General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread — Page 249

To make plainer the idea behind the earlier posts:

Maybe one of George Lucas’ private “experimental films” was actually a remake of the 1974 draft of The Star Wars, filmed circa 1997, with Gillian Anderson as Princess Leia?

And if so, did GL hire somebody to improve the dialogue from the initial script?

No and no.

People like you are no fun.

I’d be more fun if there was any evidence of this at all, but I wouldn’t count three magazine photos from 1997 (when I’m sure Lucas was very busy with the Special Editions and preparations for The Phantom Menace) that feature a similar hair colour and single words that were also used in a rough draft of a script as proof.

ROTS must hold the record for most wipes. They’re EVERYWHERE. Some are pretty bonkers too.

It was nice to see TFA return to a reasonable amount.

At least one of the infinite Earths must have this movie. If so, I want travel there to watch it!

Thanks, though it’s too bad whoever edited that video used wipes too. Confusing.

Don’t feel like counting but it must be close to 40 or so. I think TFA had like 10.

Yeah, it kind of undermines the whole point of such a montage.

In other news: Gillian Anderson dresses her dog as Chewbacca and has it lick almond butter off her face. For charity.

(and I thought I had issues…)

You can feel free to start your own Gillian Anderson Star Wars thread if you like. I won’t be offended.

This is why nobody’s personal cannon can ever justifiably exclude ESB. Yoda IS the Force.

You can’t exclude it because it’s the most important Episode in the OT. At least as it pertains to Luke’s story.

It just occurred to me that I barely remember anything about TFA. I haven’t seen it since it was in theatres.

Then watch it m8. Personally I’ve seen it too many times and am taking a break from it.

TESB spans several months, almost a year.

I’d say a few weeks at most.

Could you both give more details about how you see the time passing? What makes one of you feel like it’s months and the other just weeks? This is really interesting.

In my head canon, the Millennium Falcon's trip from Hoth to Bespin took several months travelling at sublight speeds. Time dilation kept the crew from experiencing that amount of time, so that’s why they didn’t arrive starved/dehydrated/really grungy.

Or, they just ate, drank and took showers while living in the Falcon…
I’ve always felt that Empire takes up a month or two.

See title…post random star wars thoughts here, ones that don’t have the legs for their own threads.

Seriously, if this topic is going to go on and on, someone please just start a dedicated thread.

I saw a rando YouTube video earlier, “My Star Wars collection - Vintage Stuff”. A good 85% of what she’s showing is Phantom Menace stuff. Yeah, I suppose it’s 17 years old at this point but… vintage? Way to go kid, now I feel like a proper old codger.

Also, she genuinely wonders if the term “sand people” is politically correct anymore. I’m too scared to check the inter webs to see if she’s the only one but please, don’t let this be a thing.
