Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 617

The Star Wars trilogy films are easily the three most popular films unavailable on home video today. So there will always be unscrupulous people trying to cash in on the chasm between supply and demand, and unfortunately Despecialized makes it easy. The best leverage we have against unscrupulous dealers is to make sure all Star Wars fans know about Despecialized, and that it’s free – erode the demand for these bootlegs, in other words. Other than that, we’re just putting out fires on eBay until Star Wars enters the public domain and we can get a real commercial release – and none of us will live to see that day.

Unfortunately, there are too few people who have burners or know what to do with them. So they’ll rely on other people to do it because they can’t be bothered. The supply nor the demand will ever go away.

I’d love it if someone made a custom Blu-Ray cover of the Despecialized Trilogy for a single 3-disc Blu-Ray case, similar to how the official Blu-Rays for the OT and PT were bundled separately back in 2011.

Someone did. That’s the artwork I use

That’s great. Though, it would be great if Disney releases an official OUT Bluray set.

Question to Harmy: Around the internet, I keep seeing people claim that they saw the deleted Tosche Station scenes in the theatre back in 1977. Based on your research into the original theatrical release of SW, is it possible that some prints may have included deleted scenes?

EDIT: It’s possible that they may be remembering extra material (like the novelization) which included these scenes, but I’ve seen people claim they never saw this other material.

I saw Star Wars in 1977 in Canada, and watching that scene just now is the first time I’ve ever seen it.

Also, that Movie Mezzanine article mentions that “A promotional reel from the digital restoration company features cleaned-up footage from Star Wars that looks nothing like the official Blu-ray release”. Does anyone have a link to this video?

UPDATE: Found it! https://vimeo.com/95919913

Then you’ll have fun reading this thread: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/4K-restoration-on-Star-Wars/id/16857

Thanks! And I think I’ll stop talking about this here, since the thread is starting to slip a little off-topic…

That makes sense. I don’t have a burner or high-speed myself, but I’m not going to let other people get ripped off, I’ll just wait till I get a chance to upgrade my situation in the future, not worth it for people to mess up this great project. Talk about revisionist history like in the the specialized versions, it still annoys me that Lucas would go on to claim later that Anakin Skywalker built C-3PO, annoying! Movies shouldn’t be so in-bred

I really liked the “2004 starwars.com” audio commentary in this version. Did Pablo make more of these commentaries for the rest of the films?

If anyone can find these commentaries for the prequels, please send me in the right direction. I’ve been needing them for a prequel blu ray set I’m working on.

Hey, Just wonderin’ if maybe the thread title should be updated to reflect the 2.7 version instead of the 2.5? It seems like there’s some confusion as to what the current version is and, if I recall correctly, even thought the 2.6 and 2.7 updates were done by Towne32, it’s endorsed and approved by you. Harmy. Harmster. Harmy Harm Harm. Ok, back to my drinks.

I believe the OT.com approved term is Hammy.

Possibly yet another rumor but

“Original Cuts of ‘Star Wars’ May Finally, Possibly Be Re-Released for the 40th Anniversary”

http://www.slashfilm.com/star-wars-original-cuts/

“Every now and then there’s a new rumor that the original, unaltered, non-Special Edition cuts of the Star Wars trilogy are on the verge of being re-released to the public. Sometimes the rumor says the original trilogy will be re-released in theaters, other times they say the movies will be available in high-definition on Blu-ray for the first time officially. Now a new rumor has emerged regarding the release of the Star Wars original cuts, but this one is somewhat more credible.”

Let’s hope there’s some truth to it!

For those of us sorry sad sacks without BluRay burners, what resources do we have for obtaining nice copies on printable media? I’d love help if anyone has an extra disc!

Thanks, Todd

I guess you have two options: 1) Buy a blu ray burner, or 2) just watch them off of a USB drive or something. Most blu ray players let you plug in a USB key.

The ACVHD versions can be burned to DVD9s.
