Eh. Having been born in the late 90s and growing up with both Trilogies, I don’t feel like the whole ‘product of the generation’ thing is entirely accurate.

Then again, most people I talk to around my age defend the PT to some degree, even if they don’t like them much. Most of them think they’re mediocre but watchable.

In fact, there’s an old former friend of mine that loves them purely out of nostalgia and knows that they’re bad movies.

Maybe I’m just a hipster.

Yeah, the more I think about it the more I actually agree with what you said. In fact, most people I talk to around my age think Jurassic World CG looks good.

^Same. Most people I talk to around my age refuse to watch any movie made pre-2000 because they’re so old, and then I contradict them when they watch (or speak of watching) movies like Forest Gump. A lot of my friends joke that I’m the reincarnation of some guy from the 19th century, because I like some older things. So, the product of a generation thing probably happens to most, then the exceptions are those who were properly exposed to older things throughout their childhood, without being given an overly biased opinion from someone else, regarding “new is always better”.

EDIT: Also, I just thought it would be funny to mention, sometime last year, I had to explain to one of my friends what the difference is between good CGI and bad CGI.

The CGI two-headed announcer for TPM is even worse because they actually filmed the two actors in live-action with makeup-- meaning that the use of CGI there was totally unnecessary.

Kind of like CGI Yoda in the TPM Blu-ray, to be honest. Puppet Yoda may have been creepy, but he wasn’t from the Uncanny Valley.

Yeah, even though the TPM puppet didn’t look like OT Yoda, and it was a little creepy, CGI Yoda didn’t look like OT Yoda either, and was equally creepy at times. I mean, he constantly has his head down, with his eyes looking up at everyone. Why can’t he lift his head up a little bit? Look at the people you’re talking to with your mannerisms, not just your eyes, freak.

It kind of reminds me of this guy:

I still don’t understand why the Yoda puppet in TPM was so much worse than the one in the OT. It’s like they were going out of their way to make sure literally everything about these movies was inferior.

Has this/these guy/guys been redone? I haven’t seen TPM in years, but I remember them/him looking different… Not much different and I couldn’t tell ya what the difference is, but it seems different.

I believe that they were redone to remove an error in the model, where one piece of it intersected with another. CG problems that wouldn’t happen with a puppet.

Except for the hairdo, Yaddle looks more like Yoda than Yoda does in TPM.

Which makes it even more egregious that GL filmed this character with a puppet and then discarded that for a CGI character instead.
