Love the trench look on han. very firefly indeed.

Idk if this was discussed elsewhere, but my dad was asking me....and i thought you guys might know. when george handed the keys to the star wars car over to disney and jj abrams, did he give them his original story to follow, or did he just tell them to do whatever? does he have any creative input at this point? i should know more, but have been too busy to really follow this.

Thanks for any info.:)

Part of the deal were Lucas' drafts for Episodes VII, VIII, and IX. Lucas is also helping production in an advisory capacity, but I'm sure his drafts have been edited extensively, and Lucas has no creative control in his role as adviser.

More 'leaked' info from Badass Digest

When I told you guys about the opening of Star Wars Episode VII I told you that Han Solo wasn't flying the Falcon at the beginning of the film. I left out what his new ride was because I was worried about spoiling stuff. But now that Indierevolver has published concept art of Han wearing Imperial rank markers oops, just wearing his usual rank markers, as per Germain Lussier at Slashfilm, I feel like I can tell you:

According to my sources Han and Chewie are piloting a Super Star Destroyer. I wasn't 100% sure on this, but the image of Han with Imperial rank sells me.

I believe the Falcon is in the hands of Oscar Isaac's character, who is very much the Lando Calrissian of this movie - all the way down to wearing a cape.

There are other familiar spaceships in this movie, incuding three variations on TIE Fighters. There's the classic design, the TIE Interceptor and a new generation TIE Bomber - the pods on these are stacked, not side-by-side.

Oh, and back to Han - you will get to see him use a lightsaber once again.

....that would be a different spin

I like the tench look. It's kinda Deckard, kinda Endor, kinda cowboy. Feels very Han to me.

We're totally going to Hoth.

Yeah buddy! Great minds...

Definitely went to Deckard over Firefly. A nod to Blade Runner that I'm totally down with.

Han is not wearing imperial insignia on his Hoth jacket. That was a badge that was there in ESB

So, uhm, a more reputable source than Latino Review has posted what appears to be a look at this Inquisitor. He's holding Vader's mask, and looks like a Terminator himself. I'm not happy about it, but we'll see how the execution goes -- if this is even true. I hate to pull the "it's Disney" card, but this makes total sense to me. Cross-promotional material between Rebels and Episode VII is going to be a cinch if the villains are in the same sort of league with one another. This is the company that gave nearly every successful movie they had in the 90s a cartoon spin-off, after all. I'd bet Lucasfilm would have taken this approach on their own, too, to be honest. Good marketing towards kids and establishing lifelong fans without necessarily alienating everyone else, provided the film turns out good.

I tend to trust moviepilot, but I have bias as an acquaintance of mine is an employee of theirs. Take that as you will.

edit: noticed that the latinoreview has since updated their post with the same image found here. They're citing indierevolver as source, same as moviepilot. Guess we'll see.

More weird plot rumors involving the Inquisitors and a flashback.

DISCLAIMER: It's the Latino Review.

That's what I meant by weird.  It humors me to see so many fake plot rumors going around, and odds are they are sourced from Lucasfilm to fool with everyone.

I like the idea of Han and Chewie taking over a Star Destroyer and putting it to use smuggling or something. It harkens back to Crimson Jack and his band of pirates in the Marvel comic.

Of course, it also fits the other theory that the New Republic put all that leftover Imperial hardware to good use.

We should make up some of our own, and see if we can get the big boys to fall for them. ;)

Star Wars and flashbacks = bullshit.

I am what all Jedi fear to become, and what all Sith wish to be. A GOD!

Ah man, almost bought this comic at the antique shop the other day, $3. Need to go back and get that.

Also, while I remain skeptical of almost everything that has been leaked so far, I believe now is the time for me to leave this thread and not return until Dec. 2015.

I followed that link, and now I feel queasy.

Alas, poor Vader. I knew him, HR-8EO ...

I'm a little surprised they would try to connect this film with a pre-OT cartoon especially when the majority of casual movie goers probably won't even watch the show.  If the flashback is true, I wonder who they got to play a young Leia?  Or would it be a CGI Leia?

I have a feeling none of this true and that the robot hand we saw a few days ago is actually Luke's hand or simply Abram's showing us more practical effects as he's done with all the other sneak peeks.  He obviously wants fans to know that he is using a lot of practical effects.

thanks for clearing that up. should be interesting to see JJ's spin on this. i think he did a fabulous job with star trek. considering he is more into star wars than star trek, i honestly cant wait to see what he does with the new movies.

Well; it looks as if the gap between III and IV was the only place available to set the ground for VII; and to a certain point, I agree.

Rebels is set in a strategic time-lapse, which is the most unknown of the current cannon, yet undeniably still within the Star wars world we know.

If they went further back, that would be the PT realm; and start off a copletely new story was near impossible without an anchorage on what happened before; Phantom Menace syndrome.

And while I dig the new stormtrooper design as well, I like it per se; but a part of me was hoping to see the same designs from the OT; or at least to see the change HAPPEN on screen, and not just start from scratch with brand new designs.

Old tech endures and even coexists with newer gadgets in this universe. That's the principle because we saw a piece of junk in the OT. And that's why also, even if the designs aren't the best, I always digged to see some "old" PT ships in the SEs and particularly in the battle of Endor.

What treatments did you read a few years ago?

Something with R.O.U.S.es, Luke getting his true hand reattached, Luke and Vader being cloned, and a Black Hole machine.

They were very stupid if I remember them right.

That Inquisitor reminds me of Klytus from the Flash Gordon film..

Starting to wonder if a chunk of the movie is the quest to find Luke, which leads into revisiting some old familiar places.

Or maybe the tables have turned, and the Empire is the one with hidden bases?

Both of those would be fantastic platforms to build a story on.

*fingers crossed*

Truthfully, there are two things in all of this that are so fun for me.  One is the fact that we're sitting around discussing a Star Wars film without Lucas' involvement (real story tellers and writers now), directed by a guy who is a fan of the original. The visual design of the film is very 1977\McQuarrie.

The second is that we're discussing\guessing what the story will be and getting glimpses of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and the Princess.  I've waited an incredibly long time for this franchise to be corrected.  We may very well get to see that happen.

Either that Terminator is very big or Vader's helmet is very small.  Also, wasn't his helmet and mask at least two separate pieces?
