I wish I could be a SW '77 purist.
the clone war had thee lowest stakes for a fictional war
clones…versus droids
both expensive to produce, sure
but besides the jedi, there were few actual casualtiesClones don’t count as casualties?
And I’m sure there were civilian deaths as well in a war of that scale.
Lucas would likely never show a hint of it though. We never saw the prison camps or civilian casualties on Naboo that were talked about in TPM. It’s like playing Where’s Waldo just to spot any dead Gungans in the ground battle scenes.
Where were you in '77?
True. But these things still “happened” so-to-speak.
I’m sure the Clone Wars was meant to be devestating, regardless of what we were shown. Then again we hardly saw anything from the actual war in the movies. We only got the first and last two battles.
Star Wars is Surrealism, not Science Fiction (essay)

Not according to the Trade Federation delegates. Seriously, nobody on Naboo could take a cell phone video and send it to Padme so she could show the entire senate? 😛

[Insert random dude saying “Our communications have been jammed” in an alien language]
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

Perhaps Valorum could have asked the Jedi that he sent. Was that not the point?
Such a simple poster. A slightly different subtitle, reversed lightsaber colours. But it speaks tremendous volumes. This is the concluding chapter of the Original Trilogy. Accept no substitutes.

Still waiting for this film (sigh)…
Connix is the ST’s Wedge (I can’t remember if I’ve said so here before, so sorry if I made this exact same post three months ago).
If only I knew who that was I might agree.

Oh. I don’t agree. But I don’t disagree strongly enough to argue against it. This has been pleasant and professional, good luck in the coming business year.

But who is the Ric Olie of the ST? 😛

A pilot who almost exclusively remarks on things that the audience already knows?

I had a thought the other day that you could replace Anakin with Rick Olie and it would be a much more compelling film. A younger Rick Ollie, the only pilot left in Theed, has to help the Queen leave Naboo, but during so he makes a mistake that damages the ships hyperdrive, they land on Tattooine and out of desperation they enter the Podrace using Wattos podracer. His performance in the Podrace leads quigon to think that he has force powers and takes him infront of the Jedi council. In the third act, Rick joins the pilots taking on the droid control ship and using the techniques learnt in the podrace he flies into the heart of the ship and blows it up.
I like that idea! And You catch on pretty quick! would take it’s rightful place among SW catchphrases. 😃

You know you’ve seen ROTS too many times when you realize Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Mace should be falling to their deaths in this sequence. 😛

I’m sure that there are force fields in place so that people don’t just fall out of them with every sharp turn or light bump on a sand dune.

Isn’t that pretty much what happened in AOTC though? 😉

Holy shit these movies look really bad as isolated frames. that looks like a cartoon. Falling Natalie Portman looks like a Barbie doll.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.
Tell me about it!

Also known as Mr. Liquid Jungle.
Try looking at phantom frame by frame. It has some hideous compositing.
Oh here is a great one. These shots are two cuts apart.
Flopped Obiwan. It’s incredible how many compositing mistakes there are in this film.
Maybe it was done for editorial reasons? We’ve had flipped shots in Star Wars before.
Where were you in '77?
Oh they definitely had a reason. It’s diningenuous to call it a mistake but these things catch your eye. Especially when the floor flops too.
