Not trying to be bitchy but the countdown clock might as well point to Episode VIII. Rogue One will be with us more quickly than it seems and it would save Jay time.

^ I’m not clicking on that but is there anything to these rumors? If they’re big enough I probably will read/hear about them in the next year so I want to know if there is any validity to them.

At the moment they’re just ‘rumours’. I kinda hope they stay that way and don’t become ‘facts’.

That bad huh?

EDIT:

Without reading the article and reading just your initial post I don’t see anything wrong with a “Force Tree” the Force Surrounds everything and it would make sense that something like a tree would be surrounded with Force Energy more than other places. The idea reminds me of the cave on Degobah.

I read many TFA rumours and watched many TFA Spoiler videos that fed me bullshit that I don’t believe any of this. It’s just click bait crap. Take this video for instance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xul_XYOZXyo

But that’s jut one example, I’ve read articles about how Luke went into exile because he felt too evil/powerful. It’s all bullshit, all of this will go away eventually but for now we have to deal with it.

Well, Force trees are already canon. In one of the comics, Luke and Shara Bey had a mission to recover two twigs from a force tree in Coruscant that was destroyed during Palpatine’s remodelling ventures.

It’s canon that Luke kept one of those twigs, as well, so a force tree isn’t out of the question. That said, I wouldn’t expect them to do a Chosen one arc again.

Now I know at that portion of the rumor is false. There is absolutely, positively, no fucking way they’re doing that. Not when they have a far better way to account for Rey’s abilities in TFA.

As if I didn’t have another good reasons to avoid these videos until after the films are released…now I can go back and see how hilariously offbase the fanfictions were.

Also, the magic cave in Dagobah was originally a location centered around a tree - thus in the shooting-script dialogue, Yoda speaks of Luke’s “failure at the tree”, a line which was changed in post.

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

Those rumours read too much like bad fanfiction to be true.

*cue polemics of TFA being like bad fanfiction*

I don’t hate this force tree rumor, I would [obviously] just want it to be executed well. We don’t need Yoda explaining the events of the prequel trilogy to us. Rey doesn’t need to know that stuff. Keep the mythology of the force tree, that’s somewhat enriching to the mythology of the universe, but move on the previous films (prequels and originals, alike). The audience doesn’t need that stuff repeated to them, and the plot shouldn’t rely on having previous films explained to the new characters. Just my 2 cents.

Having now read the article I can say that shit sound so corny. If they’re going to go about explaining the origins of Dark Side and Light Side users they might as well use what was established in the EU.

Every time I hear about Hayden possibly coming back, I get sick. TFA managed to put the PT in its proper place- off to the side and only mentioned briefly. If we lose screentime to him in this, it could ruin the movie for me. Bring back Yoda. Hell, even bring back Vader as a spectre to haunt Kylo, but not Hayden.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

We might see an image of him in a hologram or something, but it’s not going to suck to oxygen out of the movie for me if that happens. And as Frink and I both know, Hayden actually can act when George isn’t directing him. 😉

They’re not going to paste his head on Shaw’s body again either. 😉

I wouldn’t mind giving Hayden a chance to redeem himself after AOTC and ROTS. The only real problem with having him in would be that it most likely won’t feel organic. The only way it wouldn’t feel shoehorned in (for me) is if they have Anakin appear to Luke and Rey in the First Jedi Temple. Being a Light Side nexus it would make sense that Jedi could transcend the physical plane and interact with people far after their deaths.

My litmus test for rumors like this is whether or not they contain anything that couldn’t be arrived at with the info we already have. We’ve seen the tree, we’ve heard certain casting rumors that tie in with this, and the rest is just fanfic with those things as a jumping off point.

If Hayden was in Episode VIII, wouldn’t we hear about it in a casting announcement?

JB-007 will return.

By the way Han shot first.

On Friday I’m leaving for a ten-day trip to Ireland with my Mom, Sister and Aunt. We’re going to be staying near several of the filming locations for Episode VIII, although I was quite disappointed to discover that the boat trips over to Skellig Michael are all booked up until the end of August (and this was a month ago). I guess that’s what happens when the highest grossing movie of all time that just came out six months ago and is also a Star Wars movie ends with a scene shot there. Oh well, visiting the Episode VIII locations a whole year-and-a-half before it hits theaters will feel less tourist-ey.

Dingle, where they recreated Skellig Michael, is on our itinerary, as is Cork where they wrapped in Ireland. I’m gonna try to save all of the spy photos of the set constructions on my phone so I can find the exact spots.

The one place I probably won’t get to visit is Donegal as it’s all the way up at the northern most point of the island and nowhere near where we’ll be staying.

Our family was in Dingle between the Ep 7 shoot and the reshoots, and if you go up to Eask Tower, you can just see the Skelligs.
Eask Tower View
There’s no public path up to it so you have to cut across some sheep pasture, but the lady who lives there was very friendly and even helped us wash the sheep dung off our shoes after we got back. Hopefully all the new tourist attention hasn’t driven her mad.

I would recommend if you have the time taking a whole day in Dingle to just take Slea Head drive around the peninsula, it’s breathtaking and only a little harrowing.

We ended up doing too much on our ten day trip, going from Trim to Dublin to Kilkenny to Cashel to Dingle to Galway to Westport and back to Ennis. If you only have ten days, I’d recommend just going to a few places and staying for two or three nights each.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
