battery zapper in the front entrance?

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

Man it's a small world.

Yes they do allow cameras. I managed to get a few seconds of video before it crapped out on me.

Yeah COSI isn't the same anymore, I hadn't gone there since I was in like 4th grade and you're right, it doesn't feel the same.

This exhibit will be coming to OMSI in Portland, Oregon in October. I am definitely looking forward to it, especially the full-size Milennium Falcon hallway and cockpit mock-up.

I'll get pics, but I don't have a camcorder and probably won't by then either.

This is the last weekend for the COSI exhibit. I went last night and can't figure this one out. This isn't the prop hand for Luke in Empire Strikes Back. That was a wrist and it was a clean door. This looks like a blast and in Jedi, he got the back of his hand blasted. Unused concept prop or shenanigans?

Cool exhibit, but I wish they'd made clearer what was film used props/models and what was mockups.

I live in Columbus, just went to COSI on Thursday. Of course we went to the Star Wars exibit, but I don't remember seeing that hand. We didn't go on the Millenium Falcon either, as it was a half hour wait. Saw the robot show with C-3PO there. My friend had a digital camera, and she took some stills, but I'm not sure if she took any video with it. I'll find out. All in all, it was a fun experience. Tomorrow is the last day it will be here in Ohio. Too bad we didn't go a few days earlier, as we missed Darth Vader, Chewbacca and Wicket hanging around in the Star Wars Road Trip.

Yeah, It's Where Science Meets Imagination. The hand was with the medical droids.
